CHAPTER 41

AUTHOR'S POV
In the cold night, the bodyguard, injured in a brutal way, crawled his way inside the mansion and found his boss dead on the sofa.
He felt hurt and hatred for himself for not saving her after all the good things she has done to him and his family.
He finally reached where she was laying dead and began to shed tears non stop until the ringtone behind the dead body got his attention.
"It's her phone but who could be calling her unaware she's dead or is it the monster who killed her?" Different thoughts kept running through his mind as he stretched his arm to get the phone.
He took a look at the caller and saw it was his boss' mother calling.
"Her parents aren't even aware their daughter is dead. What should I say to her?" He conceited and finally picked the call.
"Baby, how are you doing?" The voice of his boss' mother bloomed out of his ear.
"Good evening madam." He greeted as his mind was occupied with how to break the news down to her.
"Norman, where's Madison?" She asked.
"She's dead madam." He broke down the news and burst into tears.
"What do you mean my daughter is dead?" She yelled over the phone in a scared tone.
"Some group of men attacked the house and killed her."
"What!! You're lying to me."
"She's really dead madam. I'm sorry I couldn't save her. There were too many of them to handle."
"Who the hell are those people?"
"They were after her land and when she refused they decided to kill her."
"How could you keep such a secret away from me?"
"I'm so sorry madam. She asked me to take an oath to keep it away from you."
"No! I refuse to believe what you have just said. We're coming over to London now!" She screamed and the call got disconnected.
The bodyguard dropped the phone after the call and buried his head on the sofa close to his boss' corpse, wiping bitterly and waiting for her parents to arrive in London.
NEW YORK CITY, USA
Daisy couldn't say a word other than shed tears. She couldn't believe what her daughter's bodyguard told her over the phone.
Sean, her husband was absent minded while driving to the airport.
"My princess can't be dead. It's not possible? He kept rumbling while driving unaware of the figure standing on the way until the person was knocked down.
"You just hit someone Sean, what are we going to do?" Daisy panicked.
"I know honey. Let's check the person out."
"What about our baby girl?" She inquired.
"We need to make sure the person is safe or we'll be charged for murder." He explained to her as they both got out of the car and walked closer to the female figure who was laying half dead with a burnt face.
"Goodness darling. It's a girl and her face is partially damaged." She gasped.
"Do you think she's dead?" He asked her.
"I don't know but check her pulse." She urged him and he nodded in response walking towards the figure and quietly got hold of her arm.
"She is still alive. We have to take her to the hospital or we won't be able to leave the country."
"Oh, honey. What have you caused?" She lamented, breaking down into fresh tears.
"I'm sorry sweetheart but I'll fix this. Open the door, let me get her inside the car."
Sean picked the half dead figure into his arms as Daisy opened up the passenger door for him to lay down the girl and they both got into the car driving to Sean's best friend's hospital which was a few minutes away.
*****
Sean rushed into the hospital and headed straight to his friend's office to inform him about his ordeal while Daisy kept wiping and recalling all she and her daughter talked about weeks back.
Dr Sam assigned two bodyguards in helping his best friend bring in the injured patient but through the back door as Sean wants it to remain a secret between them.
The patient was finally administered treatment by the door as Sean and his wife waited outside the VIP ward to confirm if the patient is out of danger before leaving the country.
After minutes of waiting, the Dr finally walked out of the room but his face was unpredictable which got Sean asking him questions.
""How's she, Sam? Is she going to be okay?"
"I have administered treatment on the bruises on her legs and hands but I can't say about her burnt skin."
"We clearly don't understand that. Is it something serious to be worried about?" He asked.
"Sam, we didn't know how she got burnt. That's how we saw her." Daisy added, holding tight to her husband.
"I know you guys can't do anything to anyone. You're just shocked at the news of your daughter's death and I am afraid the patient is not likely to survive due to how her skin is half damaged. The skin tissue protecting its features is already damaged and the more it is exposed, the more her chance of survival becomes minimal."
"Oh god! No! This can't be happening all in one day." Daisy gasped as tears streamed down her face while her husband remained numb but after a while he got himself back.
"Sam, you have got to help us. Please, help us look for a way to save the innocent girl's life. I know I can trust you on that. We also don't know how she got on the road in the middle of the night or who she is."
"That's what I am afraid of but I'll try my very best to look for a way to save her."
"Thank you so much, Sam. You've really done a big favour to us and I promise we'll be back to check up on her."
"You're welcome Sean and I'm sorry for your loss. You've got to stay strong and take good care of Daisy." Dr Sam encouraged his best friend who told him of the recent news they heard about their daughter.
"I still believe my baby is alive. She's not dead but alive." Daisy protested, nodding her head negatively and her husband hugged her to himself.
He needs no one to tell him, his daughter is really dead with the look of the bad thing they encountered.
"Take good care of her." Dr Sam whispered to Sean as they both made their way out of the hospital to the airport.
LONDON, UK
The bodyguard who was tired of shedding tears and fell asleep wasn't aware it was already daylight and wasn't getting any better with his injury until he heard Daisy loud cry from the door and opened up his eyes to see his boss' parents at the door.
"My baby! No! This isn't you! You can't just die and leave me alone." Daisy cried out and rushed over to her daughter's dead body which was already cold.
"Princess!" Sean stammered, unable to say another before breaking down in tears.
"Please, wake up honey. We still have a lot of catching up to do. Wake up baby!" Daisy kept crying and hugged Madison's cold body to herself.
The bodyguard couldn't help but break down in tears as well seeing how pained and sad his boss' parents are with the sudden dismissal of her daughter's death.
"Norman, how could you let those monsters get to my daughter? How could you!!!" Daisy fired at the bodyguard who couldn't utter a word but kept wiping bitterly.
"It's okay, honey. He tried the best he could, please don't let it out all on him. I'll make sure I find those people behind our daughter's death and bring them all to book." He vowed and hugged his wife together with their dead daughter.
"Madison, my baby girl!" Daisy kept wiping as her husband consoled her.
Norman, the bodyguard quietly brought out his late boss' phone and handed it over to her father who stared at it and kissed the phone recalling when he got the new phone for her.
After a while, Daisy fell asleep on her husband's shoulder after crying nonstop. He picked her up and took her to their bedroom where he laid her down and walked back to the living room.
He saw the bodyguard losing a lot of blood and for the first time he blamed himself for failing to notice the situation of the bodyguard and had to call upon his private doctor to treat him.
He took a seat close to his daughter's dead body and asked the bodyguard to explain how it all happened when they were away.
In the process of explaining the incident to his master, the ringtone of Sean's phone stopped him from explaining.
Sean saw the caller was his best friend, Dr Sam and picked it up to hear what his friend had to say about the health of the girl who he knocked down with his car.
The surprising thing that got him thinking is the fact that the girl was the same age as his daughter and she looked lost and in pain in the face. He was sure she was running away from the person who disfigured her face.
"Sean, are you there?" He heard his friend's voice which brought him back to reality.
"Yes, Sam. Have you found a solution to save her?"
"Yes."
"Okay. What is it?" Sean asked curiously.
"She will need a face surgery. It's the only way to make her live or she's going to die."
"But whose face are we going to use?" He asked.
"That's another problem, Sean."
Sean was totally lost on what to do to save the strange girl he ran into as she will need someone's face to live but whose face? He thought to himself as an idea came across his mind which made him look at his lifeless daughter's corpse beside him.
