Chapter 134 part 2

**Avery**

As the nights progress, Clint's behavior becomes more erratic, more dangerous. He isolates himself from our group, his interactions with the others laced with subtle barbs, calculated insults. He whispers poison in my ear, planting seeds of doubt about my mates' loyalty, their love for me.

Cassius notices the change. He sees the way Clint's eyes gleam with malice when he thinks no one is looking, the way he touches me with a possessiveness that borders on obsession. "We need to talk to him," Cassius says to me one evening, his voice grave. "Something's wrong. He's not himself. I worry for him. I worry for you. I worry for us all.”

I nodded, my heart heavy. I know Cassius is right, but the thought of confronting Clint fills me with dread. I saw the darkness in his eyes, felt the coldness in his touch. I am afraid of what he might do, but I am more afraid of what he might become. Conner suggests a different approach. "We need to find out what's driving him. What's the Ancient One promising him? What's he gaining from this?"

James agrees. "We must be cautious. Clint is powerful, and he's under the influence of a dark force. We can't afford to underestimate him."

While we come up with a plan, Clint's seduction of me intensifies, his tactics becoming more sophisticated, more insidious. He plays on my desires, my insecurities, my deepest fears. He whispers sweet nothings in my ear, promises of love and devotion, all while subtly undermining my trust in my other mates. But I don’t waver. I know that my mates love me just as I know that my Clint is still there.

He touches me with a tenderness that makes my heart ache, a tenderness that feels so real, so genuine. But beneath the surface, there's a coldness, a calculation. He's using me, manipulating me, and I know it. Yet, I can't seem to resist or avoid him. One night, as we lie entwined in his chambers, Clint's voice is a low whisper in the darkness. "Avery, you know they don't truly love you. They're using you, just like everyone else. But I... I would never hurt you. I would never betray you."

His words strike a chord deep within me, resonating with my deepest insecurities. I want to believe him, want to trust him, but a voice in the back of my mind, as well as Regina, who has been virtually silent since the Ancient One’s first appearance, screams warnings. "Clint," I say, my voice trembling, "I don't know what's happening to you. But this... this isn't right."

He rolls over, his eyes burning with an intensity that makes me shiver. "It's the only way, Avery. The only way to protect you. To protect us." His lips crash down on mine, silencing my protests. His touch is urgent, desperate, his hands roaming over my body with a hunger that borders on violence. My mind is a whirlwind of confusion, my body responding to his touch even as my heart screams in protest. What is the only way? Just what has the Ancient One told him? And is there truth to it or is it all lies?

The night of the full moon arrives, casting an ethereal glow over the palace. The air is electric, charged with an unseen energy. I feel the pull of the moon, the call of my true nature. This is so odd because the moon had never affected me like this before. Clint is waiting for me in the courtyard, his eyes glowing with an otherworldly light. He's shed his human form, his dragon scales shimmering in the moonlight. He's beautiful, terrifying, a creature of myth and legend. But why won’t he let Carter all of the way out? "Come to me, Avery," he whispers, his voice a low rumble that vibrates through my very core. "Join me. Together, we can be unstoppable."

My heart pounds in my chest, my instincts warring with my rational thoughts. I know this is the moment of truth, the moment I must choose. Cassius, Conner, and James emerge from the shadows, their eyes locked on Clint, their bodies tense with anticipation. They know what's at stake, know the danger they face. This is our plan, and we can’t afford to make a single mistake.

"Avery," Cassius calls out, his voice steady despite the fear in his eyes. "Don't listen to him. He's not himself."

Clint's laughter echoes through the courtyard, a chilling sound that sends shivers down my spine. "It's too late, Cassius. She's mine now. She always has been."
