CHAPTER 22

At that time everyone was scared and shocked, they didn’t want to see anything happening to the young lady or the family. When one priest said that in order to purify the young lady, she needed to be burnt on the pyre so that in her next life she will be born with good karma.
If she got killed, then the whole family will be safe and there will be no harm to them. In order to secure the safety of the clan and appease the royal family, the family dealt with the witch problem internally and burnt her at the pyre.
It was a devastating time for everyone as the screams were horrifying and brought nightmares to every single member who witnessed the death of their mistress.
The princess was appeased and left the Leigh family alone but at that time the Leigh family didn’t know that they had been played by the royal family at that time. The truth only came out after a decade when a maid of the princess was saved form death by one of the Leigh’s guards.
The elders were mad and angry at the princess for causing so much pain to the family. They also blamed themselves for being easily bullied that they believed the nonsense they heard instead of standing by their family’s side.
The family began to amass more power and when they were ready, they fought ruthlessly against the royal family and after the war they won and let a capable ruler on the throne.
From then going onwards the Leighs went into seclusion and the rules had been set into stone. You don’t bother us and we won’t bother you too. The Leighs minded their own business and in the following years another witch appeared which became the last.
This first witch in the Leigh family strengthened the family and brought a lot of benefits to the family until she left the clan one day and when they heard news of her, she had died in a war against vampires.
They saw a lot of crazy things but they never saw another supernatural in their family again.
“I just didn’t expect that in this generation I will see a witch with my own eyes. I will finally rest in peace now. You don’t have to worry about anything happening to your daughter. She should come home and the legacy left behind by the ancestor will be handed over to her.”
Darcie cried when she heard this, she had misunderstood her family for years and because of that she spoiled her weak relationship with her child when they just met.
“She is just angry, after all you have both not been in her life for long and when you met so many things happened. You should not give up but keep on persisting. You should try to give her something that she may like,” the grand elder softly said.

“What can I give her?”
“The ancestors’ things, you can just give it to her and maybe she will come and acknowledge the ancestors,” the grand elder changed his mind again. It will be better to give it to her now and maybe she will ease the knot in her heart.
“I can take it?”
“Yes, I will have someone bring it to you. Give it to her when you see her, make sure you give it to her with your own hands. You need to make a good impression in front of her or else the shadow of being rejected will be deeply imprinted in her mind.”
“I will keep your advice and follow your instructions.”
Seeing that she was willing to accept her wrongdoings and correct them, the grand elder nodded his head with satisfaction. He sent someone to pick the chest that had been kept safely for centuries to be used by the next witch of the family.
“You must safe guard the chest with your life until you hand it over to Enchantia, do you understand me?”
“Yes, I do. I will not fail you or my daughter.”
Darcie took the chest away with her and kept it safely in her bedroom. Darcie decided to leave in two days with her mother since she also wanted to have someone more mature than her. Maybe Encha will be more accepting when Aya was around.
Enchantia who was making people so busy didn’t know anything of this but was busy studying like a maniac since exams were nearing. She had played too much with her friends and sneaked around with Keaton which she didn’t regret at all as he has many ways of making her forget about all stressful matters.
In order to keep her mind in track, Encha cast aside the issue of her biological parents. She didn’t even tell her foster parents about it as they will simply bomb her with questions and they will be worried.
Her foster parents were too nice and will ask her to reconcile with her biological parents, something that she wasn’t even willing to do at the moment.
What she needed to do was study, write her exams before her eighteenth birthday and get married on her birthday. She will be waiting for her results while on her honeymoon and spending quality time with her man.
Nevaeh kissed her daughter on the forehead and placed the snacks and juice on her desk. She had noticed how distracted Encha had been before burying herself in her books.
She knew that she will not tell her but she needed to find out and the only person that could help her was Keaton. He will never keep something from her if she asks him after all he is someone who was concerned with every little thing that Encha does.
Nevaeh left Encha’s bedroom and went to the sitting room where she picked up her phone and made the call. When Keaton saw the caller I.D he didn’t know how to react. He just didn’t expect to receive this call sooner.
“I am sorry for calling you this late,” Nevaeh apologized as soon as she began to talk and Keaton brushed it off quickly.
“Aunt, how can I help you?”
“I need you to be honest with me, what is going on with Encha? She had been reading like some nerd here, I am getting worried. She doesn’t behave like that. Did something happen between you two?”
“No aunt, we are doing fine. It’s just that the matter should be discussed in person and not on the phone. How about we meet tomorrow when Encha is at school and we will discuss about it?” Keaton suggested and Nevaeh accepted it.
Since the matter should be discussed in person then it meant that it was serious. Nevaeh ended the call after exchanging some pleasantries and she went to the study where her husband was busy marking some papers.
“Did you find out why our baby is acting that way?” even the old man noticed the oddity of things, how can she not?
“Not yet but Keaton may have an idea and he asked to us tomorrow after Encha is gone to school.”

“I guess that Encha didn’t want to worry us which is why she didn’t tell us. Let us wait for Keaton then.”
“I hope that it is not that serious. I don’t want anything to happen to her,” Nevaeh spoke worriedly.
She wasn’t able to have a child in this lifetime and after so many years of searching she finally met Enchantia whom she felt connected to the second they met.
She named her Enchantia as she got enchanted the second, she saw her. She wanted the child to enchant others the same way she did to her so that she will not be lonely but live happily with people around her.
“Nothing will go wrong. She has us with her so be at ease,” Isaac coaxed his wife.
The two remained in the study and left together after an hour for the bedroom. They had a long day the next day and hope that things will not be serious as this will break their hearts.
They didn’t want anything bad to fall on their child, they would rather face it than let that baby suffer anything.
