Chapter 15
Professor winfield says that her father was a good person and loved her mother the most in the world. he gets up to get a photo album to show Tiffany the first day that her parents met, which was at a dance competition.
Turns out that Alonzo's dance partner didn't show up and with no other choice, he was going to forfeit the competition. That's when lavinia shows up, walking towards them. She apologizes for her friend who had something urgent came up and sent her in her place. They exchange brief greetings and practice for a little before the dance. The two slightly awkward with one another as lavinia can't really dance. In the end they decide to take a break before the competition and they get to know each other a bit better. Lavinia comments on Alonzo's nervousness and tells him that she thinks it's better if they enjoy the music and feel the rhythm. Alonzo feels comforted by her words and he takes her hand to dance again. This time they're in sync with one another.
Professor winfield tells Tiffany that he was stunned by watching them dance and that he felt like he was looking at happiness.
Tiffany is happy to hear that and wants to know what happened next. Professor winfield said that lavinia joined Student Council for Alonzo and became its President.
Tiffany wonders if Professor winfield knows what happened to her parents after they graduated but the last time he saw them was when Alonzo proposed to lavinia. It was at night when Professor winfield helped with the music as Alonzo met lavinia.
The song that's playing is the same song they danced to when they first met. He tells her that their graduation could be a new beginning for them and proposes marriage to her. She accepts and they're greeted with applause from all of their friends. A young Professor winfield looks on in happiness.
he explains that he heard that the two went to work in south yorks and he went on in his own life, slowly losing contact with them. Tiffany, with tears in her eyes, thanks Professor winfield for telling her so many things about them revealing that it's her first time hearing so much. Professor winfield is curious as to whether Tiffany found out anything about her father and when she says she hasn't, he vows to help her.
Tiffany notices that it's getting late and has to go back to school. She has Professor winfield promise her, though, that he has to keep her identity a secret since she came to the school without her grandfather knowing. Professor winfield promises to do so.
Tiffany begins her walk back to school thinking about the stories she just heard about her parents. She thinks that her parents loved each other so much and wonders if her grandfather lied to her about her father abandoning her mother. In order to get an answer, she decides to call her grandfather.
Did he lie? Based on what Professor winfield said about her parents, it seemed like they did love each other a lot. Could something have happened that would result in them being separated? There's probably something else at hand, there has to be. She found out some more things about them. Her grandfather has never really told her about her parents before. no stories or anything. He should've told her something at some point instead of just telling her that her father abandoned her mother and never came to see her.
that good that Professor winfield at least say some happy things that happened to them in the past and is able to recount his memories. That way Tiffany is able to get some happy stories about her parents and learn that her parents did have some happy times together before whatever happened between them happened.
Tiffany's whole comment of ‘I love you, too makes Howard feel something in his mind and him saying i love you made her feel butterflies even though it an acting scene.
the dynamic between Howard and kengsington. It's clear that their relationship probably took a turn for the worse back when whatever happened to Victoria happened, but it's kind of like how did it become this way? Kengsington is so defensive about her and is willing to practically do anything to destroy Howard's life because of it. Howard doesn't look like he's ready to answer any of the hard questions about it yet, so I wonder when exactly he'll be ready to start talking about the events that happened back then because it seems like the two of them just really need to duke it out at some point in order to get their feelings out in order.
But it's really interesting to see kengsington's softer demeaner with Laurence. She doesn't have to take care of him. a part of her probably despise him based on everything that he's done to Tiffany so far. However, she's more intrigued by him than anything. She's seen that he can be a caring person, despite what other misconceptions that other people have of him, and she knows that his parents aren't around that often so maybe takes a little pity on him. She doesn't really go out of her way to help him, she just does some kind things for him once in a while that seem to touch him. It's like no one has ever done something nice for him ever in his life, and maybe that's a reason why he seems to be attaching himself to her so quickly.
Kengsington has to get over the past as well in order to start anything new with Laurence. He did call her Victoria's name when he was drunk and he has all of the hatred built up inside of him for who knows how long that it's not going to be easy for him to let it go. At this point, he's curious about Laurence the reason why she's so nice to him. he's someone who doesn't think he deserves to be treated nicely.
Laurence can help him get out of that funk and perhaps start being nicer to Howard and Tiffany, making friends once again in them.
