Ginger Fox Part 2
"God! Where have you been all day?" Baby is agitated, stomping her foot on my bedroom floor as I come out of the bathroom in my pajamas.
Jon was so exhausted from our day that he just took a shower and stayed up only to eat the snack Lira brought him. It wasn’t even eight o'clock when he collapsed into bed, falling into a deep sleep.
"Jon and I were out. Why?" I yawn, pretending to be extremely tired as I rub my face. She looks at my pajamas and then at me, pressing her lips together.
"Was it on purpose?"
"What?" I walk past her, pretending not to understand, and head for the bed, lying down comfortably and wrapping myself in the blanket. "I’m exhausted! I think I’m just going to sleep..."
She crosses her arms, looking around. I close my eyes, sighing softly and praying she’ll leave the room so I can stick to my lie.
"You might be dying in that bed, but you still have only two options, Ginger." I open one eye, seeing her smirking.
"No!" I turn my body, covering my head and squeezing my eyes shut. "My option is to stay cozy in my bed. No more adventures!"
"Don’t kid yourself, Ginger." I hear her shoes clicking on the floor as she walks around. "I’ll tell you what your options are, and you’ll choose."
I keep the blanket over my head. I’m not getting out of this bed for anything. My share of adventures has already caused me enough trouble, and even though I’m curious about what the next game level will be, I’ll keep my nosiness in check and not let her win!
"Or you come with me to my room, where your clothes are waiting." I shake my head, not moving from the bed. I rub my face into the pillow, sighing lazily, but stop when I feel Baby’s breath hovering over my head. "Or Jonathan will come and drag you by your hair..."
My eyes snap open immediately, shivers running down my spine, making the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I uncover my head, caught by Baby’s devilish eyes. Her smile widens, making it clear that she’s not joking. I can imagine that man coming through the door like a caveman, beating his own chest.
"Roy isn’t at the mansion. When I parked the car in the garage, I didn’t see his. I’ll be in the land of dreams until he gets back," I whisper to her.
"Jonathan had things to take care of, so he left early. But I think he’d be here in less than five minutes..."
"You’re the worst friend ever," I growl at her through gritted teeth. Baby pulls the blanket away, tossing it aside and looking at me, laughing.
"No. I’m the best sister ever! Now come on, bunny, we need to get you ready for the hunt!"
My body shakes from head to toe with all the possibilities that Jonathan might actually take this literally.
"Damn curiosity!"
