CHAPTER 24
She knew that killing was bad and very immoral but she couldn’t find the energy to reprimand her. She did what she could to keep everyone safe from that pest. She had truly suffered.
“Thank you for telling us, we really appreciate it.”
“Just don’t tell her that you know, she may over react,” Keaton gave them a warning and hoped that they will abide by it. He didn’t know what that girl will do if she finds something amiss.
The couple didn’t have energy to linger around so they bid Keaton goodbye and returned. They had a lot of information to digest and think about.
“Do you still remember when you returned from that man’s funeral?”
“Yes, I do. Encha hugged the three of us and said some nonsensical words and we just laughed it off. We didn’t even notice the oddness of her statement,” Isaac sighed as he recalled that night.
He had just returned from the funeral when Encha hugged him alongside his wife. She was just like a child who was scared that something bad will happen to them just like how this person had died leaving his family behind.
“You don’t have to worry child. We will not leave you until we meet our great grandkids,” Isaac had joked with her that night and she looked at him with a teary face.
“I will protect you; I will not let anything harm you at any costs,” she had said with a serious face and he and Nevaeh had laughed it off and even agreed with her.
“Yes, yes, our baby will protect us. So, we will not fear anything. So, grow up quickly and protect us well,” Nevaeh had said and she nodded her head in agreement.
Thinking back to that time they should have suspected something but their child was just too good at hiding her emotions, she had always been a hard nut to crack. Unless she wants someone to see it, she will always be in hiding.
Isaac held his wife’s hand and caressed it.
“I don’t want to part her, even if she kills a thousand more, I will bury the corpses for her. Don’t let them take her away from me, please,” Nevaeh pleaded while looking at her husband with a teary face.
“She is our child and we will not give her to anyone. The final choice will belong to Encha but I have total faith in her that she will not leave us otherwise she will have been gone after meeting them,” Isaac said as he consoled his wife.
“Yes, that is true. She will not leave, if they come to us then we will just meet them and not budge,” seeing her resolute face Isaac softened up.
He may be weak and not well connected but he won’t be letting his child go without a fight.
Nevaeh was not in a good anymore so she let her husband drive her back to their home where she remained behind to cook a scrumptious dinner for her baby when she returns.
Encha was easy to satisfy, all she needed was good food and the kid will be smiling and laughing. So, what if she did all those crazy things? They all deserved it, if she had not done it then she would be the one buried six feet under.
Isaac returned back to his workplace and resumed the day as if nothing had happened but his colleagues and students could tell that something was fishy but didn’t probe further. Who didn’t know about his temper? He was only a harmless person in front of his wife and child.
Isaac broke a pen in two as he thought of that bastard who died in a fire. It was a good thing he died or else he was going to give him a gruesome death. It wasn’t that he never suspected a foul play; he just couldn’t find who the culprit was.
He even saw how angry that colleague of his was when he got promoted. He even made things difficult for him but in less than three months the man died in a fire in his own car and there was no foul play in it.
He didn’t feel sad when the man dies, he had made too many enemies, the students were even celebrating. He was a man of no principals, Encha did them a great favor and removed a scourge off the earth.
That night when he returned home, he was welcomed with a house filled with laughter as Nevaeh listened to Encha who was busy mimicking teachers at her school. It seemed like she slept during class and the teacher made things difficult for her.
“You aren’t supposed to be sleeping in class,” Isaac said as he entered the room and his beloved daughter smiled brightly at him before running into his arms.
He hugged his daughter for a while, she had truly grown up, how years just pass by like that.
“The class was boring,” she said as she blinked innocently at him. He just gave in in a pampering way and she gave him a smooch on his cheek.
“This girl,” he laughed as he watched her running back to Nevaeh.
Apart from all the crazy things he had heard, when he just looks at her, all he can see is a child in a girl that just wants to play and have some fun. He knew that her child was good but how did she attract Keaton? Was he attracted by that ruthless side of her or this cute side of her?
He knew his daughter more than them which meant that he had been keeping an eye on her for years, no wonder why he didn’t get fazed by all this. At least he accepted her as she is which was a huge relief.
The family of three had dinner sharing jokes with each other and that night Encha slept with her parents and had them tell her bedtime stories.
