59-Are You Hungry?

**Saviera's POV**

We walk into the school and Daveed shows us where the teacher's lounge is before giving us a quick kiss and going to his classroom. We got a couple of weird looks from people passing by because the door is open, but who cares? At this point, we're used to people staring. It's probably the worst when we go to the grocery store together.
Zuri sits with me for a few minutes to make sure I feel okay and eventually left for the library. We went to the library once before, so she knows where it is. I'm on my phone and sitting on a little couch, scrolling through my social media page, when a few staff members came in. They all grab their food, so they pass the lard test.
"Hello. Are you new here?" One of the women asked.
I look up and say, "No, I'm just waiting on my fiance."
"Oh okay. What does he teach?" She seems like a genuinely nice person, so I keep the conversation going.
"He teaches history. Daveed Laurens." I figured she would ask who he is next, so I went ahead and told her who he is.
"Oh! Daveed is a great instructor. I'm Bailee James and I teach Psychology. This is Terra, she teaches Quantitative Reasoning, and this is Emmett, he teaches Communications." She introduces everyone.
"It's nice to meet you all. I was getting kind of bored in here by myself." For about fifteen minutes, we all talk and get to know one another. They're surprisingly super nice and I like their vibes. Shortly after they left, a short, skinny guy with overly greased hair comes in and grabs Daveed's lunch box. I pretend to play on my phone, snap a quick picture, and sent it to Daveed with a text saying "**The lard is skinny.**"
Daveed must have given his class a five-minute break because he comes into the room and just stares at the guy for a minute before saying anything. "Are you hungry, Jerry? You really been stealing my lunches like that?"
Lard Jerry looks up with an 'oh shit' look on his face. "I thought you were teaching a class right now," Is all he said as if that was a valid reason to eat his food.
Daveed has the most serious look on his face for about four seconds and then bursts into laughter. Jerry laughs with him and closes the lunch box. "I should have known it was you. Keep the spaghetti." Daveed snatches his lunch box and puts it back in the fridge. I'm not sure what to make of the situation because Daveed seems to know this person well enough to not be mad.
"Man, you always bring the best stuff. You can go home and eat this good shit." Jerry joked.
"I'll have my fiance pack you some stuff. All you had to do was ask, goofy! I've been starving here because of you." Daveed looked at me and winked, "Jerry, that's my fiance, Saviera."
Jerry turned around and looked at me with a shocked look, "I didn't even see her sitting there this whole time! It's nice to finally meet you. Is your other fiance here too?"
"You didn't see me because you went straight to Daveed's lunch. And yes, she's in the library," I said.
"Oh cool, I would love to meet her too. This one's the feisty one isn't it?" He's so awkward.
"Yeah this is the one," Daveed said proudly. "I need to get back to my class. I'll come back before my next one starts." He kisses my forehead and gets back to work.
"So, what subject do you teach?" I ask Jerry.
"Oh, I don't teach. I'm the IT guy." It suites him. "Daveed and I went to college together and he was one of the few people nice to me."
That warms my heart. "I'm glad you two crossed paths again here. And don't worry, I'll make your lunches too." I don't ask about his home life or why he is unable to bring a decent lunch. If Daveed is offering him lunches every day, I'm assuming it's for a reason.
"I really appreciate that. I know it was wrong, but I was going to tell him and pay him back when I could." He started explaining, but I cut it short.
"Don't worry about it. You don't need to explain anything to me. Obviously, Daveed isn't mad at you and he seems to understand enough." I don't want things to be more awkward, so I change the subject. "You want to go meet Zuri?"
His face lit up, "Of course. I've heard so much about you both." He finishes eating and we go to the library, where I find Zuri sitting at a table doing work and a girl standing kind of close to her. I see her say something and then she touched Zuri's hair.
"Hey, babe. Who's this?" I can't believe Zuri said she could touch her hair.
"I don't know, to be honest. She just came up to me and complimented my hair then started feeling it." She looks so uncomfortable.
I swat her hand away from Zuri, "Do not touch her hair without asking first. It's incredibly disrespectful and just weird. Go away." She pulled her hand back fast and stomped off.
I can see Zuri relax when the girl left the library, "Thank you, babe. You know I don't like to be rude about it. She was being nice at least."
"That's why you have me cause I'll gladly be rude about it. Anyway, Zuri, this is Jerry. Jerry, this is Zuri. Jerry is the one who was eating Daveed's lunch, but they're good friends so they had a nice laugh." They say hello and Zuri doesn't say anything about the lunch. Instead, he asked Zuri how school is going for her and we talked about random things.
Daveed is finally finished with all of his classes. He enters the library and sits in the chair right across from Zuri and me.
"How did your classes go?" I ask.
"Great, but time was going even slower than usual because I knew you two were here and I couldn't wait to get done. Let's go home." We stand up and Daveed steps in front of us. He rubs our tummies and says, "They're growing so fast. It won't be long before we have them here with us."
"It's getting real," Zuri responded. We love when he rubs our tummies and gives the babies attention. Not caring about the stares he's getting, he takes us by our hands and we walk out of the school together. We will forever be unapologetic.
