A Brawl
*Chapter 39*
I oscillated my rapier sword towards Reginald who already transformed into his wolf form. He howled in pain when the blade touched his fur causing him to step back.
I giggled maniacally. "Come on, Reginald. Transform back to your human form. Fight me with the same sword," I said mockingly, giggling again. "Give me a good fight!"
Reginald's massive black wolf barked. 'Why don't you transform into your wolf form, you slut? Can't handle my strength?' he said mockingly through the mind link.
I scoffed as my upper lip curled up into a smirk. Reginald was trying to provoke me. He made me want to think that if I used my wolf form, he thought that I wouldn't be able to defeat him.
"My, my... Is that the best insult you can think of?" I posed in my fighting stance. "We know it better that albeit my wolf form is not as massive as yours, with my quick reflexes and agility, I can inflict pain on you." I fluttered my eyes. "Well, do you want me to remind you of the last brawl we did, Reginald? Didn't we use our wolf forms back then? Who won that fight? It's me, isn't it?"
I ran towards him and made a front flip. Reginald showed his claws and was about to scratch me when I managed to land on his head causing him to widen his eyes before I used my other leg to kick him away.
He rolled and destroyed one of the houses causing horror screams from the ones living in it. I looked at those people who were still there.
"Do you all wish to die? Why are you not all still evacuating? Can't you all see that we are going to kill each other?!" I asked in an annoyed tone seeing their horrified expressions when Reginald stood up. I glanced at them one more time. "Leave!" I ordered, growling at them.
"Y-Yes, Luna!"
'So, you are acting like an Alpha now?!'
I cocked my head from side to side as I smirked. "Why not? Didn't I become an Alpha already since I defeated you so many times? And you... You are just acting as an Alpha on my behalf. Be grateful to me because I haven't executed or taken that Alpha position to you," I said arrogantly.
With what I said, Reginald attacked me. He must have felt insulted at my words.
It must be true. I have won our fight so many times. I have challenged the Alpha and won. So, supposed to be the one who won would be the next Alpha of the pack.
However, here in the Sowinski Kingdom, they never acknowledged a woman becoming a female Alpha. Or even entering the military or becoming a knight.
Unlike in the Waevalon Kingdom where the people there acknowledged the first female who managed to enter the military who managed to climb up to the higher-ups, having a General title as she was also the mate of the Alpha King. She was also the first Luna Queen who led the war because of having a General title.
"I'm so jealous of you, Luna Queen Rachelle Simon," I murmured before I attacked and raised my sword to swing it at Reginald.
I could've wished that I could manage to break the barrier of becoming the first female Alpha here. That would be incredible...
Or perhaps, I could do that and must not mind what other people think just what Luna Queen Rachelle did.
I hissed in pain as I jumped backward when he almost lacerated my thigh. It was a good thing that I received only a small wound from it. Reginald scoffed arrogantly, seeing his blue eyes looking so proudly that he managed to hit me.
I attacked him. This time, I acted tripping on my feet which Reginald suddenly took as an opportunity to raise his claws so he could reach my head. But I drew out a smirk as I ducked and raised my sword upwards to pierce it to his shoulder.
He yelped in pain and fell to the ground after I managed to pierce the sword to his back. His wolf howled loudly as I sighed in boredom.
"Is that the best you can do, Reginald? You called yourself an Alpha of the Lone Crow pack yet you cannot even defeat a woman?" I rolled my eyes. "Pathetic..." I stayed in my position and didn't dare to approach him.
Who knows... He might pull some dirty tricks if I dared to come near him.
I threw my rapier sword enough to hit his hand the moment he transformed back to his human form.
"Fuck! Novalie! Damn you!" Reginald huffed as he removed my sword that pierced his hand to the ground before he threw it aside.
I looked at him coldly. "We only fought for not more than five minutes yet you are being like this? Did my late father-in-law really train you properly?" I sounded my voice like I was pitying him. Then I gasped. "Or must it that Jonathan the real Alpha of the Lone Crow pack, not you because you are an incompetent one?"
He shot me a glare as he tried to stand up but he failed and fell back to the ground again. I laughed and approached him as I stepped on the wound on his back causing him to hiss.
"Get off me, Novalie! I am going to kill you!" He tried to move but I stepped on his hand with my heel and pressed it. He shouted in pain which made me smile from ear to ear.
I put more of my weight on his other hand as I looked down on him with a cold facade. "I shall spare your life," I said coldly. "If my darling died because of you, I am not going to hesitate to kill you as well." I stepped back to take my sword to create some lashes on his back. "I promise to myself that I shall let you experience what you had done to Frederick. Let's see if you will survive this before I summon Timothy. What do you think, Reginald?" I tilted my head, looking at him with a frozen glare as I smiled sinisterly. "Would you like to place a bet with me that it will take you a month to recover?"
I crouched and pressed the blade to his bareback. I giggled maniacally when Reginald shouted in pain while I was having no mercy for this man.
