Chapter 165: Hell
**Avery**
When we came upon a portal, the shadows attacked, but we were ready. As we vanquished the last one, the malevolent voice echoed around us, “You will never escape me. That flame will be mine, and then you and your world will burn.” Its voice sent chills down my spine. I turned to Vincent. “Once we are through that portal, I need you to go get Draven, Jace, and Rory. They need to know all that we do, and I feel that I need them here. They are a part of this…they are a part of me. Plus, I think Altima has answers for us all. We are close, I can feel it.”
Vincent ran his finger along my jaw, and I leaned into his touch. He offered a rare smile. “Yes, my queen. We will do it all together because I think our unity is the key. I shall return.” He kissed me before he vanished in swirling shadows.
Clint takes my hand. “I can summon him if anything happens. But we need to eat and rest. Let us take care of you, Avery.” I kissed him as we stepped through the portal.
We find ourselves immersed in a primordial realm, where shadows intertwine with light, flames flicker upon the water's surface, and a cacophony of sounds surrounds us. We are not solitary in this mysterious domain. Once we were all through the portal, it closed behind us with a resounding finality. I couldn't help but gasp in shock - never before had it sealed itself so abruptly. It was as if this world had a will of its own, refusing to be connected to that haunted island. And who could blame it?
As we scanned our surroundings, trying to decide where to wait for Vincent to return with the rest of our group, a ball of fire suddenly streaked through the air and landed on a fallen tree at the base of a volcano before us. The flames twisted and contorted, taking on the form of a majestic bird - a phoenix.
The mythical creature bowed its head before us, proclaiming me as the Primal Flame, the mother of mothers. It welcomed us to a place of destruction and rebirth, assuring us of safety from the malevolent forces that lurked nearby. But a warning followed - even after we found wholeness, our flame would still be at risk of being stolen. The phoenix spoke of lost love being reborn, a message that resonated deeply within me as it turned to ash before my eyes, only to be reborn in a dazzling display of renewal.
I stood in awe of the beauty and power before me, only to be brought back to reality as Vincent returned with the rest of our group - Rory, Draven, and Jace. I embraced them tightly, grateful for their presence in this strange and wondrous place.
Vincent takes my hand. The air crackles with anticipation as we stand in the Primordial realm, a place where time seems to stand still. The ground beneath my feet is soft, almost spongy, and the air is thick with the scent of ancient magic. I can feel the weight of history here, the echoes of a time long past.
"This is where it all began," Vincent says, his voice low and reverent. "The Goddess herself walked these lands, shaping life and death with her bare hands."
I shiver, despite the warmth of the realm. The thought of the Goddess, a being of such immense power, sends a thrill down my spine. I can almost feel her presence, watching us, waiting to see what we'll do next.
"We should find a place to rest," Conner suggests, breaking the silence. "We've been through a lot, and we need to be ready for whatever comes next."
I nod, grateful for his practicality. We've been running, fighting, and surviving for so long that the idea of rest is almost foreign to me. But I know he's right. We need to be prepared, both physically and mentally, for the challenges that lie ahead.
As we walk, the landscape shifts and changes around us. Trees grow and shrink, flowers bloom and wither, and the sky shifts from a brilliant blue to a deep, starry purple. It's like walking through a living painting, one that's constantly evolving and changing.
