Conclusion
*Chapter 24*
"Are you out of your mind, Heimon?" I asked in disbelief while laughing, couldn't believe how absurd his statement was. "That's a good joke, Heimon."
Heimon looked at me, worried. "Luna... I am telling the truth."
I laughed one more time before I changed my expression into an earnest one. "No, I don't have plans to take any of you. All I want is to live alone... I need to be far away from all the people that became related to where I was once before," I said coldly.
He looked like he wanted to protest but he didn't say anything for a moment before Heimon bowed before me. "As you wish, Luna."
I heaved out a sigh and smiled at them, looking at their dejected expressions. It really looked like they really wanted to come with me. "Do not feel so melancholy. I am very sure your next Luna will surpass all the duties that I have achieved here now." I shrugged.
They didn't say anything. I think that I made them upset, which was my plan anyway.
My plan for the three years of being married to Reginald was to create a chaotic symbolization here in this pack. Maltreating... That was the only way I could think of so they could have their hatred of me as the villainess of this pack which Reginald couldn't even know how to control me even if he was the Alpha of this pack.
He thought that I grew up in a good household and was just a good housewife, following her husband around whatever he wished.
They thought Novalie Argerich was just a pawn to be played and discarded. I really love when people underestimate me before I show them my true colors. They thought that I was just a prim and proper lady who only minded about cosmetics and the latest fashion gown outfits.
They didn't even know that I was a gifted child back then who happened to learn swordsmanship and mastered it by the age of four. Alpha Denzil praised me so well which was why I earned respect from him.
However, Father never recognized me as a child prodigy. That lost my hope that I only need to stay quiet as much as possible and not to show the things that I was capable of.
All his orders, I followed him. When I was betrothed to one of the princes from the royal lycan family, I didn't say anything and did as he said. But on the second attempt that I was betrothed to Reginald, I tried to stand up for myself but Father told me I had no choice to make.
That was the time I felt the cup was already full. I realized that was already enough for me to handle all the situations he kept messing with me.
I started ruining my image despite being from the House of Argerich and House of Westervelt.
I learned to stand up and needed to ruin what I have even though it would ruin my image. It was worth it that my fellow nobles were distancing themselves. I didn't need to act, I needed to greet them and share with sweet nothing but we were just feeding each other some lies.
"Past is past, Novalie..." I murmured before I decided to stand up. "We must go now," I announced.
Using Nightsky, I didn't intend to use my wolf form to go near to the warehouse which was located near to the cabin. Heimon and the other male servants came along with me using their wolf forms.
We arrived at the cabin creating a slight commotion. From afar, I came to see Frederick who was being surrounded by his fellow male slaves. I frowned when I saw the situation when I saw that some of them were laying on the ground.
I growled realizing that he oppressed my male slaves that I didn't allow him to do.
Our eyes met. He smiled innocently at me and waved his hand like he was a crowning prince from this kingdom.
I averted my gaze and ignored his stares that feeling me tickled. I brought Nightsky to the warehouse. I bestowed the reins to one of my servants to take care of Nightsky for me.
"Greetings, my goddess."
I looked up seeing ten of my male slaves were here in the warehouse. "Hello, boys. I believe it is time for all of you to decide what fate you want to have," I announced.
They creased their foreheads, exchanging glances. I rolled my eyes and mind linked Heimon to explain the things they needed to know.
Heimon stepped forward and cleared his throat to grab their attention. "Every quarter, Luna Novalie makes a quick deliberation choosing ten slaves to choose which path they want to have," he started. "You will choose either you want to be promoted to become Luna's servant and get paid for working under her or you will have your freedom and you will be given enough allowance."
I was granted a seat before I reclined to it watching their reactions.
"Decide for your fate," I added.
Making a deliberation to remove them from being my male slave has an advantage for me. I was doing this if I found that some of them haven't contributed more pleasure to me, meaning that they no longer made me happy at all.
"Who is in favor of working under Luna Novalie?" Only one raised their hands. "Then the rest want to leave," Heimon concluded before he turned to me. "Luna, they already have decided."
