CHAPTER 23

At lunch the next day Nevaeh, Isaac and Keaton met together at one of Keaton’s private restaurants as he didn’t want to attract any attention from the paparazzi or enemies.
When the three met, Keaton had a feast brought to their private room so that they may fill their stomachs.
“Can you tell us what is happening?” Nevaeh was very anxious that the delicious food on the table didn’t even appeal to her.
Keaton knew that stalling will not work as these individuals still had to return to work and digest the unfortunate news, he was about to tell them.
“Enchantia met with her biological parents,” Keaton decided to not sugar coat anything and just say it straight to them.
Nevaeh’s hand shook and her eyes began to flutter. She was about to cry but Isaac held her hand.
“How did she even find them? Was she looking for them?” Isaac the calm one asked.
“They were the ones that looked for her and she didn’t want to meet them but they still did. There is something that I need you to know but she won’t ever forgive me if I tell you,” Keaton said as he contemplated whether it will be good to just tell them the truth.
He knew that Encha didn’t want her foster parents to know the real side of her but he doubted if they will leave her when they know. It was better to have your beloved ones to be with you during the times when things are sour like this.
“We will shoulder the consequences, please just tell us.”
“You need to listen to me carefully because I will not be saying this ever again, it just drives me crazy whenever I think about it,” Keaton spoke firmly and Isaac noticed the bulging veins on Keaton’s hands.
Isaac knew that whatever they will be hearing next will make them behave the same way Keaton was. Something that they didn’t know may pertain to her childhood and he wanted to know about that part importantly. Something heavy had been weighing on his mind for over a decade.
“It’s like this….”
Nevaeh was now crying as Keaton kept on talking about Enchantia’s past and childhood. No wonder why she just pretended as if she didn’t remember. For a child to go through such torment, if it was her se would have turn psychopathic. It was a good thing that they found her and brought her home.
It was great that they showered her with love and never raised at her because that would have darkened the shadow in her heart. She was very grateful that she met her and brought the child home with them otherwise she will never forgive herself.
“The important thing in this whole story is the real identity of your daughter. She is a witch and she had been hiding that from you because she felt like you will abandon her if you know,” Keaton said as he sipped his wine.
Nevaeh froze for a second before she brushed it off.
“So, what if she is witch or something? She is still my daughter and I raised her. I don’t give a damn what she is because to me she will always be my daughter. How could she think of that?” Nevaeh sobbed as she clenched her fists tightly.
“She is a child that went through harsh times, so you need to understand that. This may be also one of the reasons why she didn’t want to tell you about her biological parents because they parted in bat terms because they reacted badly when they knew about it.
This is the reason why she is being cranky; she feels abandoned and that she can’t be accepted. What you need to do is to accept her as who she is. She committed crimes in her small life but everything she did was to survive and protect herself and some of it was to keep you safe,” Keaton let the cat out of the bag.
“What do you mean by your last sentence?” Isaac asked as he realized something odd from it.
“Do you remember when you had an accident two years ago?” Keaton asked Isaac and Isaac nodded his head in agreement.
“It was no accident, someone tried to kill you and it wasn’t the first time they did. The same thing happened to Nevaeh when she ended up in the hospital for food poisoning. Someone was targeting your lives desperately and it was Encha who dealt with that person,” Keaton pronounced each word slowly to let these parents know of the horrible things that their daughter just to keep this family intact.
“Who-who was it?”
“Your colleague at work who didn’t get promoted when you did, the one who died in a fire,” Keaton answered Isaac who seemed to recall the death of a certain lecturer at school.

He didn’t know what to think at all, he was speechless, shocked and baffled.
“She…”
“The police didn’t do anything when you both died, let’s just say he got unlucky the third time when he tried to target Encha and met his end. I am not trying to scare you away with all this, I just want you to know who your daughter is exactly.
I also want you to know that she told her biological parents that she will never go with them because she loves being with you and she even called you her parents in front of those two. Her affection for you both is greater than anyone else’s. So, you don’t have to worry about her leaving you for them as her heart is with you.”
“Hihihihi, aaghh my baby has suffered. I didn’t know, how couldn’t I know?” Nevaeh let the flood gates open and began to sob loudly.
Her heart truly ached after hearing all that, to think that their baby could kill in order to keep their family safe was so heartbreaking. If Keaton had not said these words, then she would have been in the dark for the rest of her life.
