Chapter 115: Girls Trip

**Rory**

After my unsuccessful attempt to be of assistance, Trisha graciously took me shopping. As we perused the shops, I couldn't help but constantly glance over my shoulder, fearful of being recognized. The mere thought of Alpha Warwick discovering my association with dragons sent shivers down my spine. The consequences could be dire - I could be punished, exiled, or even face the ultimate fate of death, along with my family.

While Avery had vowed to protect those dear to me, I couldn't help but doubt her abilities. Witnessing her perform magic was impressive, but her multiple mates raised eyebrows and questions about her true power. The world of dragons was a complex and dangerous one, and I found myself caught in the middle of it all. The stakes were high, and the risks even higher.

"Rory, this outfit would be absolutely stunning on you when we venture to Talos," Trisha exclaimed. The mere mention of that tribe sent shivers down my spine, as King James had once paid a visit to my pack. He and my Alpha had a history.

"I'm not sure if I should go," I hesitated.

"Why not?" Trisha inquired, looking puzzled.

I let out a heavy sigh. "King James has been to Nightshade before. He could easily hand me over to my Alpha."

Trisha embraced me, reassuringly saying, "He wouldn't dare. My bestie would take him down before he even had a chance, or have a Raven do it."

My eyes widened in disbelief. "Ravens? Ravens serve no one but..."

She grinned, "They owe everything to Avery. She freed them, and now they stand by us."

I recalled the story we were told about a coven breaking Blackbriar's curse, only to perish in the process. "But we were told that the coven sacrificed themselves to save us," I pointed out.

Trisha shook her head. "No, it wasn't like that. Girls, like the ones Avery rescued you from, killed her and Cassius with the Dragon's Blade. Avery used her life force to bring Cassius back. With the help of his brothers and the Ravens, they revived Avery. Together, they put an end to those Hags once and for all," she explained, her voice filled with drama and intrigue.

"How is any of that possible?" I ask incredulously.

“Avery is a mysterious figure, a woman of many talents and secrets that we have yet to uncover. Known as The Mother Of Dragons, her powers are beginning to reveal themselves. Raised as an orphan with little knowledge of her past, Avery's journey led her to Naga, a place so protected that not even King James could enter,” Trisha explains.

"No one stumbles into Naga," I reply, my voice filled with awe.

Trisha nods, acknowledging the significance of Avery's presence in such a sacred place. "Yes, that is why we know Avery is special. Perhaps in Talos, the birthplace of dragons, we will uncover more about her true nature," she suggests.

I can sense the truth in her words, but there is still an unsettling feeling lingering within me. Avery's story is far from over, and the mysteries surrounding her only deepen as we delve further into her past.

"Let's shift our attention to shopping and planning for Christmas and beyond," she suggests with a reassuring smile that calms my nerves.

Among the dragons, they all have their unique personalities. Cassius may intimidate me, but Clint's carefree nature resonates with me. Conner, on the other hand, remains a mystery to me. His quiet demeanor sends shivers down my spine. I must inform them about the Nightshade Pack, but the thought of my Alpha harming my family if I do so fills me with dread.

The weight of this secret threatens to consume me, but I must tread carefully in this dangerous game of loyalty and betrayal. The stakes are high, and the consequences are dire. I must navigate this path with caution, for one wrong move could spell disaster for all involved.

Avery may be the Mother of Dragons, but can she truly wield power over my Alpha? Perhaps I should conduct some research, yet I am at a loss as to where to begin. It is common knowledge that all beings now answer to King James, but what if Avery is not his queen? The thought of betraying my Alpha fills me with dread, as it could ultimately lead to Avery's demise.

Perhaps I should return and face my punishment head-on. I could concoct a tale of how, after the dragons banished Bethany and her friends, they enslaved me and I managed to break free at the earliest opportunity. I despise the deceit, but if it means safeguarding Avery, I will do whatever it takes. I am even willing to deceive my parents, even though in my culture, we hold our elders in high regard.

"This dress will be perfect for you, and who knows, you might even meet your mate," Trisha exclaims, holding up a stunning gown. I avert my gaze, feeling my cheeks flush with embarrassment. "What's wrong?" she inquires.

"I may have already found him," I confess in a hushed tone, my heart racing with anticipation."

**Trisha**

I am aware that The Trio dismissed Rory and me so they could have a private conversation. It seems evident that they are evolving, as is Avery. I am considering approaching my professors to inquire about the evolution of a mated pair. By phrasing it in this manner, I can discreetly address Avery's situation without revealing too much.

Furthermore, it appears that I am the sole individual excited about our journey to Talos. I am eagerly anticipating reuniting with Tim and embracing him once more. I am hopeful that he is my destined mate, despite his assurances. However, doubts still linger in my mind.

I refuse to let worry overshadow the holiday season. It has been a long time since Naga has celebrated Christmas. I know Avery is the reason for that, but I am still excited about it because I love experiencing the hustle and bustle of the human world during this time of year. “Rory, we are going to buy these gifts and one for Avery. Let's also get matching pajamas and have a sleepover,” I insist.

"I have never been to a sleepover," Rory says sadly. She is a lot more similar to Avery than I had realized.