I nodded and looked at them earnestly. "Your decision shall not make you regret. Because once I declare it, you have no chance to revoke your decision back. Are we clear?"
"Yes, my goddess."
"Good." I unfolded my fan and looked at them. "Those who will leave now from my domain shall be granted with five gold coins. That man who wanted to become my servant will have a salary of twenty gold coins every month." I stood up when I saw that their eyes widened.
"My goddess! My goddess! Please I change our mind!"
"I-I want to be your servant, my goddess!".
"Allow me to stay here, please!"
"My goddess! I want to be your servant!"
They were about to rush to me upon hearing the salary a servant would have, when the other servants tackled them down for almost hurting me. I remained on my ground not moving an inch until they almost touched me.
"I have already said that there is no revoking of decisions once you decide what fate you want but you ignore my warning." I shrugged my shoulders, turning my back.
I left the warehouse hearing them begging at me to bestow them a chance to revoke their decision. I didn't listen to their pleas.
Now, I need to go back again to the Maiden's Lair to purchase new male slaves again.
Riding at Nightsky, I went to the top of the hills to contemplate and rethink my plans to divorce the marriage. As much as I wanted to be the one who must propose it, Father was behind me. Father was preventing me from even making a decision of divorcing that bastard for some reason.
If they thought that I wouldn't be able to get away and give up on it.
I accidentally found out the reason why Reginald didn't want to even take it to the court.
The parchment I saw hid in the piled up paperwork at Reginald's desk was actually... last and will testament made by Father.
"Do you think I wouldn't find out, Reginald? Well done at hiding it, huh... Stupid man... He doesn't even know where to hide it well—" I paused at the situation and gasped upon realization. "It can't be..." My heart started to race rapidly as if it wanted to come out from my ribcage.
I quickly transformed into my wolf form and mind linked Heimon to take Nightsky back to the stable in a hasty manner as I used my powerful paws to sprint back to the manor.
Otieza Law LLC... Father's last and will testament...
I knew something was not right. The negotiation between my father and my scoundrel husband was something making me shudder in fear. Then there was this secret telegram that it had to be delivered to the Folkstone City discreetly... is something that raised my suspicion.
I returned to the manor with people shrieked in surprise because they saw me in my wolf form.
"Luna..." Philea greeted me when I went inside to the mansion.
*'Get out of the way!'* I barked a warning at her after thinking about linking her.
She gasped and made her way for me to the study room of Reginald. I transformed back to my human form and saw the watchers settled the documents that they thought were suspicious for them.
I went to the coffee table and started skimming the pages.
"Luna, we also found this certificate when we happened to open the safety vault."
I took it and saw a purchase certificate that was about... I gasped. "Reginald is purchasing contraband..." I stated. Just as I go to the Maiden's Lair to purchase some male slaves. I read the contents of it and saw that my suspicion was right after all. "Ha..." I smirked. "I knew it..." I clenched my hands.
Now that my conclusion was right.
Then, I must get away from this marriage after all...
"Return all the things back to their normal state. We cannot let that asshole find out that we went here!" I ordered angrily.
"Yes, my siren."
I left after I checked all the documents there. I made sure I didn't leave any detail there and memorized everything I read. I even read them twice so that I couldn't miss any information.
I was certain now that I really needed to get away from here.
I went to my study room to check Reginald's ledger. All of his transactions that happened inside and outside must be monitored and be checked. It is important that the wealth of a household must be monitored and they must have a ledger for that.
Since I wasn't the one who was monitoring it but Reginald only, I shouldn't be surprised if he had another ledger he hid somewhere. Perhaps, he was keeping it in his chamber, which I only went there if Reginald wanted me to fulfill my duty as his wife.
I spent my whole day checking it and trying to decipher Reginald's ledger and copied the amounts that I thought were suspicious enough. I knew I shouldn't be supposed to do this but I just needed to gather some evidence that I need in case I need to get away from here.
I must waste no time already.
Before Reginald comes back, I must set everything already.
I needed to get away from the Sowinski Kingdom and flee to the Estasia Eglaria Kingdom. I would stay abroad where my father couldn't reach me after I would use him for my own affair.
