“Why?”

“I will show you when we get there ” He led her to the car, opened the car door and drove her to the hospital.

“Alexa!” She ran immediately to her bedside. Her heart stopped looking at the disheartened state her friend was. She looked at Ray.

“What happened to my friend? Why is she in the hospital?” Valerie did not want to care whether she was rude or not, she needed to avenge her bestie.

“Miss Davies, please calm down ” Gabriel held her back by her waist when she aimed to attack his boss.

“How can I when Alexa is half dead!”

“Take care of her. Ray coldly said and left the room along with Gabriel. “ Get me all the details and the last person she encountered before the incident, I want all of them! Anyone who dared hurt my lady would see the wrath of me!”

Next morning.
In her trance.
“Where am I?” Alexa asked as her whole surroundings were coloured white. She looked down and she saw that she also wore white. “Who is there? Anyone?”
She moved forward and hoped that this madness would end. She then stopped when she got to a dead end.

“Alexa ”

“Mom? I thought you were dead? It is not possible, you are dead. I saw you die!”
She sobbed on her mother's sleeves. She knew that her brain was messing with her and took her to the past but it felt so real.

“My little girl is all grown up. ” Her last voice echoed as she disappeared

“Where did you go? Mom!” Alexa yelled when she did not see anyone but her old house where she celebrated her last seventeenth birthday.
She walked in through the back door and to her surprise, she saw herself when she was seventeen along with her mother.
Alexa rocked herself and breathed out. The memory was so fresh that it did not look like it was in the past. She hid behind the fridge when Meiji opened the fridge to get her cake.

“Happy birthday my little Alexa.” She pinched her cheeks and kissed her.

“Mom, I am already a big girl! You have to stop treating me like a child ”

“I have a gift for you. Let me go get it ”

“Hmm ” Her past self smiled and watched her mother leave the room. Alexa sat on the floor and held her brain.
A storm of headache flew through her brain nerves. She cried out silently and watched her memories fade away. Back she was in a blank environment with a little boy squatted on the floor.

“Who are you?” She said but the boy could not hear her since they were not in the same dimension.
The boy looked in her direction and spoke up. She was shocked at his look but unfortunately, it was not for her. A little girl appeared in front of him wearing her favorite pink floral gown. She looked closely and found out that she was the one but way younger than now.

“Why are you crying?” The boy asked

“My father does not want to come for my school play. He does not want me.” The little girl sobbed harder. Her eyes bulged out with tears.

“Why does he not want to come?”
Alexa sobbed little as she saw the sad face of the girl. It reminded her of the day she was asked to represent her school for a school play. She was the female lead but her dad never cared. He was never at home.
He was either busy or on a business trip. She felt lonely.

“Do you want to be my father?” The little sad girl said.
The boy patted her shoulders and hugged her. Removing from his pocket, he brought out a bear.

“My parents never have time for me either. That is why I am here. Take this ” He handed it over to her and covered her dangling hair.

“What is this?”
“What is this?”

“This is my friend I talk to when I am angry, sad or upset. I am giving it to you, take good care of it. ” Alexa smiled and wiped her tears off. Her cheeks were red from the crying and her eyes were all teary.
Soon the whole image disappeared, she was slowly coming back to reality. Her eyes opened up and she scanned her surroundings.
It was neither blank nor white except from the ceiling. Her body felt so numb and she heard little voices. She raised her head up.

“Where am I?” She murmured as she felt a man's head on her stomach. His breathing was steady as the wind. She looked down on him and smiled.
Ray rested on her lap with his hands supporting her back. She blushed and slowly removed his hands from her back.

“He must have felt numb. ” Alexa ran her fingers through his silk hair. “So cute”
The man here on her lap sleeping peacefully did not look like the cold and brutal man everyone feared rather a cute tired baby.
She tried to move but noticed she was on the machines. She coughed a little to get his attention.

"Alexa?” His eyes burst open and stared at her. His gaze made her look suspicious like he had seen a ghost. “Are you okay?”
He helped her sit up and dialed the doctor's number. For the past seven days, Alexa never moved, spoke or had a heartbeat. She was rigid and almost taking to be buried.

“Water ” He opened up a bottle of water and gave it to her. The doctor came in with the records and freaked out.

“You woke up?” Most people in traces are stuck there for life. Carrying out many tests on her brain and organs, they seemed to be in an eternal sleep.

“Alexa!” Valerie screamed and hugged her. She already lost hope on Alexa seeing that even the most specialized neurologist could not wake her up.
Alexa managed to smile. She did not know that she had put most of these people in sleepless days all waiting for her to wake up.
She reached for her neck and when she did not find what she was looking for, she stopped.

“My necklace? Where is it?”

“What are you looking for?” Ray prevented her from getting up from the bed.

“I need to get my necklace ” She repeated and held his hands. She could not misplace the only item her mother left for her before dying. It would not be good!

“Isn't it not a necklace? I will buy it for you. You need rest!”
He struggled with her. He could not just let her run off when she just regained herself. What is so important about that necklace? It is just a silver chain, it should not be that expensive!

“Just a necklace?! That is the last item my mother left for me.......why explain? You won't understand! You have never experienced what it is like to lose someone you love!”
Ray laughed skeptically at her words. Was she indirectly saying he never cared about her?

“Yes I won't understand anything about you! I won't because I have not lost anyone I love!” He angrily said and turned to Gabriel.

“Get the car ready. Some people in this world are just so ungrateful!” Ray left the room with rage.
For the past seven days, he did not leave the room for one thing or the other. He bathed her, fed her and took care of her and she dared to insult him.

“Yes boss ” Gabriel left as well leaving the two friends in the room.

“Why is he so cocky? Wasn't what I said right?” She discarded the tubes and wore fluffy slippers near her bed. Valerie held her arms to stop her.

“Alexa, you are so stone hearted! Ray spent his whole week staying with you and even I as your best friend could not!” Valerie tucked her back into the bed. “Stay, I will go look for it.”
