Chapter 166 Part 2

**Avery**

Drake steps closer, his eyes burning with an intensity that catches my breath. "Good. Because once we begin, there’s no turning back."

He reaches out, his fingers brushing my cheek, sending shivers down my spine. I close my eyes, letting his touch anchor me, letting go of my fears, my doubts, my control. The room seems to shift around me, the air thickening with magic and desire.

"Kneel," he commands, his voice a velvet whisper.

I obey, my knees sinking into the soft rug, my head bowed. Drake’s fingers trail down my neck, over my collarbone, his touch both gentle and commanding. "Look at me," he says.

I raise my eyes, meeting his gaze. His expression is unreadable, his emotions hidden behind a mask of calm dominance. "You’re mine now, Avery. For this night, and this night alone. Do you understand?"

"Yes," I whisper, my voice trembling.

He smiles, a slow, dangerous curve of his lips. "Then let’s begin."

His hands move to my gown, his fingers deftly unlacing it, the fabric sliding off my shoulders and pooling at my feet. I stand before him, bare and vulnerable, the cool air caressing my skin. Drake’s gaze rakes over me, his eyes darkening with hunger.

"Beautiful," he murmurs, stepping closer. "So very beautiful."

He presses me back onto the bed, his body looming over mine, his presence overwhelming. His lips brush mine, a soft, teasing touch that sends sparks of desire through my veins. "Surrender to me, Avery. Let go."

I close my eyes, letting his words wash over me, letting the fear and doubt melt away. I’m here, in this moment, with him. And for the first time, I let myself fall, let myself be consumed by the darkness and the desire.

Drake’s touch is both gentle and firm, his hands exploring every inch of my body, his lips trailing kisses along my skin. I arch into his touch, my breath coming in short gasps, my body responding to his command. He teases and tantalizes, his fingers brushing, his lips grazing, never quite giving me what I need.

"Please," I whisper, my voice hoarse with need.

He chuckles, a low, dark sound. "Not yet. Not until you’re completely mine."

His fingers trail lower, his touch deliberate, his intent clear. I squirm beneath him, my body aching, my mind clouded with desire. "Drake, I—"

"Shh," he says, pressing a finger to my lips. "Just feel."

And I do. I feel everything—the heat of his body, the pressure of his touch, the ache of my need. I’m lost in the moment, lost in him, my thoughts a blur of sensation and surrender.

Then, suddenly, he’s there, his lips capturing mine in a fierce, hungry kiss. His hands grip my hips, his body pressing into mine, his touch demanding, his desire undeniable. I moan into his mouth, my body arching, my senses overwhelmed.

"Now," he growls, his voice thick with need. "Now, Avery."

And I shatter. The pleasure crashes over me, wave after wave, my body trembling, my mind blank. Drake’s name is a whisper on my lips, his touch anchoring me, his presence consuming me.

When it’s over, I lie limp in his arms, my breath coming in ragged gasps, my body still buzzing with the aftermath of my release. Drake holds me close, his lips brushing my forehead, his touch gentle.

"It’s done," he murmurs. "The amulet is yours."

He reaches into his pocket, pulling out the glowing relic, and places it in my hand. The moment my fingers close around it, a surge of power courses through me, the magic of the amulet merging with my own. I gasp, my eyes widening as I feel the Primal Flame respond, its power now under my control.

Drake smiles, his expression soft, almost tender. "You’ve done well, Avery. Now go. Your mates await. I will see you again when you have saved us all. Go, little Queen, your future awaits."

I nod, my heart still racing, my body still humming with the echoes of our encounter. I dress quickly, the amulet clutched tightly in my hand, and make my way back to the group. They’re waiting for me, their faces a mix of relief and concern, their eyes searching mine for any sign of distress.

"Avery?" Cassius asks, his voice tight.

I smile, stepping into his embrace. "I’m fine. It’s done. The amulet is mine." The others hug me. “It wasn’t a trap or a trick. He gave me control, a bit of himself, and the knowledge that we have a future to look forward to.”

They relax, their tension easing, their hands reaching out to touch me, to reassure themselves that I’m unharmed. But as I look into their eyes, I see something else—a question, a doubt. They know something has changed, something between Drake and me, something they can’t quite understand.

But for now, it’s enough. The amulet is mine, the Primal Flame is under control, and we’re one step closer to Altima Island. The journey ahead is still fraught with danger, but with the power of the amulet and the strength of my mates, I know we can face whatever comes next.

Draven, Rory, and Jace all hug me. Draven looks into my eyes, “I know you did what you had to do, but I wish that you didn’t have to.” He bites his lip. “I had thought that I was evil because I killed my brother. My parents blamed me. They made my life hell, and that’s why I wanted a dragon. I wanted that added magic to escape that hell and find my mate. Avery, you were both my salvation and redemption. If my brother tries to harm you or anyone you love, I will end him once and for all. I love you, Avery.” I didn’t have words to reply to what he just said, so I kissed his cheek and hugged him. Rory and Jace opted to make it a group hug, and soon my mates joined in.

As we step through the exit, leaving the Primordial realm behind, I feel a sense of resolve settle over me. The choices I’ve made, the sacrifices I’ve endured—they’ve all led me here. And I’m ready. Ready to face the darkness, ready to claim my destiny, ready to fight for the ones I love.

But as we move forward, I can’t shake the feeling that Drake’s presence lingers, his shadow stretching across our path. The night we shared was a sacrifice, a transaction, but it was also something more. Something I can’t quite name. And as we disappear into the unknown, I wonder—what other choices await us? What other sacrifices will we have to make?
