Let It Go

Chris:

“We really didn’t get a chance to talk yesterday with LC and Bailey arriving, plus Amelia and the whole pregnancy scare, but we were being honest about the whole situation. You ask, we answer, but certain parts are just as frightening to cause even more of your current… mental state.” The slight tick in her right brow signaled I had said something she didn’t like, causing me to step back as she stepped sideways toward the liquor cabinet.

“Great! Drive my scared Temptress into drinking. Real Classic.” Roger growled out in link, snapping the final thread of self-control as my body roared to life in a tremulous tsunami of static heat.

“SHUT THE FUCK UP!” Lunging at them as they jumped to their feet in challenge, disregarding the whimpering scared scream as we stood in a stand-off in the middle of our living room with extended claws and snarling fangs.

“You IDIOTS!” Someone roared angrily as LC and Bailey sprinted down the guest hallway, noticing Elicia was gone, and Maxine fuming pissed behind Amelia’s panting body, but my fucking asshole brothers were my target.

“PISS OFF!” We shouted back before realizing who we actually responded to, slowly turning around as mom stood solid in the entryway with dad and Dom looking between themselves with tensed expressions as they looked back at us with humorous smirks.

Fucking Hell! Might as well kiss our asses Goodbye.

“You ungrateful fools.” Those beautiful jade eyes blazed to life in a deadly sheen as her voice growled out in a scary humming, instantly regretting this whole situation transpiring before us as she took two slow steps before disappearing.

Shit! She’s beyond pissed.

Suddenly smacked across the head with a solid stinging snap, gut punched, slammed to the floor in the blink of an eye as my brothers groaned and grunted from their crippled positions shared with my painful pose on the hard flooring.

“If you ever…” Her growling tone had us looking up into those red hued orbs as the jade swirled violently around her pupils, heaving out angry breaths as she contemplated whether to kill us or show mercy in our moment of stupidity.

“We know.. we know.. if we ever disrespect you like that again, then we might as well dig our own graves and crawl in.” Elias grunted out as he slowly sat up, watching her closely as she lingered over us snorting out a sneered laugh.

“If you believe I would ever allow such a simple death, then you’re sorely mistaken young man.” She leaned down into his face, flicking his nose with a sharp finger as we slowly shifted onto the sectional as Amelia and Maxine disappeared down the hallway.

“Now, explain yourselves?” She snapped upright, lacing her hands behind her back as she paced back and forth, ignoring dad and Dom as they poured themselves bourbons with the occasional glance over their shoulders. Her light auburn waves swaying gently along her black bloused back as her black calf boots, clunked softly against the hard flooring.

Groaning into my hands, dropping back against the cushions trying to figure out where everything got so complicated and fucked up, but finding myself slamming into a mental brick wall.

“We were discussing house hunting, and I just happened to remember our first time experiencing our piece of shit father, demonstrating “breaking-in” a trainee, because three years of normalcy can’t override years of fuckery. That’s why.” Scoffing at my own explanation as mom stopped in her tracks, narrowing her eyes as her hand sliced through the air, cracking loudly against my cheek as the stinging burn shivered darkly through my body.

“After everything you four experienced, and yet you’re still fucking clueless.” Dad hissed darkly into his glass of bourbon as he glared over the edge of the glimmering glass with blazing red orbs.

“I was trying to fix the situation, but these Assholes don’t know when to keep their fucking mouths shut, well, more like links shut, but it was enough to aggravate my already tensed emotional state.” Standing up, because sitting was making the anxiety worse as my mind swirled between my Hummingbird’s emotional distress, and the murderous stares from mom and dad, while Dom stared off into oblivion tapping his finger along the rim of his glass.

“Please don’t lecture me… I know I fucked up big time. The fear and anxiousness was evident enough as she called us “monsters”, which is true, but she means so much more to us that we have no fucking clue what we’re truly doing… until it’s too late.” Tugging crazily at my locks, knowing I looked like a mad man pacing wildly along the living room as mom’s serious expression softened into a loving smile.

