Chapter 150 part 2

**Avery**

Before long, Donn returns, a foreboding figure in the darkness. This time, he arrives alone, his wings neatly tucked behind him. "Avery, I have come to warn you," he declares, his voice filled with gravity. "The Ancient One intends to manipulate you for his own gain. He does not care for you or your companions, only for the power he believes you possess."

I nod, my heart burdened by his words. "I am aware. He has offered me a position at his side as his mate, a chance to rule this world together."

Donn's eyes blaze with fury. "He deceives you, Avery. You are destined for greatness, but not as his pawn. You are a dragon, a queen in your own right. You do not require him, or anyone else, to fulfill your aspirations."

I am overwhelmed with gratitude for his words, for the unwavering faith he has in me. "Thank you, Donn. But what do you desire from me?"

He moves closer, his hand gently caressing my cheek. "I want to assist you, Avery. To be your guide as you navigate through your darkness, ensuring that you never lose sight of your true self."

His touch sends shivers down my spine, his gaze piercing into my soul. "And what about my companions? They are afraid of my darkness, afraid of the potential harm it may bring upon us."

Donn's hand falls away, his expression grave. "They fear what they cannot comprehend, Avery. But in due time, they will come to accept your darkness, just as I have. Just as we all must."

I nod, my determination solidifying. "I refuse to let my darkness consume me, or those I hold dear. I will find a way to harness it, to utilize it for good rather than succumb to its malevolence."

A rare smile graces Donn's face, illuminating his typically stern features. "I do not doubt that you will succeed, Avery. You possess the strength, the bravery, to conquer any challenge."

I reach out, clasping his hand in mine. "Thank you, Donn. For everything."

His hand envelops mine, radiating warmth and reassurance. "You're welcome, Avery. Now, let's confront your mates and prove that your inner darkness is nothing to be afraid of."

Together, we enter our bedroom to face Clint, Conner, James, and Cassius. Despite all the aid Donn has provided, James still regards him with suspicion, as if he poses a threat. It's clear they fear Donn's presence may disrupt our harmonious family.

But I stand tall, my spirit dragon dormant within me. "I am Avery, Queen of Naga, Queen of Talos, Queen of Queens, and Mother of Dragons," I declare with authority. "I refuse to be defined by my darkness. Instead, I will harness and control it to fulfill my destiny as a queen. I will not let power corrupt me. I will protect and preserve the dragons, and foster unity among all species."

My mates gaze at me, their expressions softening as they grasp the sincerity in my words. Clint steps forward, clasping my hand. "We have faith in you, Avery. We will stand by your side through whatever challenges may come."

Conner's eyes gleamed with pride as he nodded. "You are our queen, Avery. Our love, our strength, our everything."

James smiled warmly, his hand reaching out to gently touch my shoulder. "We will face this darkness together, Avery. As a family."

Cassius stepped forward, enveloping me in a tight embrace. "I love you, Avery. No matter what."

Tears welled up in my eyes, my heart overflowing with love and gratitude for these incredible men. "I love you all too," I whispered, my voice thick with emotion. "And I promise you, I will never let my darkness harm you. I will always protect you."

As we stood there, united in our love and strength, a sense of peace washed over me. The shadow dragon spirit continued to whisper to me, tempting me with power and darkness, but I now knew I had the strength to resist it. I just needed to understand why I was drawn to Donn. The Ancient One's presence also gave me pause. We inadvertently set him free by playing his game. Donn claims he only desires me for power, but what if the Ancient One seeks me because I am his mate?

In this moment of uncertainty and love, the drama of our intertwined fates unfolded before us, leaving me to ponder the true nature of the forces at play in my life.
