Chapter 88: Bad Omen

**Clint**

This place is incredibly creepy. It is haunted and in my opinion the whole complex needs bulldozed and the area cleansed. I have seen so many unfortunate things befall humans and supernaturals alike. I am convinced that this place could convert the strongest non-believer. Why in the fuck would Tim want to meet here? Is that fucker a warlock? After what all we both saw and heard the day we proposed to Avery, I want to imprison and interrogate any magic user. I trust no one other than Avery, my brothers, and now Draven.

The further into the place we walk, the more uneasy I feel. Then I caught Lenore’s scent. That bitch is behind Avery’s disappearance and if she hurt one hair on Avery’s head, I will rip her heart out myself! I rushed ahead with my brother and Draven calling after me. I entered a room to find a bloody and unconscious Tim who was both bound and gagged. He was alive, so I focused on finding my mate and my brother. As I was about to enter an eerie stairwell, they caught up to me. We all covered our noses because all we could smell was sulfur, death, and decay.

I fell to my knees when I saw my brother dead in a pool of blood with Avery lying on top of him with two blades sticking out of her back. “We have to help them,” Draven tried.

I looked up at him with tears streaming down my face and Conner weeping beside me. “We can't. They're dead. Our mate and our brother are dead.”

At that moment three ravens flew in and landed on the railing near the bodies. I stood up to swat them away, but Draven stopped me. “They are here for three souls, not two,” he said.

“They can take me then.”

Conner stood up beside me and said, “Me too.”

However, we all froze when we heard a deep chuckle as one of the ravens shifted into a tall man with long dark hair and dark eyes. “You don't remember us, but we remember you.” As he said that the other two ravens shifted into humans. One was a muscular man with long dark hair and the other was a curvaceous woman with dark hair.

Draven fell to his knees. “Ravens, these are the Ravens from Blackbriar. They are the Reapers that we freed.”

The tall man said, “Yes, and we owe you all our freedom.” He looked at the coins Draven was clutching in his hand. “You hold judgment in the palm of your hand. Have those who did this each take a coin and make a wish. Death will come to collect its toll.” He winks, “Quote the raven, never-more.”

The muscular one says, “Donn is right. I am Samael and that is Mara. We won't ever take your souls. The Goddess has plans for you all. Draven go and give those females the coins. Their time is up!”

Mara takes my hand and my brother’s. The two men each put a hand on Avery and Cassius. Mara had my brother and me complete the circle. Donn muttered something that I couldn't understand. Avery and Cassius’s body began to twitch. Then a miracle happened!

**Avery**

I was in that same dark void when the Hoity Hags nearly killed me, but this time I am not alone. I cling to Cassius as I try to make sense of all of this. I look up at him and kiss him before I say, “That fortune teller was right. Death and danger came for us. She was also right that I am a Queen. So she said that we would find love.” I put my hand on my mark on his chest, “I have found so much love.”

I felt my mark on him pulse and heat up. I gasped when he touched his mark on me. They began to sync and pulse faster and faster until suddenly we were no longer in the void. I stood up and patted my body. My dress was in tatters, but I was in one piece. I patted Cassius down and his stab wounds were gone but he was still covered in blood. My hands flew to my back as I wrenched one blade out and dropped it to the floor before I removed the other one.

I bent down to pick up the blade I had dropped. As I stood up I noticed who all was around me. I gasped. “The Ravens from that church!”

The tall man’s long dark hair fluttered in a non-existent breeze. He smiled as he bowed, he said, “I am Donn and those with me tonight are Samael and Mara. We are forever in your service, my Queen.”

I rushed over to them and told them to stand. “I am my mates’ Queen and Naga’s too. To you, I am Avery, just Avery.”

Donn chuckles, “Miss Avery, you are so much more.” He looks at my mates, “And they are too. It will all make sense soon.”

Then I remembered the night that I found those pebbles. “You left those pebbles that gave me that vision.”

He smirks, “Guilty as charged, my Queen.”

I smack him, “Stop that! I am just Avery.”

He chuckles, “Alright, just Avery. Let's go heal your friend and get you to the prom.”

I look at Cassius’ destroyed tux and my ruined dress. “I can't go like this.” The Ravens all nodded and the next thing I know, we are all in brand new attire. Everyone matches me in my floor-length A-line tulle blue, purple, and black goddess style dress that had silver stars and a diamond crescent moon on the bodice. I look at Donn, “You are such an ass.”

He laughs, “I could have made you all nude.”

My mates press themselves to me and take turns kissing me before Clint says, “Donn if you guys had, we would be fucking her right now.” He gets a devilish glint in his eyes as he continues, “And we still just might.”

I hold up the Dragon Blades, “Not until those bitches are dead!”