“Oh, Chris. Honey, that’s the craziness of the mate bond. It drives you head-on into stupidity, but that girl just experienced something so mind-fucking, that sudden thoughts of your past will trigger her fear and panic. Finding that balance to explain your past, will be harder than said, but I have faith in you boys. Dominic is experiencing his own complications with Atlas’ past, because it put her in a position that could have led to her death for treason against the Lycan Royals, along with the High Coven.” Mom placed her palms on Dom’s shoulders as he nodded to her explanation, placing a kiss to her hand as she stood behind his chair.

It was like a weight lifted from our link as the overwhelming urge to cry, hit us like a Mac Truck as dad stood quickly to catch my trembling body. My knees buckling under my weight as everything collided in a hurricane of memories and emotions that were buried so deep, that the skies became dark and rainy, purging the grief and anguish that plagued us from birth.

“Let it go.” Dad hugged my trembling body, guiding me back to my brothers huddled together on the sectional. Squeezing one another in ugly sobs of confusion, and defeat that we had to experience such evil from the very start of our lives.

“Crying is not weakness; it shows you have a heart and truly care for the ones that mean the most to you in life. Never doubt yourselves in who you truly are.. in here.” Dad placed his hand over my heart, sparking a strange heat to roll through our bodies as Elicia appeared in soggy sobs leaning against the wall.

“I-I.. am so s-sorry. I didn’t m-mean to h-hurt you.. I’m the monster, n-not you.” She crumbled to the ground, leaning her head against the hardwood in a kneeling ball of crying sobs.

“Hummingbird.” Croaking out in a soggy voice, quickly jumping over the sectional to her kneeling stance as tears puddled under her cupped face with her beautiful, fiery ombre locks scattered about clinging to her chapped cheeks. Scooping her into my chest, brushing back her dampened locks with soft kisses along her forehead as my brothers huddled around my rocking pose.

“it’s true.” Her voice sobbed harder into my chest as my brothers and I did the only thing we knew how at the moment, soothing her inner turmoil with soft circular rubs along her back and arms, while everyone quietly left the house with nods and understanding smiles.

“Hey…hey. Look at us Hummingbird?” Cupping her soggy chin with my finger as her bloodshot hazel-blues, slowly looked up at our own soggy appearances as she wiped away the watery droplets hanging on for dear life along her long black lashes.

“We were born into a world filled with evil everywhere we looked, but the only thing, well, person that truly cared about us, was Max. He trained us to never look back, to keep on fighting, and we did to a point.” Thumbing away a tear that lingered at the corner of her plump lip, slowly licking away the salty goodness. Grinning as her lips pursed together with a pouty expression, side glancing my brothers as they watched her with sly smirks.

“I understand.” She leaned back enough to look at us, finding ourselves in a strange huddle with our knees a few inches apart as she shifted into my folded legs like a chair, which was kind of refreshing to be honest.

“Kitten, we had nothing of value, besides each other and we used that for our own selfish gain. We hated our father but thrived on the pain we could inflict on others and ourselves.” Elias paused to gauge her mental understanding as his ambered orbs reflected a silent fear, exhaling slowly as she cupped his cheek with a reassuring smile.

“You thrived on numbing your emotions. You found the only outlet available, torture and fighting.” Stunned into silence as we looked at one another in complete disbelief, before confirming her words with nods of apprehension.

“There’s more to this, than just torture and fighting, Butterfly. We self-discipline and enjoy sexually torturing others. Our inner demons are vicious creatures and we’re scared for you, and how you will react when normal sex isn’t enough for us.” Ben looked as if he was fixing to crawl into a hole and die with each word spoken but forced a soft smile as she silently took in our words, twisting her fingers around in her shirt.

“So, you’ll cheat.” Her expression stayed blank, staring at her hands as they trembled inside the wrapped material, shifting enough to tilt her chin up as her swirling blues misted over in a strangled whimper.

Snarls… How could she think that? Oh, wait.
