Chapter 29
Tiffany ends up dragging Howard to the field and immediately asks him about what he and Michelle were doing. Howard tries to explain but Tiffany doesn't believe what he's saying and hits him in anger and it's only then that she notices the wound on his hand and pinches it just a little bit harder.
It's after that that Howard asks if Michelle is really her best friend. Tiffany says she is and Howard gives a word of advice that she still needs to learn how to read people so not to put so much trust in a friend. She laughs at his comment but brushes it off as nothing. Howard notices the scarecrow in the field and Tiffany removes the kite that's around it and they begin to play with it in the field.
They took a little break and she explains her love for kites come from the fact that is one of the only memories she has of her parents. Howard understands since his mother also passed away when he was younger and his father seemingly never cared about him since it feels like they only fight when they see one another. But Tiffany brings up the possibility of his father not being as mean as he thinks.
Howard isn't so sure but Tiffany shows him a picture saying that on the day he was sick she went to visit his house and accidentally ended up in the wrong room. However, in that room, there were many things about Howard like his albums, news papers, some magazines. Tiffany tells him that his father loves him more than he could imagine, it's just that he doesn't know how to express himself. Tiffany says she's envious of him since she's still trying to get used to life without her parents and that she sometimes wondered how nice it would be to have someone by her side.
Howard tells her that she was the one who helped him overcome his darkest moment and wonders if he could perhaps be the one who always keeps her company. He confesses that he's noticed he's started to care more and more about what she thinks and finally confesses that he likes her. She smiles in response but before she can actually say anything Howard leans in.
Their romantic moment is unfortunately interrupted by Michelle who calls them back to the house saying that Grandpa was looking for them. Tiffany and Michelle walk back together as she says that she wanted to make sure Howard was compatible with her and thinks back to when they were hanging the sheets, confessing about the moment to Tiffany.
As Michelle and Howard were hanging, she suggests that they go into town, claiming that it's more interesting than the small village. Howard is interested but only if Tiffany comes. Michelle begins to question whether someone like Howard would like the small village town but he compliments it and brings up Tiffany's every moment. Michelle questions their relationship and he doesn't deny that Tiffany is more than an ordinary classmate to him. Michelle calls Tiffany a poor and ugly girl asking if he won't consider her but Howard immediately stands up for her. In the present day Michelle compliments Tiffany's taste in men thinking that she'll be fine.
Grandpa is waiting outside of the house for them to arrive and claims that Howard is going to stay at the house. He said that there's no electricity but that's the first time that Tiffany is even hearing about that. Howard doesn't get flustered and offers to help Tiffany get the room ready.
That night the two of them sit outside on a bench. They're slightly awkward with one another and as they're sitting on the bench, Howard slowly gets closer to her. He asks her about her thoughts of that morning and she asks for some time to think about it. He doesn't see any problem with it and they both admire the night sky. She may be hesitant, though, because she knows she's lying to him despite him doing so much for her.
The next morning Tiffany wakes up to find Howard fixing the electrical wires of the house. That's not the only reason he's up early, he has to leave to go united state of America for some training in preparation for the release of his new album. Tiffany wants to take him to the airport but he tells her to stay with her grandfather and takes his leave. He does tell her that he had fun the past couple of days and it seems like he doesn't want to leave.
Grandpa wakes up and sees that the light is fixed. Tiffany explains that it was Howard's doing and learns that he had to leave. The two sit at the table and Tiffany expresses her desire to tell Howard the truth. Grandpa understands and tells her she can make her own decision as she'll be the one bearing the consequences.
Howard is in (USA) that night watching TV and wondering why Tiffany isn't calling him. She does finally call, and they begin to chat for a little while. He wants to do a video chat but she manages to escape it by saying that there was a power outage. She can't talk on a video call because she's back at her actual house and back to being her regular self.
She asks him about his training and he admits to missing her. She tells him to go to the window and he excitedly thinks that she came to visit him. It's not true, although it would have been great if she just showed up there and admitted to her true self. But the real reason she told him to go to the window is to see the round full moon.
Tiffany complains of not feeling sleepy so Howard offers to sing her his new song, she'll be the first one to hear it. She pretends like she's a radio host to introduce the new song and he sings ‘After.' It's actually the ending (dusk till dawn) and is originally sung by Zain malik. Tiffany loves the song and praises him. But she still doesn't feel sleepy so he offers to sing another song but as he's thinking about what song to sing, he realizes that Tiffany has fallen asleep.
