Chapter 28
While in the fields the two have some parody type thing as Howard slowly advances in the farming training. First he farms with a hoe, with various moves, and is then upgraded to a handheld machine when he wants to learn something harder. The next step after that is a cow itself and Howard begins to shy away from it but Grandpa attempts to convince him.
Her Grandpa brings over some of their best fertilizer and Howard takes it in both hands to smell. He doesn't know what it is. He comments that it smells good and of fresh grass and when hearing that it's because the cow ate fresh grass, he finally understands what it is he just touched and smelled.
The two take a moment to rest and Grandpa compliments Howard. He brings up his celebrity life and compares it to their slightly poverished farming lifestyle. He tells him that he honestly thinks it's a nice place and that he can understand why There is always cheerful, feeling that growing up in such a nice place would create a cheerful person.
By the time they arrive back home, the house has smoke coming out of it and Tiffany appears announcing that the food is done. Her Grandpa seems surprised she actually cooked and she details the trouble she had cooking a fish when her best friend, Michelle appears. She introduces herself as linda, the neighborhood beauty and reveals that Grandpa asked her to help. When she and Howard say their introductions, she immediately latches on, to an uncomfortable looking Howard.
The four of them finally sit for lunch and Tiffany reveals the dishes before them, none of which sound or look appetizing. Grandpa looks like he regret ever putting her in charge. Grandpa passes them off as Tiffany's favorites, creating stories for them and relating it to their poor lifestyle.
Michelle and Grandpa offer some food to Howard but Tiffany doesn't let the opportunity pass as she gives them some food in return telling them to eat first. The two begin to say that Howard should eat it first since he's the guest so Howard musters up his courage and takes a bite.
Michelle plays up the neighborhood beauty role, touching Howard frequently and calling him intimately as though they've known each other for a while, which Tiffany comments on. Grandpa fans the fire as he comments that he thinks the two match each other perfectly. Michelle agrees with Grandpa and Howard looks awkward.
Once they clean up from their meal, Grandpa assigns Michelle and Howard to the wash and as they walk away, Michelle links her arm with Howard's leaving an angry Tiffany behind as she walks away to talk with her grandfather. Howard notices her angry mood.
Tiffany confronts Grandpa asking why it seems like they're conspiring against her. She wants to know the reason for putting on the show and giving him a hard time since Howard is her best friend. That makes her grandfather laugh as he questions whether Howard would still want to be her friend after seeing the poor and ugly side of her. Tiffany still believes that Howard isn't a superficial person, though. Grandpa believes that if he doesn't pass the test then he's not qualified to be her friend, referencing his earlier comment to her about how the person she likes has to be compatible with the family.
Back with Howard and Michelle, the two are hanging up the sheets and Michelle offers to help but Howard would rather do it himself, being a little short with her. She still insists that she should help but he just moves on without her and eventually reveals to her that the only reason he's nice to her is because she's Tiffany's best friend and thereby doesn't want to put her in a difficult position. He tries to leave but Michelle grabs onto him and they both go down pulling the sheet with them. Tiffany arrives at that moment and pulls Howard up from the ground and takes him away.
Howard saw Tiffany's expression not good at all, he smilled a little making her more angry. He asked her why she's frowning her face, and she told him why didnt he declined Michelle's help. He told her it seems like she's jealous. She said to him that she's not jealous she's advising him, but Howard was happy she's jealous she just wanted to change the topic in order not to understand that she's jealous. He told he that he knew she was jealous and he's going to put a smile on her face, but she declined that she doesn't need anything. at that point he kissed her on her forehead and that makes her happy
A jealous Tiffany. She knows she kind of likes Howard but just probably doesn't understand the extent that her feelings go. She knows that her grandfather and Michelle are putting on a show but it still bothers her that they're doing that.
As for Howard, he's put in a slightly awkward position just as he mentioned to Michelle. He doesn't want Tiffany to have to choose between him or her best friend therefore he decides to play nice knowing that it would make Tiffany happy to see everyone get along and be friends. But it's clear to see that he doesn't like Michelle's advances and probably thinks she's like a flirt who doesn't care for Tiffany at all, seeing how she's all over him.
Howard is been lied to. if he knew the actual place Tiffany leaves he would've probably been disappointed that she had hid something like that from him but if she and her grandfather were able to properly explain it at that time then they'd probably be able to easily get through the lie. But now that her grandfather has even gone so far as to create a fake village just to keep up with the lie, that can't look good for anyone especially Tiffany.
