A Calm Vengeance

*Chapter 38*
"W-What did you say?" Did I hear it right?
Did I hear it *really* right?!
Heimon cried and knelt before me. "We... We couldn't stop Alpha Reginald, Luna... Forgive me... I was incompetent, Luna... Please—"
"Summon Timothy! Quickly!" I screamed so loud as I started to sprint, feeling my heart about to explode as I rushed towards the prison cell. "Hurry up, you slowpoke!" I barked before I transformed to my wolf form as I got frustrated with my dress being a hindrance.
Using my powerful paws, I hurried up and barked at the prison guards who dared to block me, showing my authority as the Luna of our pack. They shivered and made way for me. I immediately transformed back to my human form as soon I followed the scent of Frederick with the mix of rusty, metallic smell of fresh blood.
Then, my heart stopped as soon as I saw my immobile mate as my eyes widened in horror seeing that his body was covered with blood and his face was heavily injured.
"FREDERICK!" I yelped. My tone was laced with horror. I rushed to him as I was about to cry seeing his poor state. "Darling..." I carefully lifted his head to my arm, not minding that I would be covered with his blood. "Darling... Wake up, darling..." I cried as I wiped his face with my hand.
"My... My goddess..." I gasped in horror when he spoke but his eyes remained closed. "No... Novalie..." He slowly opened his eyes. His cracked lips stained with his crimson blood stretched out into a small smile as he tried to reach for my face but he failed. "I-I have done... your task," he said in his difficult tone, having a hard time breathing.
"Darling... Don't speak. Timothy is on his way..." I kissed his forehead. "You did well..." I whispered as tears won't stop falling from my eyes. He nodded and was forced to smile even though he was in pain. I caressed his cheek. "Allow me to take over this..." I said to him before he finally slept.
That moment, Timothy arrived with his fellow attendants. "Luna! We will bring him to the infirmary!"
I nodded my head as I watched them placing Frederick on the stretcher after Timothy checked him up. "Will... Will he be alright?" I asked, worried. I followed the unconscious Frederick when he was being taken away, following them.
"I am... not certain yet, Luna," Timothy replied as soon as we got to the infirmary. Then he faced me after placing Frederick in a tub with some dried herbs mixed in the water. "He needs a medical bath and takes an antidote, Luna. He is heavily injured from the lashes on his back and seems Alpha Reginald forced him to drink the wolfsbane. I saw his mouth burned inside and smelled the wolfsbane chemical." Timothy explained.
I gasped, horrified. "What the..." Frederick... My darling, Frederick...
"Luna!" Timothy caught me in his arms. I was surprised at his movement but then I realized that my knees wobbled as they couldn't support me from standing anymore.
Tears started to form in my eyes as I clutched his lab gown. "He... Tell me if he will be alright, Timothy... Tell me... I need to know..."
"Fret not, Luna. He will be fine. It is a good thing that he had managed to take the antidote with him before he was being whipped. His body wasn't in a dangerous condition," he explained as he helped me sit down. "He is smart."
I wiped my tears. "W-What?" I was bewildered. He took an antidote before Reginald punished him? Where on earth did he take the antidote?
Timothy looked surprised at my expression before he cleared his throat. "Judging by your state, Luna, it seems Sir Frederick stole a few antidote vials to the box you asked him to take them from me a few days ago."
That was when I realized after Timothy said that. "Damn it..." Frustrated, I almost slapped my cheek because of that. "Of course, that box..." I scoffed, finding this situation funny all of a sudden. "Those vials are supposed to be used for my playtime with him..." I uttered.
I was planning on going extreme on playing with Frederick. It was supposed to be lashed with wolfsbane. Then, after that play, I would make him take the antidote to heal the wounds I caused to his body.
Damn it, Frederick... That's a pretty smart move... I admitted.
I looked at Timothy. "His wounds aren't severe, right? Even his throat from forcibly taking the wolfsbane?" I asked, worried.
Timothy nodded. "Indeed, Luna. Taking the antidote before he was being punished nullified some of the effects of the lashes and even affected his throat and stomach."
"How long would be his recovery for this?" I decided to stand up after I was certain that my legs wouldn't give up on me again.
"Probably a week, Luna," he answered politely. "He needs to stay here so I can monitor him."
I sighed in relief. "That's a relief. If in case he can be discharged now and retire to a room, take him to my chamber. I will take care of him." I decided to leave the infirmary when I heard that Frederick was fine now.
"W-Where are you going, Luna?" Timothy asked nervously when he must have seen my dark expression.
I smiled sweetly at him. "Someone needs to pay heed to my last warning I uttered from the past. It seems like that scoundrel never listened," I said, lacing my voice with a sweet tone.
Timothy didn't say anything. He knew what should happen next now that he realized I was calmed now than before.
I returned to the manor only to be greeted by Heimon holding my rapier sword on the front porch. I took it from him and looked at him with a frozen gaze. "Where is he?" I asked frigidly.
Frightened, Heimon bowed his head. "Alpha Reginald is in the boot camp, Luna Novalie."
"Excellent." I giggled dangerously. "You know what you all should do," I said meaningfully.
Heimon nodded. "I have been assured that everyone in the manor has evacuated, Luna Novalie. They are staying at the packhouse temporarily," he said politely.
"Good." I cocked my head from side to side. "I shall summon you later to make me some tea," I said sweetly. He bowed his head as an agreement. "Scoot now," I said coldly before I looked up at the exterior design of the manor. "I still have something to do. I was thinking of redesigning the manor," I said meaningfully, giggling menacingly.
