Ginger Fox Part 3

"Jonathan... Your goal is your uncle." He smiles, showing his teeth, giving a light tap on my forehead.
"See, I told you you’re smart! Uncle Roy is like me. Well, or at least that’s what I thought until you came along." Jon wanted to reach Roy, needing a shortcut to his empire. "But it kind of disappointed me..."
I am forced to laugh through my pain upon hearing his harsh words.
"You’re disappointed, huh?" I bang my head against the wall slowly, closing my eyes, unable to bear the coldness in his gaze. My heart is shattered seeing the malice in the face of the boy I cared for so deeply, and he tells me he’s disappointed?!
"Of course, think about it. Uncle Roy is like me; I think he’s the only one who could be useful to me. Heartless, remorseful, just a brilliant mind." I open my eyes as I feel the revolver pressing against my leg, sliding down it. "But then you showed up, and Uncle Roy got dumb because of a pussy." It’s painful to hear these words from his mouth, empty and vulgar.
"Why didn’t you get me out of your way earlier, Jon?" God, he had slept beside me so many nights! The outings, the beach, the afternoons in the library... Why didn’t Jon remove me from the way? Opportunity was never lacking.
"I thought, I thought a lot about it. But Uncle Roy wouldn’t take it well; I think it would end up messing up my plans. He gets unstable around you." The behavior Jon considers unstable in Roy is seeing his uncle having emotions. Jon wants Jonathan as he was before: a closed-off and cold person. That would be stable behavior for the skinny guy. He plays with the revolver on my leg, making circles on my knee. "Did you see what he did in your room? His office was twice as bad..."
"That’s why you wanted to take me to the cabin, you wanted to show me Sonja." He shrugs, swinging the revolver in the air. "Since you couldn’t kill me, you wanted me to leave."
"Exactly! Even the photo frame that was hidden in the box, I took it out and arranged it for you to see Sonja. You can’t say I didn’t try to let you leave alive from here." I smile through my tears. I had told him in the woods that I wanted to leave this island alive, and he said I would leave because he already had everything planned. "In the end, it will turn out better than you could think. You left, you got off the island. Uncle Roy will go back to being what he was before, this thing will disappear." He points to Baby, looking at her with disgust. "I’ll stay by his side. In fact, I don’t think he’ll even care if she disappears, and without you in the way, he feels nothing."
I close my eyes, crying as the barrel of the revolver presses against my cheek.
"Bob was in your way, so you pushed him?" I press my lips together, pulling my legs close to me, and feel relief when the revolver moves away.
"Bob was everything but stupid. When you confronted him at the pool, he went after Lorane." Jon clenches his jaw, twisting his neck. "I had nothing against him; in fact, he helped me control that bitch Lorane. You have no idea how insatiable she is. As much as I like sex, I still don’t have the stamina to fuck her all the time."
My stomach churns, bile rising in my mouth, making me twist my face to avoid looking at Jon’s cold demeanor.
"He got in the way, I couldn’t let him interfere." He shows no remorse, not feeling guilty for leaving Bob between life and death in that hospital.
"Did your grandmother also get in your way, Jon?" The twitch at the corner of his mouth reveals his pretense when he smiles coldly. He stands up, swinging the gun between my head and my chest.
"Let’s not talk about her. Let’s say she needed to cool off." He shifts his weight, tapping his feet on the ground, looking at the door and then back at me. "Don’t you think it would be easier to leave you two, side by side, so the mess stays in one place?"
"What else did you do, Jon? What else was smart to do?" I look at him and raise my hand, trying to get his attention. "I need to know, Jon, I need to know..."
Jon laughs, swinging the gun and pointing it at me.
"You’re smart, Gim. Very smart. You think you’ll buy time by making me talk." He shrugs, looking at Baby and then at the door. "But we both know you won’t. You should have left." My fingers tighten, bringing them closer to my chest. I came back for him; I came back for the love I feel, and it will be with this love that he will kill me.
"I came back for you, Jon. I came back for the love I feel for you, and it will be with this love that you’ll kill me here, in this greenhouse?" I whisper through my tears.
Jon raises the gun, tapping the barrel slowly against his forehead, looking at me with the coldest mockery.

"No, Gim, I'm not going to kill you with your love. You'll die because you were too stupid! You saw only what you wanted to see. Your feelings blinded you." Jon stretches out his arm, lowering the gun to his side. "And that's why you’re going to die. For being foolish, for seeing only the good in people. No one has a good side, Ginger."
"Jon... Please." His face is inches from mine as he moves quickly.
"I’ll tell you what’s going to happen, Gim." The revolver sinks into my throat, his cold eyes staring at me. "Just out of consideration for old times." His face tilts to the side, pressing the revolver deeper into my skin. "I’m going to kill you. Lira will give you the same sliced-up ending she gave that old loudmouth of my grandmother."
"God! You killed her?!" His lips press together, nodding in affirmation.
"She wouldn’t let me think, she kept talking and talking, while Lorane was hysterical, sending me messages about Bob’s discovery." God, I’m petrified! Jon is a monster with no empathy or guilt. "That bitch Lorane couldn’t keep her mouth shut, and my grandmother wouldn’t stop, thinking everyone would find out I was planning to take my place in this mansion. I needed her to stay quiet, so I silenced her. And Lira went to clean up the mess while I went back to the mansion to calm Lorane and deal with the meddlesome Bob." He raises one of his hands, making a shoving gesture in the air. "I saw you with Uncle, you know? In the kitchen. I saw how he was deep inside you. I even got hard."
I am left speechless. The semen stain on the mattress was Jon’s own. The wardrobe was pushed away from the wall because he went to his room to masturbate. Lira took the sheets away so no one would see.
"You were together... All this time you were in this together..." He blinks, smiling at me, pushing a strand of my hair back.
"Smart girl..." His index finger presses into my forehead, smiling with mockery.
"Lira, she is..."
"My second cousin. She and my mother were raised together. The difference is that my junkie mother died, but Lira knows how to use a knife like no one else. I was nine when I first had contact with Lira, always through video calls when I was at my grandmother’s house. That was good because no one knew about our relation. She had never been to the island before coming to work for the Roy family, a perfect trump card. It was easy to manipulate Lorane into hiring her to work in this mansion."
It’s monstrous! Aunt Charlote had her reasons not to trust that woman, just like I did. My mind goes back to that day and I remember her coming into the room to deliver a tray with the meal Jonathan ordered. Baby was right; I had been drugged.
