Chapter 135 part 2

**Avery**

I have been thinking about Seraphina. This is another test, I know it. I will do anything to save any one of my mates or friends. But it is unfair of me to ask my mates to do the same. I have to find a way to take the brunt of this. I didn’t cleanse Clint. I didn’t give him enough of my life force. I am why the darkness is upon him. I am why it is upon all of us. Later, in the privacy of our chambers, my mates and I gather to discuss Seraphina's proposition. The tension is palpable, each of them grappling with their fears and desires.

"This is madness," Cassius growls, pacing the room. "Handing over our will to a stranger? It goes against everything we stand for."

Conner leans against the wall, his arms crossed. "But what choice do we have? If she's telling the truth, it's the only way to save Clint."

James sits on the edge of the bed, his expression unreadable. "There's always a cost. The question is, are we willing to pay it? And more importantly, what happens if we refuse?"

I sit on the windowsill, my gaze distant as I stare out into the night. "I can't bear the thought of losing Clint. But at what cost? Submitting to her... It's not just about physical surrender. It's about giving up control, something we've fought so hard to maintain. It is hard to trust anyone but you guys. After….”

Cassius stops pacing and turns to face me, his eyes intense. "Avery, you know I'd do anything for you, for any of us. But this... it feels like we're being backed into a corner."

Conner pushes off the wall and moves to stand beside her. "We have to consider the consequences. If we refuse, Clint's corruption will only worsen. But if we agree, we risk fracturing our bond. It's a lose-lose situation."

James stands and moves to join them, his presence commanding. "We need to think strategically. Seraphina's offer is tempting, but we can't ignore the potential fallout. What if she's not who she claims to be? What if this is just another ploy by the Ancient One?"

My heart aches as I consider the possibilities. I think James is right, and I know Cassius does too. "We need to trust our instincts. But how can we be sure? Clint's life hangs in the balance, and we're being asked to make an impossible choice."

The silence that follows is heavy with unspoken fears and desires. Each of us knows the stakes, knows what's at risk. But as the night wears on, I feel a resolve forming within me. I turned to face my mates, my expression determined. "We can't let fear dictate our actions. If Seraphina is our only hope for Clint, then we have to take the risk. But we do it together. We face this as a unit, no matter what comes our way."

Cassius's eyes soften, and he nods. "Together. Always."

Conner places a hand on her shoulder, his touch reassuring. "We'll stand by you, no matter what."

James steps forward, his gaze unwavering. "Then it's settled. We'll meet Seraphina's terms, but on our terms. We'll face this head-on, as a family."

I take a deep breath, my heart swelling with gratitude for the men who stand by my side. "Then let's do it. For Clint, for us. We'll face whatever comes next, together." I hope that this is the last of the Ancient One’s tests. Part of me wishes that I hadn't saved Rory’s pack because it had brought the Ancient One into our lives. But part of me wonders if it would have happened anyway. I am pulled to the Anceint One, but is it worth exploring? I won't sacrifice any of my mates. If he expects that, then I will find a way to thwart his darkness.
