Chapter 35: Unbearable Pain

Eleanor lowered her head and fiercely bit down on Sebastian's wrist,using all her strength to tear at it with sharp teeth that broke the skin. Her mouth was filled with a bloody sweetness,but she didn't let go.
Sebastian winced in pain as his brow furrowed,but he refused to release her. He tightly held Eleanor in his arms and said to the police behind him,"Find someone to take care of the body."
The police asked,"How should we handle it?"
Yes,how should they handle it? Sebastian twisted his wrist and clamped down on Eleanor's jaw while staring at her blood-stained teeth with a sinister gaze. He asked in a low voice,"Eleanor,what do you think we should do? Should we bury him somewhere or send him to the crematorium?"
Eleanor couldn't speak because he was holding onto her too tightly. She could only whimper painfully or sob softly while tasting the bloody sweetness in her mouth - she couldn't tell if it was from Sebastian's blood or hers.
"Let's send him to the crematorium," he decided.
The police called for help over their radio and prepared to remove the body from where it lay since leaving it there wasn't an option anymore. It would be better off following Sebastian's suggestion by sending John Stone’s corpse directly for cremation.
"Don’t touch my dad..." As she watched them taking away John’s lifeless body,Eleanor went crazy trying desperately to grab hold of something; however,all she managed was pull off the white cloth covering John’s body which exposed everything before her eyes.
It was terrifying seeing how he died after jumping off that building – even experienced policemen who had seen countless deaths were unable to bear witness without feeling sickened themselves.
His body contorted unnaturally as blood covered every inch of his flesh; there was even a hole in his stomach where the steel bars from the construction site had pierced through,causing all of his internal organs to spill out.
Many people witnessed it at that time and either screamed or vomited.
Eleanor suddenly stopped making any noise or movement. She gasped painfully while her face turned pale,lips turning blue. Suddenly everything went black before her eyes as Sebastian covered them with his hand from behind.
"Let me go..." Eleanor lowered her head into Sebastian's palm,breathing heavily. "Sebastian,let me go!"
But he didn't release her; instead,he pressed harder on both of her eyes so that not even a sliver of light could penetrate through. His palms were hot and damp...
Eleanor bit down hard on her lower lip as she felt unbearable pain in her heart. When she saw the bloody hole in John’s stomach,she felt like there was also a hole inside hers - empty and cold - where freezing winds blew through every organ causing excruciating pain.
She clutched at herself tightly while panting for breaths before stuttering out: "Sebastian... I don't have my dad anymore."
"You still have me," Sebastian whispered into Eleanor's ear.
Eleanor laughed softly with bloodstains around the corners of her mouth as tears streamed down uncontrollably: "Sebastian,I regret everything...I regret meeting you six years ago; I regret forcing you to marry me four years ago; I regret everything I've done to you over these past four years. If it weren’t for you none of this would’ve happened."
If only she could forget about Sebastian sixteen years ago then perhaps they wouldn’t be connected now nor would she suffer from gastric cancer which led to the Stone family’s financial crisis or being locked up in a room for four days without anyone knowing what happened resulting in John being framed by someone else...
"Eleanor,it's too late to say these things now," Sebastian said.
Yes...it was too late for everything. Everything that had happened to her was all because of her own doing.
Eleanor's body suddenly trembled violently,and she turned as pale as paper. Sebastian noticed something wasn't right.
"Eleanor,what's wrong?" he asked urgently.
She couldn't hear him anymore; all she felt was the corrosive pain in her stomach that made her feel like dying.