I didn't know how long I spent my time here in my study room but I knew my head butler was already worried that I hadn't eaten my afternoon and evening meals.
"I will eat later," I said coldly even though my stomach was already rumbling and my hand was already aching, copying each number appearing in the ledger. I just needed some copy so I could monitor his events in the past few months.
Since I didn't care about Reginald's welfare before, I never got to know what his business he was doing after his Alpha duties.
I was already thinking something that would trigger Reginald aside from slaughtering the House of Westervelt. It was not an effective strategy when I realized that because Reginald was continuing to prolong his agony because of that document I saw in his desk.
I needed to trigger him more to cause him to hurt me... to the point I am on the brink of my death.
I sniffed and halted when I came to smell the familiar spicy, musky scent of someone I knew. I looked at the door that just opened.
I frowned upon knowing who that person was. "Who told you to be summoned here?" I asked in a frigid tone.
He smiled and bowed his head while he was bringing a tray of food. "I, Frederick, greet my goddess for this evening," he greeted before he entered my study room.
"I didn't order to summon you here, Frederick. Get out!" I said in my gritted teeth.
He placed the tray on the coffee table and approached me. He placed his hands on my desk and leaned forward so our faces would be even.
"I was summoned by Sir Heimon, my goddess. They are worried about your welfare." He looked at the wall clock. I even followed his gaze and saw the time. I gasped seeing that it was already midnight. "You haven't eaten yet, Sir Heimon said. He asked me to come here to see if I can compel my goddess to eat since he could tell that I am your favorite slave." His smile grew wider from the statement he said.
I snorted. "Favorite slave? I do not have favorites amongst my slaves." Liar, Novalie. You just admitted that Frederick was your favorite now.
"Is it, my goddess?" He straightened his back and spun around to approach me.
I stood up and distanced myself away from him. "Get out," I ordered and pointed to the door. But Frederick didn't move an inch. He was smiling annoyingly that made my blood boil.
This man...
He was becoming a brat.
With the way he was looking at me, I could tell that he was telling me that I should make him get out of my study room.
Ah. I really hate when my slave was becoming a brat like this. It easily triggered my anger.
"I do not have time to play with you, Frederick. Get out." I sighed in exasperation as I opened the door, gesturing my hand to make him leave.
Frederick stroked his chin and tilted his head a little. "And if I do not want to go out, will my goddess pay more attention to me? I really hate when I become a good boy to you then you will not notice me later. You will completely ignore me," he retorted back.
I secretly gnashed my teeth in annoyance. This man... This man really was testing my patience.
He really was doing it on purpose.
I closed the door and returned to my seat. I ignored him just as he didn't like being treated like that. In my peripheral vision, Frederick frowned while I was getting myself busy.
"My goddess..."
I inhaled a sharp breath when I felt his lips on my ear before I heaved out a sigh, completely ignoring this man. I couldn't just let this man keep on being a brat right now. I could bestow some punishments but now was not the right time to do that.
"Not now, Frederick. I am not in the mood to pay attention to any of my slaves," I said coldly, ignoring him.
"At least, eat some food!"
I halted when his voice raised. I returned my quill pen to its holder before I turned my head to look at him. "Did you raise your voice on me?" I asked dangerously.
Frederick blinked, feigning ignorance. I could see the small smile creeping to his lips when he knew that grabbed my attention. That made me annoyed somehow because he was in a victory that I paid my attention to him.
"What do you really want?" I asked in annoyance. I was getting impatient right now because of what I found out today and I need things to get done already.
But this man was trying to prolong my work so I need to get down to business already.
Frederick took my hand and planted a sensual kiss on the back of my palm while looking at me with those seductive green eyes. "If my goddess will eat her meal, I promise to behave tonight."
I arched my eyebrow. "You do not know when to behave," I retorted.
"Just for tonight, my goddess." He placed my hand to his cheek and knelt on one knee. "I will behave... just for tonight only," he said meaningfully. Then he smiled seductively which I almost got swooned by.
