Book 1: Chapter 87

I kept Nate in the room with Charles and Aelia. Posting Meredith at the entrance of the hallway, I asked Shep, Ken, Lex and Wyatt to come to the pack house. Shep was sitting with me in the kitchen along with Ken. Lex was sitting on the stairs and Wyatt leaned against the back door.

“So remind me again, what’s going on?”

Chuckling, I looked at Ken. “We are about to have two murderous Beta werewolf rogues on our hands. One of which is pregnant.”

“And these rogues are trying to murder their own Alpha?”

I nodded. “Because she continuously puts her life in more danger than she needs to.”

“Does she know they are coming for her?”

Shaking my head, I sighed. “I was hoping to get them to calm down before they make it in the room.”

“But if you can’t…that’s why we are here?”

Again, I nodded. “Nate is with Solaris and Charles in the room. We need to stop them long enough for both of them calm down or we just need to stop them”

“But we can’t hurt them?”

“Preferably. I don’t want them hurt. Especially Finn. It’s his first child with Noah and I’m not about hurt a pregnant wolf. I’m more worried about his blood pressure and him going into premature labor at this point. Which is why I asked Shep here.”

He nodded sighed. “It’s a serious problem considering he’s already halfway through the pregnancy. He doesn’t need this kind of stress.”

I chuckled. “Tell that to Solaris, not to me. I’m well aware of how stupid and reckless she was. I’m not about to murder her though.”

Suddenly, I felt two rogues cross into the territory. The speed they were going made me think they were shifted.

“Doc, can Finn shift this late in the pregnancy?”

He shook his head. “He physically can’t. His body won’t allow it until the baby is born. That locks down at around ten weeks.”

I cursed. “They are coming boys. Fucking flying down the road.”

Standing up, the guys did too and Meredith stood up from her lean. Another five minutes and I hear wheels screeching down the road.

“Holy moon goddess, you weren’t fucking kidding.” Ken looked out the window.

As soon as he said it, the door flew off the hinges and slammed into the stairs right were Lex had been sitting. Finn stepped in first. His eyes were completely black, his wolf had taken over completely. I put my hands up.

“Finn, calm down. Take a breath.”

“Where is she Alpha? Where the fuck is Sol?” His voice sounded so off as he was trying to shift into his wolf.

It made me realize just how much these boys were actually rogues. Their wolves were rogues as much as they acted normal, they were still rogues. The boys noticed it too as they shifted into more defensive stances.

“Finn, you need to calm down. It’s not good for the baby, not good for you, and it won’t be good for Sol.”

“Sol is going to be dead! She does this to us! Every time!”

I walked towards him, my hands still up. “I know. I know she does. She does this to every person she loves. It hurts. It hurts seeing her like this. It hurts watching her get closer and closer to death every day. You guys have to see if first hand. Wake up with the knowledge that she might not be alive next to you. That hurts and it’s painful and I honestly wish I could make it better. You know I do.” Tears filled my eyes. “I just got my sister back but now I’m losing her again. This time I have to watch her slip away and it’s breaking me a part so I can’t imagine what it feels like for you.”

Tears filled his eyes and his fists started to losen. “She hurts us when she does this. We only want to keep her safe. We only want to keep her with us as long as we can.” Finn placed his hand on his now very prominent belly.

“I know. It’s all I want as well. But you know how she loves. She loves wholly and completely. She will throw her life to the wind in the face of seeing her friends hurt. That’s what happened. Two of her friends nearly died, and all she could think to do was try and protect them. She shouldn’t, you and I both know she shouldn’t, but she does. Her love is too deep.”

His shoulders sagged and I reached out, pulling Finn my arms. He shook and finally his hands came up and held me.

“If something had happened to her on the way…or anything…” Finn’s voice was completely back to normal but it was broken.

“I know. I know. Today is full of miracles that we can’t take for granted right now.”

Noah walked in the door. “I’d like to know what the hell is going on here. I nearly died with Finn driving.”

I leaned back. “You didn’t tell Noah?”

He let go and stepped back, his blue eyes looking back at me. “No, I…I couldn’t think straight. It all just went out the window when I got to the car.”

I looked at Lex and Ken. *‘Get in position. I want you to be ready to grab his arms.’*

They nodded and slowly walked to either side of him.

“Why the hell is Sol’s bike laid out next to your fucked up truck?”

Pulling Finn behind me, Wyatt came close to Finn, ready to protect him and me.

“So we ran into an issue this morning. Sam marked Charles and so we just barely made it here in time. Charles was already headed into the worst of it and it was getting bad. We administered the medicine but it still took an hour. He’s okay and so is Sam. Considering the two of them were so fucking stupid and ignorant.”

Noah nodded. “Okay. I heard that bit over the phone. Both of them need a stern talking to.”

“Trust me. They’ve had one. There will be more.”

He relaxed a little but it just put me more on edge.

“So…why was Finn flipping out?”

“Solaris found out about Charles and Sam.”

Noah chuckled for a moment. “She must have been so pissed. That’s such a sore subject for her.” He paused for a second and looked back at the bike in the grass.

Motioning to the boys, they stepped a little closer and Wyatt pulled Finn back with him.

“Wait…if her bike is here…” He turned back to me and I could see his eyes start to put the pieces together. “Tell me she isn’t here, Alpha. Tell me she isn’t in this fucking house right now.”

I swallowed. “She rode up here and ripped Sam a new one. She’s taking care of Charles now.”

His eyes went black and he roared. The boys jumped, grabbing both his arms before he raged forward. Suddenly, I saw why Finn was the one carrying their child. Noah must have some original lycan blood in his line. His body shifted, it getting larger and taking on a larger form. It wasn’t a wolf but something different; something monstrous.

