Chapter 11
The staff, with the co-director, comment on their bad opinions about Howard and decide to show him who's boss.
He goes over to explain the scene to Howard as Tiffany encourages him from the sidelines. Howard manages to get pushed into the water on the first take and Tiffany rushes over to help him. It seems like the take is good, until the co-director says that they had some problems so they have to redo it. Tiffany notices their smirks and says that they're doing it on purpose but Howard doesn't want to create any trouble. Tiffany notices that it doesn't look like he can swim and asks if he's afraid of water but Howard doesn't answer and simply tells her to mind her own business.
She was Worried, and decides to go over to the director herself to ask to be Howard's substitute. He agrees, figuring they can just modify the angles, and Tiffany tells Howard the good news. He's surprised and asks if she's gone crazy but Tiffany sticks by her word saying that there's nothing he can do about it.
This time Howard nervously watches from the sidelines as Tiffany continually gets pushed into the water over and over again. He seems to grow more worried with every take and when they finally get the perfect one, he runs over to give her a towel. She doesn't want him to see her, though, since her makeup is ruined, and runs away from him. Howard's worried since he doesn't know what just happened.
Laurence is walking when she's stopped by some street thugs, who just won't leave her alone. Kengsington sees them at that moment and calls them out. All it takes is for him to introduce himself before they run away. They both want to know what the other is doing there, Laurence is there to work and kengsington says that it's his family's restaurant and tells her to go home, she was already going on her way anyway. She continues on her way but he has a change of heart and offers to take her home. This time on his motorcycle he has two helmets, the last time he only had one.
When she arrives home her father opens the door to find kengsington out there with her, he was just about to leave but her dad told him to come in. They go through the introductions and her father thanks him for bringing her home and invites him in for dinner. Laurence tries to get him out of it but her father insists so kengsington enters the house.
Her mother serves the dishes and they treat kengsington as though he were their own son. He does seem a little shocked when her father begins having a coughing attack but Laurence and her mother quickly know what to do to help him. Her father explains that she's always been clumsy and is thankful that she has a friend like kengsington, that seems to bring a smile to his face.
Her mother asks him what dishes his mother makes when he's at home, since she wants to make them for him next time, only to have kengsington reveal that his parents aren't home that often. She responds by giving him more food but it seems like it's something for Laurence to think about.
The next day Tiffany meets Howard early in the morning and he wants to know if she's okay and if she's not angry anymore. She says she never was angry. She comments that he's a bit strange and begins to wonder but changes the subject to want to know what he wants with her and that is to take her somewhere. She follows him inside of the place that was probably once some sort of garden since there are all sorts of plants around. She's pretty impressed with what she sees and Howard gives her a small plant. He tells her that its name is Tiffany, the same as hers, because it's ugly like her. Howard, I see that small smile you gave there. He tells her that he accidentally discovered it and that no one ever goes there, so he cleaned up the place to use for when he needs to be alone. Howard reveals that she's the very first person he ever brought there and she wonders if it's because he's thankful that she became his assistant and that if she does it a couple of more times, he'll fall in love with her. Howard thinks that that's ridiculous.
At the fan café, they comment on the lack of Breathe on Howard's new CD. They wonder if maybe the agency stopped him from releasing it and decide to not let his hard work go to waste. Therefore they decide to hack into the company computer to grab the demo MV, download it, and presumably probably upload it to the internet. That is totally not going to go well for anyone. Even though Howard went through with his end of the bargain, canceling the release of Breathe, if the fangirls upload the video, which I assume they're going to do since they did that with the school performance of the song, then kengsington might have something else to get on Howard about. I'm not entirely sure what the two of them should do, though. It's clear that kengsington absolutely hates Howard but it doesn't really seem like Howard exactly hates him that much in return. Instead, I guess it would seem like he feels guilty about the entire thing so he lets kengsington take his anger out on him. Who knows, maybe the two would benefit from actually trying to talk things out, but if these feelings have been growing in kengsington for the past three years, then I bet that the very last thing he wants to do with Howard is actually talk about things.
But I feel like Tiffanyis slowly chipping away at his exterior. Howard perhaps being able to open up more to Jessica because he views her as a stranger After all, she did star opposite of him in the music video and he probably figured that she'd be wondering why it was never released, so by giving her some of the backstory, he was explaining the situation he was in without going too much into detail. With the situation that happened at the movie filming site at the pool, however, Tiffany is slowly getting bits and pieces of the story. She still probably thought he was faking about not wanting to swim that day they had their lesson in school, but after seeing his reaction to them adding a new scene, she could see that he was really being genuine about it.
Howard, though, is definitely falling for her hard. Howard is at that point. He was truly worried about her falling into the pool for him that many times and was also worried that she was angry at him, maybe due to his inability to enter into the water himself Plus, he even took her to one of the places he always went to be alone away from everyone and that definitely says something. He's sharing his space, the space he liked to use to be alone, with someone else. Also, they always say that you get honest when you're drunk and Howard was showing his true colors when he went to find Tiffany at her dorm. He was jealous of her and Jeff at the restaurant, and also had pent up jealousy of her interactions with Andrew, which haven't even really been that much actually. He's jealous that she spends time with other men and offered his wallet and money as a way to get her to stop interacting with them, but I feel like Tiffany doesn't want to read too much into it and wants to pass it off as him just being drunk. She doesn't really believe his reason, when she asked him in the car, but she doesn't really know what to make of it. Also, he does seem to reject the idea of him and Tiffany together just a little too quickly every time.
Tiffany is slightly aware of her growing attraction to Howard as she does smile whenever he does something nice for her and came to that realization when she began drawing actual nice pictures of him and began imagining him in her room. Even though she's aware of it, Howard always ends up doing something to kind of negate those feelings a little bit. There always seems to be something that causes her to be annoyed at him for some reason, even though it seems like he's starting to try to make it up to her, hence taking her to his alone space and gifting her with a plant that he named after her. Plus who else saw that smile after he said that joke. Maybe he's starting to like her reaction whenever he says off-hand comments like that.
Needless to say, they're starting to loves eachother. they show some a way of caring for one another and then turn around and experience a romantic moment.
