Chapter 124: Christmas pt 1

**Avery**

The final preparations for Christmas are underway, and the scent of pine and cinnamon fills the air, mingling with the faint aroma of dragonfire that clings to my skin. My dragon powers, usually so responsive to my will, have been behaving erratically, sparking frustration within me. I clench my fists, my nails digging into my palms as I try to reign in my magic, but it feels like trying to hold onto smoke. Draven, his dark presence a comforting constant, approaches me, his warlock's eyes gleaming with understanding. "It's normal, my Queen," he says, his voice low and soothing. "Your powers are growing, evolving. It's a sign of your strength, not a weakness."

I sigh, my shoulders sagging slightly as I release the tension I've been holding. "I know, but it's frustrating. I feel like I'm losing control."

Draven's hand brushes against mine, a silent gesture of support. "Control is an illusion, Avery. Embrace the chaos. It's what makes us powerful."

I manage a small smile, grateful for his unwavering belief in me. But my mind can't help but wander to James Balans, the King of Kings, whose presence still lingers in my thoughts like a shadow. Draven, ever perceptive, notices my distraction.

"You can reject your bond to him, you know," he says, his tone gentle but firm. "You don't owe him anything."

I shake my head, my red and blonde hair cascading over my shoulders. "I won't reject him, Draven. There's good in him, I know it. I can feel it."

Draven's eyes narrow, a flicker of concern crossing his features. "Be careful, Avery. James is a force to be reckoned with. Don't let your compassion cloud your judgment."

As if summoned by our conversation, the sound of approaching footsteps echoes through the hall. Clint, Conner, and Cassius stride into the room, their masculine presence filling the space. Their eyes, each a different shade of blue, lock onto me, and I feel a surge of warmth at their unwavering devotion. "Everything alright, my Queen?" Clint asks, his voice deep and rumbling.

I nod, forcing a smile. "Just a bit of dragonfire mischief. Nothing to worry about."

Conner's sharp eyes miss nothing. "You've been pushing yourself too hard. You need to rest."

"Rest can wait," I say, my voice firm. "Christmas is almost here, and there's still so much to do."

Cassius steps forward, his dominant presence commanding attention. "We'll take care of everything, Avery. You just focus on yourself."

I appreciate their concern, but the restlessness within me won't be ignored. "I need to feel useful," I admit. "I need to be involved."

The men exchange a glance, and Clint's lips quirk into a mischievous smile. "Alright, then. How about we make a deal? You help us with the preparations, but only if you promise to take breaks and listen to us when we tell you to rest."

My lips twitch into a grin. "Deal."

As we set to work, the atmosphere lightens, the tension dissipating as we decorate the hall with garlands and lights. My dragon powers, though still unpredictable, seem to respond to the joy of the moment, and I find myself laughing as I hang ornaments alongside my mates and friends.

Christmas Eve arrives, a day filled with the scent of roasting meats and the sound of carols echoing through the castle. My heart full, as I watch as my mates and friends exchange gifts, their faces softened by love and gratitude. I am nervous about the presents I have chosen, but as I see the joy on their faces, my worries melt away.

As the evening wears on, my group retires to the bedrooms, our passion igniting like a wildfire. My body aching with desire, I surrender to the pleasure, of my mates' skilled hands and mouths driving me to the brink of ecstasy again and again. Later, as we lie tangled together, our hearts beating in unison, I feel a sense of peace settle over her. I am grateful for this moment, for the love and security I have found with these men.

But as I drift off to sleep, my thoughts turn to James, and the gift I have prepared for him. It's a symbol of my trust, a token of my willingness to embrace our bond. I plan to mark him, to allow him to mark me, and in doing so, forge a connection that will bind us together forever.

Christmas morning dawns, the sun casting a golden glow over the castle. My heart racing with anticipation, I made my way to the grand hall, where a beautifully wrapped gift awaited me beneath the tree. As I unwrap it, tears prick at the corners of my eyes. It's plans for a nursery, a space filled with tiny furniture and soft blankets, a symbol of the family they're building together.

Overwhelmed with gratitude, I turn to my mates, her eyes shining with love. "Thank you," I whisper, my voice thick with emotion. "It's perfect."

Clint's arm wraps around my waist, pulling me close. "It's what you deserve, Avery. You're the heart of our family."

Conner's hand brushes against my cheek, his touch gentle. "We want to give you everything, Avery. You're our world."

Cassius's eyes, intense and unwavering, meet mine. "And we'll protect you, no matter what."

My heart swells with love, and in that moment, I know exactly how I want to thank them. "Come with me," I say, my voice husky with desire.

I lead them to the BDSM playroom, a space filled with restraints and toys, a testament to our shared passions. "As part of your gift," I say, my voice low and seductive, "I want to give you control. You can do anything you want to me."
