Ginger Fox Part 4
"And then, our dear Lorane fell head over heels when she met James. She was obsessed with him."
Everything goes silent in my mind; I can only hear the sound of my erratic breathing. It’s as if I’m watching a screen inside me, piecing together the puzzle. Lorane’s jealousy isn’t about Jon or Jonathan—it’s about James. I’m already running, flying like a bolt of lightning towards the stairs. I can feel the sweat sticking to my forehead. In my mind, I see the easy laughter, the thin nose, the eyes that light up when happy—it’s all coming together now. The truth was right in front of me the whole time. My heart pounds irregularly as I race down the hallway. I throw open the door without knocking or waiting for an invitation to enter. His gaze lifts to meet mine, and his face brightens. His white, sharp teeth become more prominent as his smile widens.
"I was just about to come find you." I close the door behind me, staring at the floor, unable to meet his eyes. "What’s wrong? You’re pale. Did something happen?"
I close my eyes, banging my head against the door, feeling the urge to scream.
"I don’t know, James. You tell me." The sound of the hairbrush in his hand hitting the floor echoes loudly.
I wipe my tears away and look in his direction.
"Gim..."
"Why did you lie to me, Baby? Why didn’t you tell me that you and James are the same person?"