"Huehue... So painful, isn't it?" I said sweetly while Reginald answered with screaming pain. "That's right, Reginald. Scream for me." I giggled. I looked up when I came to see Heimon who had a neutral expression right now. "Heimon, you have arrived. Have you seen my fight with your Alpha? He really is an incompetent one, right?"
Hesitant, Heimon glanced at Reginald who was still feeling the seething pain of the blade before he nodded. "I-Indeed, Luna."
I waited until Reginald was unconscious while he kept on cursing at me. I decided to stand up and kick him.
"Bring him back to his chamber and summon Timothy there," I ordered coldly. "Your incompetent Alpha already passed out," I added after I checked his pulse on his wrist earlier.
"Luna, shouldn't you declare that you are now the Alpha of the Lone Crow pack?" he asked as he took the sword from me when I handed it out to him. "I mean, it should have been a long time ago that you were the Alpha..."
I yawned and hissed when I looked at my thighs, seeing no scratch anymore. Then I stretched out my arms and looked at him.
"I want to do it. However, my father will be the hindrance of my plans." I looked down at Reginald before I stepped on him and kicked him with so much hatred against him.
I couldn't care less if he was already unconscious. I hated him for the fact I wanted him to die.
"It would be entertaining if I were the first female Alpha in the Sowinski Kingdom." I chuckled. "It would be nice if I could announce it."
Heimon bowed his head. "All of the pack members are already aware of this fact, Luna. If you will only declare that you are the new Alpha of the Lone Crow pack, you have our support," he said politely.
"That's a relief..." I smirked. "But I remember that I want to stay away here." I shrugged when Heimon's expression saddened me. I tapped his shoulder. "Fret not. Jonathan is suitable to be the next Alpha here. He is way better than Reginald."
"Luna..."
I walked away and didn't decide to look back again. I had already done my part to avenge my Frederick.
"It was time for me to rest..." I murmured as I felt my eyes getting droopy.
The moment I stepped forward again, I couldn't control my legs as I felt my vision being enveloped with darkness. The last thing I heard was Heimon's voice calling me.
I woke up and suddenly got up when I realized that I was already in my bed. Then I got to see the worried expressions of Philea and Heimon seeing that they were in my chamber.
"Luna, careful..." they said in unison as they tended to me. They helped me to get up properly.
"You exhausted yourself, Luna," Philea said when I was about to ask what happened to me.
Sighing, I nodded. "How's Frederick now?" I asked after I drank some water.
"Sir Frederick is already stable, Luna," she answered. "About Alpha Reginald—"
"Philea, can you not know when to shut up?" I chimed in and glared at her coldly. She stiffened in her ground and didn't dare to move. "You dare to mention that bastard's name here in my territory as if he is an important person here in my life? You must be courting death, aren't you?" I smirked.
I watched as her eyes were getting misty. Heimon tapped her shoulder. "Philea, allow me to handle this," he said softly. "It is better that you take Luna's meal here."
Philea nodded before she nodded her head before me. "P-Pardon me, Luna. I shall take my leave, first."
I waited for her to march away before I gaped at Heimon. "Next time, brief her, Heimon. I am not certain if your mate is dumb or she is just intentionally brought up that asshole to ruin my mood."
"I-I will brief her, Luna," he said and panicked when I hissed in feeling my body sore right now. "Y-You still need some bed rest, Luna." He guided me back to my bed which I allowed myself to lay down again because I couldn't feel my body right now. Then I stared at the canopy curtains before I heaved out a sigh. "I should have killed Reginald," I muttered.
"But you spare Alpha's life, Luna."
"Correct." I huffed. "I didn't pursue it because Frederick is in a stable condition. But if he happens to die, I could have sworn that I am ready to kill him and be the criminal here in the Sowinski Kingdom." I smirked when I realized that. "That would look so fun to be one."
I could become a killer. Or perhaps I would be marked as an Alpha slayer. Ah, that would be nice to be called one.
"What will happen now if Alpha Reginald is healed, Luna?"
Before I could answer, the door opened revealing Philea holding a tray of soup. "I asked our cook to cook you an herbal chicken soup, Luna. This will nourish your health."
I got up after Heimon helped me. "Make one for Frederick once he is able to take food." Philea nodded. Before I could eat, I glanced at them. "How's everyone? Did the casualties Reginald and I hurt my pack members?" I asked, arching my eyebrow.
"No one is hurt, Luna." It was Heimon who answered. "Everyone went to the packhouse for safety."
"Good." I felt relief upon hearing that. It was a good thing that they stayed there because I didn't want my pack members to be caught up with Reginald and I's fight. "Tomorrow. Summon Francis for reconstructing the manor," I ordered as I tasted the delicious herbal chicken soup.
"As you command, Luna," Philea and Heimon said in unison.
Then I looked and grinned. "Then we will use Reginald's cheque book to pay for them. I am certain my husband will not get mad if I use it, right?"
With my hilarious statement, Philea and Heimon exchanged glances like they knew that I was looking for another brawl with that asshole.
Because I am.
I am looking forward to it again.
I am looking forward that perhaps next time would be his death already.
I giggled at that thought.
