Chapter 39 Wedding Photos

Eleanor returned to Eastern District and prepared to clean up the room in these two days, trying to sell this house as soon as possible.
During her cleaning, she found the wedding photos hidden in the cluttered closet. The frames were covered with dust.
She and Sebastian had not taken any decent wedding photos in these years. This was still a photo that a reporter took on their wedding day and published it in the newspaper. She spent a lot of money buying this group photo and wanted to hang it on the bedroom wall after framing it.
However, just two days after hanging it up,Sebastian came back and angrily tore it down before throwing it onto the ground where it shattered into pieces.
Eleanor cleaned up the glass fragments,re-framed the photo, and put it back into storage. Whenever she had free time, she would go there to look at them. For Sebastian, this group photo was his shame; but for Eleanor, they represented sixteen years of dreams - like a dream within a dream.
As Eleanor wiped off the dust from above with her hand, her eyes were full of sarcasm mixed with more sadness when looking at how foolishly happy she used to be.
She casually threw away those photos among other waste items piled together before calling an old man downstairs who collected scrap materials for disposal.
After working hard all morning long under hot weather conditions which made her sweat profusely due to being unable to withstand cold temperatures anymore (due to cancer),Eleanor changed clothes quickly while checking out what time is was: almost noon already!
People suffering from stomach cancer do not feel hungry but rather experience discomfort caused by burning sensations inside their stomachs instead. As such symptoms persisted within herself too often lately,Eleanor went straight into kitchen preparing some clear soup noodles for herself.
Just as she finished cooking them, the doorbell rang.Eleanor thought that perhapsit might have been the old man who came to collect scrap materials, but when she opened the door, she saw Sebastian's face.
They had not seen each other for three days. He was busy accompanying Victoria while she was busy emptying their home and paying off debts.
As soon as he entered,Sebastian smelled the aroma of food. Looking at Eleanor in front of him still wearing an apron,he couldn't help but wonder: Did Eleanor know that he was coming today and specially made dinner?
Most of the time when Eleanor is with him,she looks glamorous and radiant; this is his first time seeing her dressed like a housewife wearing an apron.
"Why are you here?" asked Eleanor.
"Don't you know I'm coming?" His heart felt strange as all those peaceful years disappeared without a trace.
Eleanor frowned impatiently,"How would I know your movements?"
During this period of selling houses, packing luggage, and moving,Eleanor has been too busy to care about Sebastian. People change so quickly - someone whom they used to want to see every moment now feels annoying just by looking at them once in awhile.
Thinking about the noodles on the table,Eleanor didn't speak anymore. She turned around and went back into dining room holding her hot bowl full of soup noodles eating it hungrily.Sebastian took out slippers from shoe cabinet which were familiar to him,but before changing them heard slurping sounds inside. He walked over watching Eleanor eat noodles with both hands holding a bowl bigger than her face, munching vegetables inside like a soft rabbit. It looked cute enough for people wanting to hold her tightly in their arms rubbing against her body.
He walked over standing beside dining table, his Adam's apple rolling up and down:"I'm hungry."
"Order takeout if you're hungry."Eleanor did not lift her head. She doesn't have much appetite. Two or three bites can make herself feel full. After eating some vegetables and drinking some soup, she put down her bowl.
Seeing Sebastian still staring at her,she probably understood what he wanted. He wanted her to prepare food for him.
In the past, she tried hard to please him by making a table full of dishes according to his preferences while waiting for him to come back home. However,he didn't even look at them once. Now that she doesn't want to do it anymore,he stands there shouting that he's hungry.Who is really cheap here?
Sebastian's thoughts were something Eleanor could never figure out.Eleanor smiled coldly,"If you can't eat takeout, you can go back to Victoria's place and let her cook for you."
"Eleanor,I rarely come back today.Don't make me unhappy."
"As if anyone cares about your return."Eleanor picked up the bowl and went into the kitchen.
Sebastian stood awkwardly in the living room, wondering how people could change so quickly. The woman who used to love him so much now says these things. Is it just anger or does she really not have feelings for him anymore?
Sebastian felt uncomfortable and restless for a moment. He looked around and noticed that many of the decorations were missing. In the center of the living room, there was a pile of seemingly useless junk. He walked over and picked up one item at random.