“Noah, calm down. She’s okay. There is nothing wrong, alright? She’s in bed, resting.” I tried to reason with him.

He roared again and Finn grabbed my shoulder, pulling me back. “Alpha, he’s not there. Noah is gone. We need...”

“The hell is going on here?”

Aelia was walking out, using Nate to help her walk. Her eyes took in the scene before her. Noah roared again, seeing her. He threw off Lex but Ken managed to hold on but the lycan version of Noah started to move forward.

“Stop.”

Everyone froze and I could barely move under her command. Looking at her, her hair was whipping around in an invisible wind, her clothes also shifted with the hurricane-like force. She stepped forward, her eyes blazing a bright gold color. I tried to reach out to her but her command was too strong and I couldn’t even move. Walking up to Noah, she placed her hand up on his head.

“Shift.”

We watched as the lycan slowly shifted back down into Noah’s form, his clothes stretched and ripped, hang off him.

“Sol, let the power go. Let it go now!” Finn screamed.

She turned to him and nodded. Backing up, I felt the ability to move again and I quickly reached out to her. Pulling her to me, most of her weight fell and I held her up, my arms wrapping around her stomach.

Finn was crying as Wyatt still held him back. “You fucking idiot! You got so mad you made her use her powers again! You’re such a fucking idiot, Noah! You promised! You promised you wouldn’t lost control again!”

“I’m the idiot?! She rode her motorcycle in her fucking condition. She could barely sit up in bed this morning! And today was a good day!” Noah turned on Aelia. “You! You just can’t fucking give us any fucking peace of mind! We were supposed to be working on setting up a crib. Picking out where we wanted to set everything up! You just don’t give shit about anyone!” Noah yelled at her.

“You know that’s not fucking true! I made it here! In one piece I might add. I’m still alive!”

Noah yelled at her. “I’m tired of this Sol! I’m tried of you just fucking with us and fucking with our life!”

I felt Aelia shrink into my body. “Noah…”

“No! I’m done! I’m fed up! I’m fed up waking up in the middle of the night and placing my hand on your chest to check if you’re still breathing! I’m tried of literally jumping every time my phone beeps worried that it’s your heart rate monitor! I’m tired of it when you don’t give a fucking shit! You pull this shit after all we go through for you!”

Noah stomped out of the house but he didn’t go to the car. We all watched as he grabbed my truck door that was on the ground. He picked up and brought down the bottom edge of it directly on Aelia’s motorcycle.

Aelia screamed and tried to wriggle out of my arms but I held her tight. Her struggle stopped after the fifth time he brought it down. She was sobbing, her strangled cries brought tears to my eyes as we watched Noah decimate her pride and joy. Finally, when the bike was in more pieces than it was whole, Noah tossed the door away. He was heaving, anger still radiating off him.

“Finn, come on. We are going home.”

Finn looked worriedly around. “But Sol…”

“She doesn’t have a fucking home! We are going. NOW FINN!” Noah yelled as he headed back to the car.

We all winced when he slammed the door shut. Finn started to head out the door but I caught him with one hand, my arm holding up the limp Aelia.

“You going to be okay?”

Finn looked down at the broken Aelia. “I…I don’t know…but Noah would never hurt me. I’ll text if I can. Maybe send Sam down and I can sneak some of her clothes out?”

I nodded and let him go. He left the house and jogged to the car. The door shut and Noah pulled out of the pack house. His car disappeared down the road, leaving all of us dumbfounded at what just happened.

“Sil…Sil…I…”

Reaching down, I picked up Aelia and she grabbed my shirt, clutching it as she sobbed into my chest. Moving the door over, I walked up the stairs, carrying her. I knew Nate would follow.

I mind linked Meredith first. *‘Mer, if you would sit with Charles for a little.’*

*‘Yes Alpha.’*

I linked the guys next. ‘*If you guys don’t mind cleaning up a little. Try to see if you can’t get a repairman out to get a new door.’*

*‘Yes, Alpha.’* Resounded in my head.

*‘Shep, I think the show is over. Thank you for your help today.’*

He sighed.* ‘Do you want me to check her out?’*

*‘No. At this point, it doesn’t really matter with how far-gone she is.’*

*‘Alright, Alpha.’*

I opened up the door to my room and placed Solaris on the bed. She was shaking and I could see her forehead drenched in sweat. There was also blood coming out of her nose, ears and her lips were coated in it.

“Nate, can you grab a wet washcloth. A couple actually, I think she had a fever.”

He disappeared into my bathroom and I pushed her further into the middle of the bed. I pulled up a blanket and covered her up to her waist. Nate came out and he placed the washcloth on her forehead. I took the others and started to clean the blood off of her. Running my hands through my hair, I sighed.

“This might actually kill her.”

Nate’s eyes widened. “What? The power?”

“The power use definitely didn’t help but what Noah said to her and watching her bike being destroyed…I think that might put her over the edge.”

He sighed. “What do we do?”

I shrugged. Looking at my little sister in my bed, she looked so small. Smiling sadly, I let the tears fall. It was never supposed to to be like this. It was always supposed to be the three of us, together again. Slowly, I climbed into the bed and laid on my side facing her. Nate did the same and I couldn’t help but smile. As kids we used to always sleep together. We all had separate rooms but no one used any of the beds save for mine. Though, Nate was always the one in the middle. Aelia and I smooshing him between us.

I put my hand on her chest, feeling it rise and fall slowly. Nate’s hand covered mine and I looked over at him. He gave me a sad smile before fully laying in the pillow and closing his eyes. Laying my head on the pillow as well, sleep took me away.
