Turning Tables

*Chapter 83*

"Marquis Argerich, this hidden compartment you said earlier, can you tell us what compartment is that and describe it for us?" Dylan asked as the recess was over and the trial was on right now.

But before the trial proceeded and commenced again, there were rumors because I was wearing the same attire but lavish and striking clothing. I heard different kinds of murmurs that I was disrespecting the royal lycan family and the court for wearing a gallant bright red color.

I knew that there was no royal law that they imposed not to wear such a dashing color. I memorized the royal ordinances so I knew there was no such thing that I was actually disrespecting them.

Reginald inhaled and exhaled before he answered. "There was this compartment she had in her study room. It was behind one of the paintings."

"My client's secret compartment was her chair, Marquis Argerich. We can even ask the carpenter who specially made that chair for her." That made Reginald's face had gone color from Dylan's statement.

After that, he summoned the carpenter I asked to make a special chair for me. I massaged the back of my head when he was being summoned and answered Dylan's question.

"Is it true that you tried to check all the corners of my client's study room before you suggested making her a secret compartment but it should be a chair?"

"Yes, that is correct. I made that compartment which one would not think that it is best to search it out just as Marchioness Argerich requested."

"Alright. I have no further questions, Your Honor," Dylan said and returned to his seat with me.

I glanced at Reginald's direction who looked furious when our eyes met. I showed a sympathy expression. 'I hope you are alright, dear husband.' I fluttered my eyes at him.

He glared at me. 'Shut up.'

'I am just concerned.' I smiled at him, wanting to let him know that he was slowly slipping from the grasps that he was lying at all. 'You are humiliating the royal lycan family. Didn't you know that?'

With my words and Reginald's short-tempered attitude, he slammed the table when Dylan was about to say something.

"Is there something wrong, Marquis Argerich?" Judge Escal asked, arching his eyebrow.

"It's..." he paused and looked my way while I remained with my eyes on the front. Judge Escal looked at me with a suspicious glance.

"Marchioness Argerich, I suggest refraining from linking Marquis Argerich to avoid any dispute that shall add to your case," he warned.

I stood up and gently bowed my head. "My apologies," I said before I returned to my seat. I accidently looked up to the gallery. I secretly clenched my hands upon seeing Prince Atticus wearing the same mask when I met him back in Argenta. My heart leaped when his eyes darted on me before I looked away.

I inhaled and exhaled, calming myself not to be distracted just because the fifth prince was here who was also a spectator. I should remain calm and focus... I must not let him ruin me if I kept noticing his eyes staring in my direction.

"Your Honor, we have another witness that this mendacious accusation to my client shall condemn false charge and fallacious."

"Objection! All the evidence provided to the court is verified and even investigated by our factfinder team, Your Honor."

"Oh, really? So, you are claiming they are true? What if I say to everyone that we have proof that the documents presented here to the court are fraudulent."

At Dylan's statement, the jury and the audiences who were here started to whisper to one another. I looked up seeing the royal lycan family who had a look of bewilderment. I remained my eyes to the table while I was listening to what he would say next after the judge was ordering the court to hush down.

"The documents I have here in my hands are the real documents," Dylan said. "These documents should provide proof that my client is innocent and there is someone here that is present at the court that should be deemed the real culprit for committing treason." He started presenting and distributing to the plaintiff's side a copy of evidence before he bestowed another one to the judge.

I glanced up and looked at Reginald whose eyes were widening in horror upon seeing the documents Dylan presented to the court. I clasped my hands together, remaining a stoic expression.

To the rest of this court trial, I could tell that the world would turn upside down.

Atty. Rios stood up and objected. "Your Honor, they are pinning Marchioness Argerich's crime to my client. This is defamation!" he said, raising his tone and glared at Dylan who had a calm demeanor right now.

Judge Escal summoned his hand to halt him before he skimmed through the documents. "This is a serious allegation that you are accusing Marquis Argerich that he is really the one committing treason, not Marchioness Argerich, Atty. Heide." He looked up at me. "I am accepting these documents as part of the evidence." He nodded.

That made me sigh in relief. I thought he would have a second thought there. It would be over if he did not accept them. I knew that as long as they were relevant to this case, Judge Escal should not let it go to waste.

'You bitch!'

I glanced at Reginald's direction hearing his mind link that was directed to me. Sighing, I drew out a small smile and winked at him. His hands clenched seeing how I reacted that he looked infuriating right now.

That was right, Reginald. Show your true colors.

The evidence I presented is much more detailed than the ones you provided. I should watch as you must fall to the depths of hell.

"Your Honor!" Atty. Rios stood up and walked to the judge's direction. "How can you easily accept that evidence? They are slandering my client! There is no good basis to even—"

"It wouldn't hurt a fly to even try to ask questions and confirm everything to Marquis Argerich, Your Honor," Dylan stated. "After all, the judge accepted it, Rios. Unless you are protecting the real culprit which might lead you in being executed for trying to deny more when we have strong evidence that Marquis Argerich is a defamation case."

I gently tapped my finger to the desk as I quietly watched them exchanging conversations. I could have wished I could join them but I must remain quiet and stay where I was. I wanted to see how everything would go on from now.

But I knew that this should turn the tables now. It was my turn now to be interrogated by the evidence presented.

"Let's continue the trial tomorrow at eight in the morning. Sharp," Judge Escal said as he hit his gavel to adjourn the meeting. "Review the new evidence presented."

Dylan approached me as I leaned to my seat, watching Reginald leaving the courtroom. I massaged the back of my neck after that.

"Everything will be alright, Beta. We will win this case."

I nodded my head while closing my eyes for a moment before I glanced at him. "I know... We are one step closer to exposing him. He better not show himself to Argerich mansion because I swear I am going to..." I paused, not wanting to voice out that I wanted to kill Reginald for doing this to him.

"Are you alright, Beta?" he asked.

I coerced a smile while caressing my temple and nodded. "I am just a little dizzy." I had been stressed out because of the accusation that happened.

I knew that Reginald already had these plans of pinning his crime on me ever since I found him suspicious from the time I noticed that he had been acting strange lately. That was last year. November.

That was the time he did not fulfill his duty of taking care to plan the food supply for his pack members. It was negligent of him to be careless.

Tomorrow, this evidence presented would make everything over.

As soon as everything was set on him, it was time for me to divorce my marriage with him. The moment I had been waiting for.

"I wish to go now," I said as I stood up, wanting to sleep.

Alucard's words filled my mind at that time. I was too nervous that everything would be over if I didn't make things right.

I met Father as soon as we got out of the court house. I couldn't help myself hugging my father as I wanted to gather strength for all the issues I had been dealing with today.

"You can divorce him and I will kill him with my own hands, my daughter," Father said as he caressed my back.

Clinging to the lapel of his suit, I nodded as I took a sigh. "Father... I do not want to get married again..." I said in a soft tone. He stiffened. He was silent before I decided to distance myself and looked at him. "Even if I find my mate, I am never going to enter into a marriage again. I am not going to marry assholes again," I stated before I turned my back to walk towards the carriage.

While sauntering the carriage, I looked up in the sky, thinking of finally running away from the Sowinski Kingdom.

Even so, there was one person that invaded my mind again. I couldn't help but to sigh.

"Frederick... I need you..."
