Chapter 39
Howard tries to set it straight by saying that he only mean it as a younger sister and susanne steps in. Bernice was so mad on what Howard said. He just want to make a fool of her Unable to take it any longer why must he say it infront of everyone. If he takes her as a sister then that not the case in her place because she took him as someone more than friend whom she wants to spend her entire life with, she got mad and leaves, and Andrew goes after her to make sure she's alright.
In tears Bernice walks back to her hotel room and Andrew unsuccessfully tries to calm her down by saying that it's only a mere setback she's experiencing she shouldn't take a little word serious But Bernice already on the brink saying that she doesn't want to live if she's not with Howard and locks herself in her room and cries.
Later susanne knocks on Howard's door to have him help with Bernice who's locked in her room and won't come out, she's been braking things in the room. She doesn't answer to anyone's calls and when Tiffany comes susanne puts all the blame on Tiffany for making Bernice like that.
An employee comes to open the room and they find Bernice inside passed out from taking sleeping pills. Tiffany suggests that they take her to the hospital and susanne yells at Tiffany to stop causing trouble and that none of that would've happened if she hadn't come, and the biggest problem is if she hasn't come into Howard's life this wouldn't have happened. That a bad way to make someone feel even more terrible.
Everyone is at the hospital, even Bernice parents, when Tiffany finally arrives. They're all relieved to hear that she's in a stable condition. Howard looks like the energy is drained out of him but he sees Tiffany standing a little bit far away from everyone and gives her a smile. She doesn't approach any further because she got a phone call so Howard goes after her.
It's her Grandpa who calls her because he was missing her but he's in bed and has a bad cough, he wasn't feeling too well. Tiffany is concerned and can tell that her grandfather has gotten sick again. She promises to head home soon to see him to take care of him and Howard overhears from afar. Once she's hung up the phone he approach her.
Tiffany wonders if Bernice is alright and Howard updates her on her condition. She informs him that she has to go home because her grandfather has fallen ill and he looks sad, but tells her to take care of her grandfather. Tiffany tells him to take good care of Bernice and they hug. Howard tells her to come back soon and she nods her head saying she'll miss him and he says he will, too. They regretfully depart from each other. And that made Howard to miss her more he wish he can follow her but he can't right at that moment because of the situation Bernice is in, he won't be able to do what he wants to.
Tiffany safely arrives home and rushes to see her grandfather. Howard is still in Bernice hospital room when she wakes up he begins to check on her. But Bernice just looks at him without saying anything. She just feels bored.
A way to make things worse susanne is a bad girl she's influencing Bernice on bad things. honestly can't stand her at all, like zero. Bernice has her own feelings and things, but like Andrew said, it's only a small setback in that what if the guy she likes doesn't like her back? It's not like her entire life is going to end, that's what Andrew thinks and advice Bernice on but she thinks he want to separate her from the love of her life. at least he's a good thinker. Susanne isn't making things better, though. She's edging Bernice on in a way, helping her keep up that unhealthy lifestyle of basically making Howard her entire world.
It's sad for Tiffany and Howard who really only started their relationship and are now faced with the evil forces of susanne, such a bad girl. It's clear that they both really feel horrible about this with susanne blaming Tiffany, and Howard's feels like it's his fault because of Bernice unhealthy obsession with him that they both know that there's just nothing they can do about it and as long as susanne is still around, it's definitely not getting better Plus it doesn't help that Howard and Tiffany are now separated.
Tiffany is back home in Cornwall city and Howard is at the hospital with Bernice Thinking about Tiffany he had no choice than to stay with Bernice but he promised to set things up with Bernice and made it clear to her to let him be he doesn't love her at all. He have been trying his best telling her that she's like a sister to him but she seems to made fun of his words. But his going to set things right once she recovers.
Andrew is a nice guy he cares for Bernice even though she is mischievous, and sometimes arrogant he still likes her the way she, and still leading her to the right part even though she abuses him. It good that he's the voice of reason with her. Now it might be something hard for him to make her come to her right senses, but at least he tries and kind of doesn't give up on her in a way.
There are probably not enough words that can be added when it comes to annoyance of susanne. It's not so much of Bernice fault as it is hers for doing that kind of thing to Bernice. She's giving her a false hope that everything's going to work out in her favor and thereby it makes her condition worse because then it just makes her act drastically when things don't go her way.
