Chapter One-hundred-and-three: Fulfilling promises, Part 2

Troy looks at both Nuria and I and then notices the Geodras behind me, where he starts frowning. His eyes fall back on me.

“We’ve been waiting for you Luna….for a while.” He looks at Nuria. “She said she cannot fulfil her promise until you were back.” He pauses a moment, then proceeds, pleading with Nuria. “She’s back now, can you please help us with our request?”

I see Nuria struggle to respond but turn I look to the Geodras and get a weird feeling. I look back at Troy.

“I need Nuria here with me to help me with something.” I lie, trying to buy some time. “I’m going to complete the promise I made to them, then you can whisk her away. You can stay, if there are no complaints from the blue giants.” I use their actual names, which causes Troy to squint his eyes, as if trying to figure out what they are.

I smile, not hearing any complaints from either side. I then clash my hands together, creating a sickle like weapon made of obsidian. I create it to be just long enough to reach the blue giants chest to pierce their hearts.

I walk over and stand in front of what I’ve assumed is the leader whom I was speaking to earlier, leaning on the sickle I’ve created. “Are you sure about this? I won’t hurt you?”

The Geodra looks down. “We know what you are to do, Goddess. Please go ahead.” It then taps its chest right in the middle, signalling where I need to hit it.

I breathe outwards and raise the weapon I’ve created. I pull it backwards, my arms allowing it to go as far back as possible. I look once more to the face of the Geodra before me, and, not seeing any resistance, I bring the sickle forward with as much force as possible, it hitting the Geodras chest with a massive crack, directly where it pointed to. The obsidian point wedged into the chest, sending cracks out the way of the point of entry.

I pull out the weapon, the cracks created slowly spreading further around the Geodra, as if it were an egg being cracked. The cracks slowly wrap around the body, and I stand there, mesmerised for a few moments. I see the Geodra next to the leader move slightly, as if ushering me to do the next one.

I walk over to it, turning to see Troy and Nuria watching intently the Geodras shin of the one I hit, fall apart.

I then go through the other six and aim the sickle right at their heart. Once I finish the last one, I take a few steps back and look to them.

Around each of them, I see the crystals falling from their bodies to the floor, the space besides the leader filled the most as I dealt the blow to it first. I see a tint of light blue under a few layers of the crystals left. I gawk at the amount coming away from them.

I go to stand besides Nuria and Troy, who are still watching their encasing fall to the ground. I see Troy have a confused expression on his face. I watch him, as he stares at the first Geodra I smacked with the weapon. I see his eyes pupils dilate, which was unusual for a vampire who had not had human blood in a long time.

We stay there for a long time, eventually sitting down to watch the Geodras change. One by one their casting starts falling off, the leader eventually showing us their true form. A blue giant.

The largest one, who I’ve assumed is the leader, is a pale blue colour with navy blue patches on its body. It’s body itself was very similar to that of humans, except they were several times larger, and of course, blue. It had long black hair, all braded in a sleek fashion. It was wearing clothing, from what I can tell, that conformed of an animal skin and fur, neatly wrapped around their waist.

I see in the corner of my eye Troy becoming a bit fidgety. “Are you ok?” I ask him.

He snaps his head round to me and speaks, his fangs on show. “What are these?” He asks.

“They’re blue giants. They were cursed and now I have freed them.”

He looks back to them in awe, trying to calm his instincts down. I had a feeling this may be an issue so I best sort it out as soon as the leader speaks.

I see the last crystal fall from the leader’s torso and once it does, it looks down on itself, as if it’s just been brought back to life.

It raises its arms to inspect them, waving its big burly fingers in front of its eyes, which I could see were completely blue, without pupils. It then looked down towards its feet, as if it’s never seen them before. It raises its feet and wiggles the three toes it has. I see a smile widen across its face, its eyes looking up at me. It looks at its companions as they also start to unravel fully, looking at their natural bodies before turning to their leader with smiles across their faces.

It walks over to me and bends on one knee, bowing its head to me.

“We owe our lives to you, dear Goddess. Please, let me know what we can give to thank you.”

I think for a few moments, and only one thing comes to mind.

“First, please let me know your name. I do not want to have to refer to you as a Geodra, or well, a blue giant.”

It stays on its knee but looks to me. “My name is Xichanté. I am the leader of my small clan.” Xichanté then goes through the names of its friends, which become more complicated as she names them out.

“Thank you to you and your brethren, Xichanté, for helping us win this war, in more ways than one. Although I do not have a wish from you, I do have a request, if you and your fellow friends could think it over.”

The blue giant gives me a look which I assume is one of confusion. I look at Troy before looking back. Xichanté nods.

“If it is within our power, we will consider it.”

“Troy, come here, please.” I ask him, motioning for him to come next to me. I see Nuria sneak a confused look before her expression returns to normal.

Troy comes up beside me, looking slightly perplexed, his pupils going crazy as he nears the blue giants.

I look to Xichanté. “This is Troy, he is a vampire. Are you aware of this species, what they are?”

The blue giant eyes him suspiciously, but its reaction is one of unsureness.

“I have not come across them before. I recognise the scent, but apart from that, no, I am unsure. He looks similar to a human but smells very different.”

I nod my head. “Yes, they are, in a way, a very far variant of a human. From my understanding, they were cursed themselves by witches a thousand years ago.” I look to Troy who’s following and nodding confirming my knowledge of their history. “Like you, they were cursed. However, they are unable to reverse it, as the witch who cast it is long gone.”

Xichanté is following my story and is patiently waiting for me to continue. “Their diet, used to consist of human blood. Humans are now gone from the world, so they have survived on the blood of animals however this is the same as wolves eating grass with no meat for the rest of their lives.”

The blue giant looks at me and I see a hint of understanding in its eyes. It waits for me to finish.

“My ask, Xichanté, is that you and your group provide for the vampires, if your blood is compatible. They are not greedy and it’s completely consensual.” I pause a moment, figuring out if any objection is in the blue giant’s eyes, but I see none, so I continue. “If you are not willing to do this, then we will look at other opportunities, however this will be off-world, and I would rather they stay on their home planet, if it can be helped.”

The blue giant looks at Troy, then back to me. “I will need to discuss with my family. How many of them are there? Can they reproduce?”

I answer truthfully. “I believe there are around fifty of them left, after the battle, or at least on this side of our world. They cannot reproduce without humans, so no, what is left, is left.”

The giant stands. “Please allow us some time to talk it over. I will come back when we’ve made a decision.”

I nod my head, watching Xichanté walk back towards its group to discuss the request. I turn to Troy.

“I believe this is what you’re looking for, to fill the gap that the humans left in terms of food.” I say to him.

“How did you know?” He asks, interested.

I look at him and smile. “I can see it in your pupils. I don’t know too much about vampires, but I know when they’re close to humans and hungry, their pupils dilate rapidly. I’m surprised you have so much self-control.”

He scoffs slightly. “It’s extremely difficult being here, looking at them. But I wouldn’t do anything to wipe out our chance for happiness. I only want what’s best for my people.

I smile softly at him. I hear Nuria walk up to us. She looks at me with a raised eyebrow.

“Did you plant this?” She asks, suspicious.

I smirk at her and shrug my shoulders. “I had a hunch.” She nudges my shoulder with her own, and we all look at Xichanté who is striding back our way.

The blue giant stands in front of us, causing us to look up to see its face as it smiles down at us.

“We’d be more than happy to help the vampires, to repay your kindness to us who helped us break our curse.”