I saw him shivering at my words. "A-As you command, Luna."
I waited for him to be gone before I went to the gates facing the manor. "Well, then..." I paused as I oscillated my rapier sword carelessly. "Shall we begin the dance, Novalie?" I asked myself as I tore off my dress and cut it off in between my thighs, removing the petticoat.
In this way, I could walk around comfortably, not minding that I was disrespecting the proper etiquette that a woman should not reveal her legs to any man.
I started wreaking havoc in the front garden by destroying all the plants and flowers except my peonies with a sinister grin plastered on my lips. Then I destroyed the wooden railings in the front porch and even the wooden door that was made with the mahogany tree.
I left a mark of letter N to indicate that the culprit was obviously me. I wanted to enrage Reginald once he saw my *beautiful redecorated* manor.
I am looking forward to seeing his reaction.
I already heeded him a last warning from the past that if he ever touched one of my properties without my permission I would wreak havoc. He touched mine so I would do the same thing.
He killed one of my favorite slaves before by doing the same thing to Frederick. I calmly settled it by giving him a second and last warning.
However, it looked like he never wanted to listen to me and harmed my Frederick this time around.
I would never forgive Reginald for doing this to Frederick.
"Hmm... What must I destroy next?" I said, giggling after destroying and shattering the window glasses of the manor by piercing them with my rapier sword from outside.
I decided to go inside the manor by kicking the door as I stretched my arms. I came to spot Reginald's couch he bought from the Estasia Eglaria Kingdom the last time he went abroad last year.
Smothering a sinister grin again, I approached it and stabbed it using my sword before I immediately lacerated the foam of the couch. Then I went to approach the displayed paintings he bought from the Yuanzhong Kingdom and the Waevalon Kingdom. I didn't hesitate to put some holes in them as I laughed maniacally.
Then I started running through the hallways making some ramshackle wall designs as I giggled. I even shattered the valuable, expensive chandeliers, and couldn't care less if I bought them.
I finished doing redecoration after an hour with a satisfied smile on my lips. Panting heavily, I sat on the floor and laid down on the floor, looking at the broken chandeliers. I didn't mind how cold the floor was as I enjoyed laying down there.
I turned my head when I heard footsteps of Heimon who came from the kitchen after summoning him to tell him that I finished my business.
"I brewed you some tea, Luna."
"What tea?" I asked, feigning ignorance when I came to smell the good scent of black tea and bergamot extract.
"Earl Grey tea, Luna."
I scoffed. "You picked that because?" I glanced at him from above.
"Bergamot extract is also a good stress reliever, Luna."
"I am not stressed." I shrugged, chuckling before I decided to get up and went to take a seat on the destroyed couch. "I might as well finish my tea before Reginald comes back," I said, chuckling evilly.
I started sipping on my tea as I enjoyed the redecoration I did in this manor. I was certain Reginald would like it.
"Heimon, coat my sword with wolfsbane," I ordered when I heard from a distance Reginald's wrathful howl.
"Yes, Luna."
It didn't take long when I heard the ground shake from the outside. I even heard a loud bark causing Heimon to stiffen on his ground while I remained calm and composed, enjoying sipping my tea.
"NOVALIE!"
I was sipping on my tea when I heard heavy seething footsteps coming into the living area. Then I looked up to see the fuming mad expression from Reginald. And his nose was flaring... I almost laughed.
I placed the teacup in my saucer and smiled gently. "Oh..." I placed my thumb and forefinger to my chin acting like I was surprised to see him. "Oh, hi, dear husband. I see you have come home." I sweetened my voice as I handed out my hand to Heimon to bestow my rapier sword which he gladly obliged. "Did you like my redecoration?" I asked, fluttering my eyes.
Reginald clenched his hands. "You driggle-draggle witch..." He growled dangerously. "You destroyed my manor!" His voice was so loud before he punched the wall beside him.
I feigned ignorance as I tilted my head. "I redecorated it according to my will, dear husband. Don't you like the effort I put in?" I laced my voice like I was deeply hurt at his insulting words, trying to feel like I was going to cry.
His expression darkened. "You whore! Don't you know how much all of those rare items I bought from abroad and you destroyed them like they were nothing?!"
I sighed loudly. "I don't know how much they are." I decided to stand up. "But I do believe that I bestowed you a second and last warning not to touch my property," I uttered in a cold tone, changing my expression into a stoic one. "Right, Regy?" Then I quickly changed my expression into a sweet, angel-like one.
Reginald growled. "That slave of yours broke one of my properties, you slut! That property belongs to my ancestors!" His claws surfaced when he opened his palms. "I have no excuse to avoid you! I will end this once and for all! I am not going to forgive what you did to my manor, Novalie! You shall pay for this!"
I laughed dryly before I smirked. "I shall say the same thing, Reginald." I raised my sword, pointing in his direction. "I shall not pardon you for almost killing my darling." I tilted my head a little as a sinister smile resurfaced on my lips. "I hope you have contacted the funeral parlour for later because I shall behead your head." I giggled maniacally.
"Before that happens, I shall kill you first, Novalie," he said, smirking.
On cue, Reginald and I started to sprint so we could attack each other.
Clashing my sword to his claws, I promised myself that I would inflict the same pain he bestowed to my Frederick.
I am not going to tolerate Reginald ever again. If it comes to Frederick, I am ready to turn the world upside down to protect my darling.
I hope Reginald prepares to taste my wrath...
