Chapter 152 part 2

**Avery**

Cassius, Clint, James, and Conner moved with precision and grace, their swords clashing in a symphony of deadly intent. The air reverberated with the sound of steel meeting flesh as I called upon my magic, feeling its power surge through me like a living force. With a swift motion, I unleashed a burst of dark energy, sending shadowy beings flying through the air. But for every foe that fell, more emerged to take their place.

In the midst of the chaos, Donn appeared at my side, his movements fluid and powerful despite his imposing stature. "Focus, Avery," he growled, his voice cutting through the cacophony of battle. "Embrace your darkness. It is a part of you. Control it." His hand rested reassuringly on my shoulder, his words wrapping around me like a protective shield.

As the battle raged on, I felt a newfound sense of determination and purpose. With Donn's guidance, I channeled my inner strength and unleashed a wave of dark energy that swept through our enemies, leaving a path of destruction in its wake. Together, we stood as a formidable force against the darkness, united in our resolve to emerge victorious.

I drew in a deep breath, shutting my eyes and delving deep within myself. The darkness loomed, a swirling abyss threatening to engulf me. Yet, Donn's words reverberated in my mind, a lifeline I clung to desperately. With determination, I began to shape the darkness, molding it into a shield that encased me and my mates. The shadowy figures recoiled, their cries piercing the night as they faded into oblivion.

The forest fell silent, the only sound the heavy breaths of our group. Trembling from the exertion, I opened my eyes, turning to Donn with a searching gaze. "Thank you," I murmured, my voice rough with emotion.

He smirked, his intense eyes softening ever so slightly. "Don't get too comfortable, Your Majesty. I'm not in the business of saving queens." He may not be a knight in shining armor, but he is becoming my sarcastic dark king.

Before I could even utter a word, a deep rumble reverberated through the ground beneath me. The trees before me parted, revealing a figure that exuded power and ancient wisdom. The Ancient One stood before me, tall and commanding, his presence both captivating and unsettling. A shiver ran down my spine as I felt a sense of unease wash over me.

"Avery," his voice boomed, resonating with authority. "Your journey has only just begun. The answers you seek lie within the heart of the enchanted cave. But be warned, for the path ahead is filled with temptation."

Donn's jaw clenched, his body tensing with a fierce determination. "Stay away from her," he growled, taking a step forward. "You've already caused enough harm."

The Ancient One's gaze shifted to Donn, a faint smirk playing on his lips. "Old wounds run deep, Donn. Perhaps it is time to release the grip of the past."

My heart raced as I felt the tension between them, the weight of their shared history heavy in the air. Despite Donn's deep-seated distrust, I sensed a glimmer of truth in the Ancient One's words. "We are going to the cave," I declared firmly, my voice unwavering. "Together."

The journey to the mystical cave was filled with tension. The dense forest pressed in on us, the air thick with anticipation. I couldn't shake the eerie sensation that we were being watched, that unseen eyes were following our every step. Who was watching and why? Who had summoned those things to take me and kill my mates? If something happened again, would the Anceint One help or try to runoff with me? Soon, some of my questions were answered.

As my mates and I, along with Donn and the Ancient One, journeyed through the mystical forest, a sense of wonder and enchantment filled the air. It took on a light, almost heavenly glow. The ancient trees whispered secrets of ages past, and the soft glow of magical beings danced around us. But our peaceful reverie was shattered when strange creatures emerged from the shadows, their sinister eyes gleaming with malice. Their twisted forms were unlike anything we had ever seen, a haunting blend of human and beast. As they launched their vicious attack, fear gripped our hearts, and adrenaline coursed through our veins. We fought with all our might, struggling against the unearthly strength of our assailants. In that moment, we realized that this forest held not only beauty and magic but also dangers beyond our wildest imaginations. Donn and the Ancient One kept any being from touching me, but they didn’t aid my mates unless one of them was about to be blindsided. My magic kept wavering, but their soft touch on my shoulders grounded me and allowed me to focus. However, I was growing tired. Carrying the eggs and using so much magic so closely is zapping any resolve I had. Finally, the last Being fell. I looked at my group with newfound pride.
