66-Honeymoon
**Zuri's POV**
We have our bags packed for the honeymoon and ready to leave when the doorbell rings. Daveed answers the door to reveal Saviera's midwife, and she has luggage.
"Elaine? What are you doing here?" Sav asked.
"Daveed has asked me to join for the trip to be safe. You are close to your due date, so he's being cautious. Don't worry, though! I won't be seen or heard, just close enough to be available in case of an emergency." I shouldn't be surprised, but he did not miss a beat when he planned for this honeymoon.
"So you know where he's taking us?" I ask.
"Yes, but I'm not telling you." So much for women sticking together.
Our Uber arrived, so Daveed loaded our things into the trunk. Thankfully, it's a van, and there is plenty of space.
After going through the security check at the airport, Daveed gives us our tickets, "Who's ready for New York?"
Sav and I nearly knock him over with excitement. We planned to go to New York over the summer, but we had to cancel the trip because of everything we had going on. We were looking forward to checking off the to-do list I had made for us so much that I had hung it up on the refrigerator.
"I can't believe we're finally going to New York!" Sav exclaimed.
"I didn't bring the to-do list, but I think I remember everything on it," I'm mostly excited to try different food places. I can't believe I'm even saying that, but I'm always hungry now.
"Don't worry, I brought it with us. I figured we could use adventure for our honeymoon since we already live in paradise," He is the sweetest.
"I love the way you think. What's our first adventure?" Sav asks.
"Our first stop would be the breakfast place that Zuri was raving about." He pulled the list from his pocket, "Egg-citing Eats?"
"The food looks amazing on the website. I want to try the Alaskan Breakfast Platter. It comes with ice cream." I sound like Sav.
We board the plane; I take the window seat, Sav takes the middle, and Daveed is on the outside. It's unfortunate for him because a child is sitting behind him who keeps kicking his seat.
"I should get used to this now because it'll be multiplied by three before too long," he mumbles.
"I heard it's even worse when it's your own," Sav joked,
"You heard correctly. My kids run me ragged," The mother behind us joked along, giving us a good laugh.
The flight went quickly, as we talked to our new friend behind us and her adorable, yet rambunctious, four-year-old son. Working with children, I've learned they aren't meant to sit still and stay quiet. Their little minds are so busy they just can't help it. It was a huge relief to be off the plane, but my bottom is sore from the chair. The way Sav is walking, I can tell she's feeling it too; it makes me laugh.
"What's so funny?" She asks.
"You're sore too, aren't you?" I ask, and she groans.
"Oh my gosh, yes! I can't wait to feel normal again. The farther along I get, the more miserable I feel. I wish I had one of those glamorous pregnancies where the mom is all perfect, and everything is great." She said.
"Is that even really a thing? I bet they elevate their swollen feet in private and suffer in silence." I said. Daveed is getting an Uber, but smiling at our mom gossip.
"I couldn't be silent about it. I'm a big baby." At least she's honest. She does complain a lot. And she's dramatic about it.
"Our Uber is here. Let's get to our hotel and prepare for the day." We settle into the car while Elaine takes different transportation. I guess she's staying at a separate place.
"I'm going to give you a head's up; our hotel isn't super fancy. I figured you two would prefer checking off all of the items on your list, so I couldn't afford a hotel that has a bidet instead of toilet paper." Daveed looks a little disappointed even though he's kidding about the toilets.
"We could stay at a cheap motel, and I would still be just as excited. We're going to have so much fun." I squeeze his hand.
At the hotel, we unpack our luggage and snoop around the suite. It might not be a super fancy hotel, but it is clean, and they have free breakfast in the morning. I already feel so exhausted, but we have all day ahead of us. I check the time to see it's only ten o'clock in the morning.
"I might have to take a little nap. I'm so tired." I yawn while talking.
"You read my mind. Let's see what this bed is about." Sav waddled to the bed and crawled up on it, "Now that I'm here, I don't think I can get back down."
"Let's take a much-needed nap, then we can go get that ice cream breakfast," Daveed suggested. I got in the middle, and he cuddled up next to me. Sav is to the point where she doesn't like to be touched while she sleeps, but I still play with her hair. We all were more worn out than we realized because we fell asleep instantly.
We slept the whole day away. It's almost five o'clock, and we are starving. We don't even bother getting dressed up or doing our hair before going to Egg-citing Eats. Thankfully, they serve breakfast all day, and they're open until nine-thirty. Sav orders the Monster French Toast, cheesy scrambled eggs, bacon, and fruit bowl. I get the Alaskan Platter, which contains two large buttermilk pancakes with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and whipped topping, sausage links, two over-medium eggs, and hashbrowns. Daveed ordered Cupcake Pancakes, sausage, bacon, and scrambled eggs. Their portions are large, but it tastes so good that I can't stop eating. Sav cleared her plate before Daveed and me, then rubs her tummy while she waits for us to finish.
"Jilly-bean loved that French toast. She's kicking me for eating way too much, though," Sav had to take some breaths. Maybe I should stop before I over-stuff myself and end up miserable.
"It looked delicious. I'm done eating, though." I said. Daveed took his last two bites and pushed his plate away from him as if he regrets eating.
"I went overboard, too." He rubbed his stomach, and I notice something I didn't before.
"Babe, you see that?" I ask Sav.
"Oh, I see it. Momma likes it." She's so goofy.
"What are you two going on about now?" He groaned.
"The dad bod you're officially rocking. It's yummy." His rock-hard abs have turned into a soft torso. His face is more filled out too. When you spend every day and every night with a person, you don't realize how much they gradually change over time.
"I haven't had time to work out as I used to, and you two make me want to eat weird combinations of food. On Friday, I dipped my potato chips in ketchup. I don't know what the hell that was about, but would I do it again? Absolutely." He starts talking about some other combinations that he has no shame eating.
"I say, we go back to the hotel. There are some things I would like to do, and I would get arrested for public indecency if I did it here." Sav said as she wiggles her eyebrows.
Daveed throws money on the check and says, "Let's go."
