Chapter 31 Sebastian,My Father Committed Suicide by Jumping off a Building
A sharp pain shot through her right hand. Following the sensation, she saw that blood had flowed back into the entire IV tube and dyed it red.
Several news articles popped up on her phone as soon as it connected to the internet. At this moment,Eleanor was like an old machine with slow movements and delayed reactions. She trembled as she clicked on a news article about someone jumping off a building.
The live broadcast appeared with piercing screams and chaotic shouting in all directions. There were cries of women and children bursting out in tears,sobs,howls... In just a few seconds,Eleanor witnessed all kinds of human emotions.
Her heart felt empty like something had been carved out of it with a blunt knife. She wanted to stop looking but her brain forced her to continue scrolling down.
Then...
She saw John lying unrecognizable in a pool of blood.
"Ah..." Eleanor opened her mouth wide and let out a hoarse sob while her thin shoulders shook violently. She didn't know what was happening; she felt like her soul had left its body behind. Floating mid-air above herself like dead leaves caught in gusts of wind that could tear them apart at any second.
"Eleanor."
Someone called for her attention but she lifted up blank eyes filled only with fear and despair - nowhere to hide from them - darkening everything around them even more so than before.
When Sebastian walked towards her face-to-face,Eleanor looked shocked beyond belief; she stood up from the wheelchair as if possessed by madness trying to rush over there.
But now weakened body couldn't stand straight yet knelt down instead along with the overturned wheelchair which made "bang!" sound when hitting porcelain tiles supported by poles holding bags full of medicine dripping into tubes attached onto needles stuck under skin on top backsides of hands until they got torn off.
Blood dripped onto the white tiles, forming a conspicuous pool in no time. The loud noise immediately attracted everyone's attention in the hall; they all turned to look at the woman crouching on the ground with her head down and trembling body but couldn't see her face clearly.
Someone wanted to help, but Sebastian had already run over to Eleanor first.
Eleanor didn't know where she got her strength from as she struggled free from Sebastian's grip and slapped him hard while shouting hoarsely: "Sebastian,my father committed suicide by jumping off a building!"
John would commit suicide by jumping off a building? That cowardly man would do that? Sebastian couldn't believe it,but looking at Eleanor's painful and desperate appearance made him unable not to believe it either.
Sebastian's invincible heart sank continuously under an overwhelming sense of panic. If John really died... then he and Eleanor...
He suddenly dared not think any further down this line of thought. Tears kept falling uncontrollably like arrows piercing his heart could never compare with what he was feeling now - pain beyond words or measure. Eleanor cried out loudly as if tearing apart her own heart; all she could see was her father's bloody face.
"Sebastian,I hate you! You killed my dad!" Her hoarse voice turned into sobs again; she whimpered until her heart felt twisted into knots.
It was the first time Sebastian heard Eleanor say that she hated him. His heart felt like someone had grabbed hold of it tightly and squeezed harder every second.
He endured the pain and squatted down while holding onto Eleanor’s shaking body firmly: "Eleanor, let me take you to see your dad. He won’t be in danger anymore. Trust me."
"Sebastian, you told me yourself that he would live! You're such an untrustworthy person!"
She thought kneeling down without dignity could save her father's life, but he still committed suicide.
John might not have loved or cared for her anymore, but he was still her relative and father. But now... everything was gone.
Eleanor's already pale face had lost all its color; she trembled violently even when Sebastian hugged her tightly. She leaned against his shoulder and bit down hard with all the strength left in her body to inflict pain on him - it didn't hurt or itch him at all.
Eleanor's weak body soon lost all its strength after a moment; she rested her chin on Sebastian’s shoulder while tears soaked through his suit jacket.
Her voice trembling as she sobbed: "Sebastian, why are you so cruel?"
