Chapter 35.
Chapter 35.
Amelia’s POV.
I finish folding all the new born clothes tucking them away in the dresser neatly as Estella walks in carrying my new little niece, I smile holding my hands out to take the baby while she gently hands her over to me.
“Collin and Loral just left to the rogue village and I feel like I should be there helping.” She says throwing herself in to the rocking chair in the corner as I gently coo bouncing the baby while listening to her concerns.
“The fight took a lot out of you Estella, you need to rest and Collin knows that. I’m sure he would have taken you but you just had a baby and you need to heal, so stop worrying and just enjoy this little nugget.” I say happily as I rock her back and forth as she nods sitting back.
“Where’s mom?” My heart drops at her question and my body freezes.
“She’s in with Steele, would you like to see her?” I ask coldly as my muscles clench.
“Have you seen her yet?” She asks and I shake my head aggressively.
“I’ve been waiting for you, I didn’t want to go alone.” I answer, I feel her touch my shoulder making me jump. I didn’t even notice she stood up, she never met our mother, she gave her up as a baby, I had a few years with her and hell I barley remember her.
I grew up alone in a cell, someone would come in and give me food every once in a while but I never left that room. I didn’t have anyone in there to look up to or learn from, it was only me. Sometimes Rick would take me outside to play when I was little but it wasn’t for long. I cherished those days I got to go out, feeling the wind on my face, smelling the grass after it had rained. I wanted to be outside more then anything and one day it just stopped, he didn’t take me out anymore and I was once again stuck in that room alone.
After a few minutes we decide to go find her, she should be a couple rooms over with Steele. Walking in we see her bending over the bed with Steele rubbing her back.
“What’s going on?” I ask still holding River.
“Contractions started, Doctor Marlowe is on her way and we’re going to the birthing suite.
“Ok I guess we’re going to the birthing suite.” Estella says clapping her hands together and I step behind her letting her lead. I’m not good in these situations especially when I barely even know my mother and she’s about to give birth to another one of my sisters. We all go in to the birthing suite as Doctor Marlowe comes in quickly.
“Never a dull moment with you guys.” She says giggling as everyone helps my mother while I stand back, out of the way with the baby.
“I’m going to go put the baby down for a nap.” I say softly as Estella nods still helping the Doctor and Steele as I quietly slip out the door bringing the baby back to the nursery, going in I quietly change her bum putting her in to clean pyjamas and sit down to rock her in the chair before placing her in her crib.
I close the door to the nursery slowly sliding my body down the cold wood as I exhale deeply. It’s been hard getting used to everything, being around so many people, being apart of a family. I take few minutes to myself to calm down, preparing myself to go back in and join my sister.
“Contractions are about 2 minutes apart, we can get ready to push.” Doctor Marlowe says as I walk back in to the room.
“Already?” I ask softly.
“Once you have so many dear your body just knows what to do.” My mother says between deep breaths climbing back in to the bed.
A few moments later my sister hands me a beautiful little baby, she’s so quiet. She doesn’t cry at all her little face scrunches as she wiggles around in my arms and I watch her with satisfaction. Doctor Marlowe takes the baby from me to check her out, I slowly join Estella beside our mothers bed.
“Did you find your sisters?” She turns to ask us between laboured breaths.
“Not yet, Collin and Loral are back at the rogue village now, they are looking for them.” Estella answers as I stare at the floor.
“Amelia dear?” My mother asks, my eyes stuck to the floor as she speaks.
“Amelia I know you could never understand and it will take time for you to forgive me, but I’m truly sorry I didn’t get to raise you and I’m so sorry you ended up with the life you did.” She says as I let her words fall off me. It’s not that I don’t want to listen it’s just that I can’t, not yet.
Estella and I leave our mother to rest and go to one of the old abandoned pack houses, we need to get it cleaned up and ready for the rogues. The building is on the far side of the pack and it’s a huge house with over 40 rooms, the structure is strong it’s just dusty and unused.
“Why did the pack stop using this one?” I ask as Estella pulls out cleaning supply’s.
“Collin said he closed down parts of the pack that weren’t being used, his father always meant to update some of the buildings and expand the pack. After his father died some things he just wasn’t able to re open.” She answers softly as I nod helping her take the cleaning supply’s out.
We each take one side of the hallway working our way through each room, I start stripping all the beds while Estella follows behind to remake them. Next I dust while she wipes surfaces, then I sweep each room and she mops behind me. Before we know it the bedrooms are all done and we are moving on to the bathrooms and kitchen. It seems like we spend the entire day laughing and joking while we clean, looking out the window I realize it’s almost dark.
“We should hurry up Collin should be back soon with the rogues.” I say breaking Estella from her concentration.
“Oh wow, I didn’t realize how late it was. I should call the nanny.” She says pulling out her phone making me chuckle, I bring all our supply’s to the front porch when I see a pack of wolves running towards the pack house, Collin leading the bunch.
“Estella! They’re here!” I shout as I finish grabbing the last of the cleaning stuff seeing the wolves all begin to shift grabbing clothes from the long table sitting out front. They come carrying children and buggy’s full of stuff, my heart pounds in my ears as I watch the wolves who held me captive pile on to our land one by one getting comfortable preparing to live.
I take a few deep breaths trying to calm myself down as Estella walks up behind me, we stand together while Collin gets closer and I notice Loral’s small fluttering glimmer flying next to him. She changes back as Collin picks Estella up in a big hug while the rest of the wolves shift or collapse to the ground after their journey.
“Holy, a lot of them decide to come.” Estella says softly as Collin chuckles.
“I guess they only followed Rick because they had no other choice, this was how they kept their sanity living in a pack. It was a messed up pack but still a pack.” He says looking over to the wolves. “They just want a fresh start, most were kicked out of their packs for speaking out on absurd pack laws or misunderstandings. I spoke with a lot of them, they are family’s just looking to have a good life and I think we can give that to them.” He finishes as Estella smiles brightly and my heart flutters.
It’s amazing seeing the bond they share, I’ve never had that. I’ve often wondered if I ever will but I’ve lost hope in finding the perfect person for me.
“This will be your pack house, some of you may need to share rooms until we get housing sorted out.” Collin yells over the crowd.
“After you are all settled we will meet in the garden and go over pack rules, we’re happy to have you all here and hope you all settle in soon.” Everyone watches their new Alpha talk as they nod agreeing to his plan.
Estella, Collin and I walk back to the gardens talking about what our future plans are for the new land we’ve taken over. Loral stays behind to help everyone move in and get settled, she’ll meet us back at the pack house later.
