Chapter 49

While in the hallway Daniel points out that everything's going well and Anna wonders if he made up his mind. Before Howard can answer, he got a voicemail from Tiffany who apologizes to him for throwing a fit about his dream. She figures she's just a passerby in his life and knows she should support him in his dream. She adds that he give her a call when he's free and that she'll always be there. It sounds like a goodbye voicemail.
Representative Oliver calls the three back in where they announce that the contract has been written. Elijah invites Howard to the states and he agrees to go, much to the delight of everyone except Howard, really.
He and Tiffany walk on the bridge when she asks when he's leaving. It's the day after tomorrow so they don't have much time. He asks if she'll come see him off but she isn't so sure and ultimately rejects the invite. He points out that he's leaving and asks again but she doesn't answer the question and only hugs him.
She finally confesses to just not wanting to see him off since she won't be able to do it and figures they should say goodbye right then and there. She gives him a quick goodbye and quickly lets go of him before speed walking away, unable to look back at him.
Tiffany is in class with Howard's empty seat next to her. She dejectedly stares at the seat. Howard  is in the car with Elijah to go to America where he asks for the inspiration of "Be my Love".' Howard  explains that it's for the most important girl in his life and begins to praise all of Tiffany's qualities. He tells him that he's affected and encouraged by her move and every word and he fell in love with her before he realized it.
Back at school Tiffany sees Howard's  favorite chocolates in the desk and looks at her watch. Howard is continuing to explain his story to Elijah when the car suddenly stops because of the driver being so touched by Howard's story that he wants to go see his first love. Howard  apologizes to Elijah and wants to follow his heart and also gets out of the car saying he can't go to America. At the same time, Tiffany bolts out of the classroom.
They both begin to run to their destinations and of course miss each other by a hair. Howard finally arrives at the school only to find out that Tiffany isn't there. Jeff is surprised to see him, as well as everyone else, and when he asks about Tiffany everyone tells him that she went to find him. She finally arrives at the airport but is unable to find Howard, as he's obviously not there, but she doesn't know that and continues to try to look around. With no Howard in sight, she resigns herself to thinking that he's gone.
It's late when she returns to campus that night but a guitar begins to play in the distance and Tiffany looks over to see Howard playing it. He begins to sing "Be my love" and Tiffany can't believe her eyes as she approaches him. He jumps up on stage to reveal Jeff playing the piano, Laurence on the bass, and kengsington on the drums playing with him.
She stands there listening to the song and as the chorus picks up, a crowd of students surround her. Everyone from the fangirls at the café, Bernice's lackeys, Anna , and even some of the professors.
During the second chorus Howard  hops down from the stage and approaches Tiffany. He vows to her that no matter what happens he'll never leave her and tells her he loves her. Tiffany smiles and they kiss in front of everyone. And it's no let's juststand-here-awkwardly-with-our-lips-only-pressed-against-each-other-while-everyone-stares kind of kiss. they actually move.
As Tiffany enters a café and talks about everything that she lost, like her look and identity, but she found love, made friends, and even found her true self. She thinks that a story doesn't necessarily need to have an ending and that you'll only end up contradicting yourself if you define everything.
Bernice comes on as Tiffany explains that she's still mean but Andrew has somehow tamed her.
Kengsington, on the other hand, has become gentle since he started dating Laurence yet he still try to get someone to move, just in a not so threatening way. Laurence scolds him and he apologizes but all is good.
Jeff looks down in the dumps but Tiffany says that he did end up finding someone and that someone is none other than Tiffany's best friend Michelle. She's decided to transfer to the college and Tiffany  introduces the two.
Tiffany narrates that for her and Howard, her drawings is going to be published and says that Howard  career has plummeted since he didn't agree to go to the states and he completely depends on her as he brings a kid. She says that the kid is their own and that Howard is a family man who stays at home and takes care of their kids.
it was only her imagination in her book and Howard calls it ridiculous that she said his career plummeted and he points out that she didn't want a kid yet. Tiffany reasons that she has to make her drawings marketable and says that his career will make a comeback in the story. Howard doesn't agree and leaves her sitting at the table with Tiffany chasing after him.
Both Howard and Tiffany just want to stay with each other and they could argue that they're young and still have opportunities in front of them, that they could tried to work through a long distance relationship. with Howard working on his career in America and Tiffany in Switzerland. That was really amazing but them being apart was ahww not enjoyable but they essentially gave up their dreams, partly, to be with one another.
