Chapter 24.

Chapter 24
Estella’s POV.

The smell of pancakes wakes me up from my warm slumber, my eyes flicker open searching for the delicious smell as my mouth waters and my gaze lands on Steele and Clover sitting in front of me. I smile brightly sitting up taking the pancakes from Steele.
“Well good morning Luna.” Clover says giggling as I start filling my mouth with the hot sweet syrup.
“What time is it?” I try to ask through my obnoxious chewing as they both mock me laughing.

“10 o’clock.” Steele finally says going to my closet to riffle through my clothes.
“Good goddess why did I sleep so long?” I ask blinking frantically looking around.
“Collin told us to let you sleep in, I have already shown Clover around the castle and we’re going to go in to the gardens soon if you’d like to join us?” Steele says giving me a light green sun dress.

I jump up taking the dress in to the bathroom closing the door behind me, I quickly strip and brush my teeth before tossing the dress on, I pull my hair back in to a long fish tail braid and add some mascara. Walking back in to my bedroom I see the girls sitting on my bed chatting away.
“Well I see you two warmed up quick.” I laugh as they both stand and we start our way outside.

Steele loves her garden, she comes here every day to tend to her plants and pick fresh veggies and herbs for the cooks. Walking in her face lights up, Clovers does as well actually which makes me incredibly happy, I never had sisters and I connect so well with these girls it’s amazing. Steele walks over picking up a large stem covered in bright roses holding it up to her nose inhaling deeply, I notice Clover walking over to the large cherry blossom tree in the middle of the garden.

She sits down gently closing her eyes as she raises her hands, Steele notices too walking over to join me. The fallen pink flower petals begin to slowly lift off the ground fluttering around her, more and more small flowers continue to join with each passing second as my eyes light up and Steele looks completely stunned watching. The flowers rise higher spinning and twirling all around, I reach my hand out touching them allowing them to cling to my skin.

Clover gently grabs my hand pulling me to her, both my hands in hers I can feel her magic tingle against my skim.
“Close your eyes, feel it, let it flow in to you.” She says as I comply, I feel her tingles spread across my skin igniting my magic as it moves through me. I pull my hands away focusing on my tingling fingers, I begin to imagine the flowers flowing around me the way Clover was doing.

I picture them lifting up levitating in a soft bliss, when I open my eyes Steele and Clover are both sitting there staring at me stunned. I look around as the flowers continue to flow, they’re different now. No longer pink, the bright blue flowers that have fallen from the tree gently hover and I look around at them confused.

“Well that wasn’t supposed to happen.” Clover says giggling as Steele comes closer.
“How did you change their colour?” She asks just as confused as I am. I shrug my shoulders in response as they both burst in to laughter.
“Ok well I’m definitely going to ask Loral about that, I’ve never changed my magic like that.” She stops for a moment to think.
“Maybe it’s the pixie gene, they need fairy dust to do magic so maybe you feed off your own.” She says off in her own mind space thinking.

Steele and I stand looking between each other as the ground rumbles, I crouch down and Steele stands in front of me ready to attack. Waiting for what ever made that aggressive shake.
“We need to run.” Steele says grabbing my shoulders. “NOW!” I turn around looking behind me to see a pack of wolves barreling towards us as my heart pounds in my ears and panic overcomes me.

We start running back to the castle when I see our wolves bolting towards us, leaping over us towards the rogues. Just before we reach the castle I hear Clover scream and I’m suddenly jerked backwards falling to the ground and everything goes black.

“Estella, Estella wake up.” A soft voice says as I try to pull myself out of the darkness.
“Estella you need to wake up.” The voice repeats and I fight to open my eyes, why do I feel so weak. My eyes finally flicker open but my visions blurry, Clovers silhouette becomes more clear with each blink.
“What happened?” I ask, my voice harsh and coarse.
“I’m not sure I just woke up beside you.” She responds as I sit up and look around, we are inside a dark cold room. Small candles line the stone walls with wax dripped down the hard rocks.

“Where the hell are we?” I ask rubbing my head realizing the splitting head ache as we both look around.
“Where’s Steele?” Realizing she’s not with us.
“I’m not sure I think it’s only the two of us.” Clover says softly as I try to stand and my body aches.
“Does your body hurt as much as mine?” I ask brushing the dirt off myself, I squint looking through the dark as Clover clings on to me.

The stone room is huge, I walk up to the large solid door trying to pull it open and it burns me, I pull my hand back quickly.
“What the hell?” I say slowly moving my hand back to try and touch it again, this time the burn becomes more intense searing through my muscles as I feel the bones in my fingers stiffen and ache,

“Why the hell can’t I touch it?” I ask as Clover walks over bending down to look at the twisted metal handle.
“It’s iron.” She says not getting to close to it. “Well they know we’re faries, which answers why Steele’s not in here.” She says standing back up as a noise comes from behind us.

“Steele? Is that you?” I ask softly scared to find out what the sound was.
“Hello?” Small voice asks making me flinch as Clover links her arms to me.
“Hello? You can come out, we won’t hurt you.” I say softly peering through the darkness and a small girl comes in to view. She’s skinny and pail, her long dark hair flows lifelessly down her back in messy knots. Pale green eyes stare up at us as my heart flutters reaching to hers.

“Who are you?” I ask stepping towards her with Clover still clung to me.
“I think my name is Amelia.” She says softly looking down making me feel guilty and hurt for her.
“You think?” I ask making her look up to me.
“I’ve been kept in this room since I can remember, they just call me girl or fairy.” She answers softly.

“They? Who are they?” I ask as she sits down on the cold floor, Clover and I join her quietly waiting for her to continue.
“The wolves, they took me as a baby.” I move closer to her, looking at all the groves in her skin, she’s covered in scars, her cheeks sunken in and big dark circles under her eyes.

“Do you know why they took you?” I ask curiously trying too make the connection as to why they might have taken us as well.
“I’ve heard them say something about building an army, I think they want to mate with us to build that army. Have you heard of werefae?” She asks as my heart drops and I can’t breath.
“Yes.” I say just above a whisper, my heart pounds as she continues.

“There are only a few fairies in the world who are able to produce wolf pups that harness the gifts of the fea.” She says softly.
“Normally fairies and wolves can’t have children together, these wolves have found a way around that and want an army of super human creatures.” She finishes as I sit there silent taking in everything she has just said.

“Why do they want to build an army?” I ask as confusion strikes.
“That’s one thing I don’t know, I only know what I over hear, they are more careful with what they say in front of me now that I’m older.” She states as I sit back trying to make a plan to get out of here.
