Chapter 10.
Chapter 10.
Estella’s POV.
*I pick up a dark purple book and there it is, my mothers name.*
"Elana Moone, born in Clove County. She was a fairy!" I say looking up to Collin with excitement as I feel butterflies fill my stomach.
"Clove County is the lost land of the fairies." Collin states. "I remember legends of them being told to us as children, the fae people control the magic of the elements." He says softly as I feel a smile cross my face.
“In school I had a teacher that was obsessed with the fae, he believed they still existed and were just hidden from prying eyes. He said only pure creatures with good intentions could find them, some people thought they were fake but he always said they were real.” He states as we keep looking.
We continue reading the book for a few minutes about the history of the fae people, according to the book their natural size is the same as a human but they have the ability to shrink down which is when they have their wings. Besides that they look like normal people but can control the elements, and use elemental magic in their "human" form.
The fairies are each blessed with a specific power they excel in, they’re beautiful creatures. Tall, thin and porcelain like dolls. It says their eyes glimmer as if they hold the magic themselves. My mother comes from a higher family in the fae community it’s said her ancestors are powerful and able to use all elements in magic effortlessly and much stronger then the other fairies.
A few chapters over I find my fathers last name "FERN" written in big letters across the top of the page.
"My father was a pixie?" I say with confusion.
“I thought pixies and fairies were the same thing?” I say quietly almost to myself.
"I thought pixies didn’t exist?" Collin says as he reads the page quietly.
"What even are they?" I ask again noticing he didn’t hear me.
"They’re kind of like fairies except they don’t have their own magic, they have to use the magic of pixie or fairy dust which comes from a specific plant in Clove County. it was said that the pixies all died off after the frozen year." Collin states rubbing his head trying to understand what this all means.
“What was the frozen year?” I ask in confusion.
“Because the pixies didn’t have their own magic they started looking for ways to obtain magic for their own uses, they were growing plants to have their own magic supply. Which wouldn’t have been an issue but they weren’t using the magic properly it was unstable and started to consume them, the pixies became dark and preforming dark rituals.” He states as my eyes go wide watching him speak.
“I guess a group of witches cursed the pixie lands with ice causing the frozen year, it was said all the pixies were killed and I guess everyone just moved on. I remember reading about it in school too but there wasn’t a lot of information.” He finishes.
"So my mother was a fairy, and my father was a pixie?" I question out loud taking it all in as we both sit in confusion.
"So what does that mean for me?" I say curiously, maybe now we can find my family.
"I’m not sure, I guess we will need to learn more about the fae people and their magic to see how you can learn to have more control over using it." He says closing the book and pulling me in to a hug.
My heart pounds as I think over everything we just learned, why did I never know about any of this? I think to myself as Collin speaks breaking me from my thoughts.
"Your magic comes from your mother, your father being a pixie means he didn’t have his own magic to use, where as your mother did so I guess we start there." He says as we stand to leave the library taking the book with us.
By the time we reach the castle it’s time for dinner and my stomach is growling loudly, Collin chuckles as he spins me around kissing me deeply, sparks spring from our lips and pleasure fills my body while my excitement continues to grow.
"Time for dinner my little mate." He says sweetly as we head to the kitchen hand in hand.
We open the kitchen doors as the most amazing smell comes pouring through making my mouth water. The cooks made a huge roast beef, with carrots potatoes gravy and peas, god I didn’t realize how hungry I was. I fill my plate and sit next to Collin while already filling my face, he looks at me laughing as I suddenly feel embarrassed eating like a troll.
"We need to plan your Luna ceremony." He says as I almost choke on my food and my heart skips.
"Don’t worry I’ve assigned Steele to help you plan your ceremony as well as after party." Collin says chuckling as he realizes my discomfort. I finish swallowing my food and nod.
"What do I need to do?" I ask nervously when I slow down eating, trying to listen to his instructions.
"The ceremony will start out mingling within the castle as the other packs show up, once everyone arrives we will have a huge dinner and introduce you as our new Luna. I will welcome you up on stage and you will vow to protect and support our pack.” He states as I nod still chewing.
“Other packs?” I ask softly.
“Yes, the surrounding packs will be joining for the celebration of the new Luna, it means a lot to all of us that you’re here now.” He says and my heart begins to pound again, I have to take a deep breath to make it subside.
“After that we will have the after party, it’s all pretty simple but it’s traditional. After the party we will go out to the forest and I lead the wolf run." He says and I nod as I continue eating. That doesn’t seem to hard I think to myself.
After we are both done eating Collin has some pack work he has to attend to so I go up to our room with the book we took from the library. I plop myself down on to our bed and open the book soaking in as much information as I can, which isn’t hard. Once I start it’s almost impossible to stop. I never really wondered about my family, I mean I knew I had one I just didn’t think about them. They didn’t want me so who was I to go find them.
I go back to reading my book after reminiscing the reasons I never bothered searching for answers, I guess after I got misfit she was all the family I needed I didn’t think about it anymore. My grandparents names are Loral Moone and Onyx Moone they’re the King and Queen of the fae people, the book says they were very powerful and were the ones to bring the changes of seasons, their magic alone was strong enough to begin the change in to a new climate.
I wonder if I could find them, I wonder if they even know I exist. If I come from a powerful line of fairies how did I end up in a small village? I have so many questions, I’m going to have to talk to Collin about getting hold of my grandparents and getting some answers, I think to myself as I slowly start to drift off in to a deep sleep.
I wake up to Collin gently lifting me and moving me over in the bed, his body’s so warm pressed against me, I roll over curling up next to him with my head on his chest as I feel him softly growl. I fall back asleep listening to the steady rhythm of his heart beat relaxing me in to meditation.
