Chapter Ninety-four: The summoning

I look around me and see everyone getting ready. I turn to Nuria.

“Do you need any help?” I ask her, seeing the bag of salt in her hand.

“No, there’s nothing you can do. I need to start a ritual. As I have the same blood as him, I need nothing of his.” She spat. “All I need to do is use the bracelet and I should be able to pull his physical body here. Then it’ll be on you.” She warns.

I nod, watching her as she sets things up to start. “As soon as he knows I’m bringing him here, I have no doubt he’ll bring his minions forth as well.” She pauses a moment, looking over at the lights surrounding everyone on the field and then back to me. “Could have told me you could do that.” She says referring to my powers being distributed.

I shrug my shoulders. “I didn’t know. It was all Athena. She’s been….hibernating because of it.”

She smirks. “Gods and Goddesses, typical.” I chuckle with her.

“Do you know what they can do with it?” She asks, curious.

“Athena?” I ask my wolf who stands ready in my mind.

“All I know is that our power can help them kill the dark creatures.” She responds and I repeat it to Nuria.

She thinks for a moment then shrugs it off. “Very well. You both should get ready as well.”

With the salt, she creates a circle with some runic like characters and stands in the middle of it. She then cuts her palm, causing a gash of blood to fall to the ground.

I hear her chanting something under her breath, but I’ve no idea what language it’s in. I see her pull out the bracelet from her pocket with the hand she’s bleeding from.

“I think it’s time we became one.” I say to Athena.

I bring her forth as I had previous times when training with Nuria, except this time I eased into it like it was no issue at all.

We raise our hand and I see we have a white glow. We look around us and see stares of awe in our direction.

A few moments after we merged, I look around and see little drops of water travelling over our head, towards each pack members and the others. I see that each person has a small handful of water just above their heads, floating there in mid-air.

I can feel Athena’s thoughts as she mentions to me that this must be our gift to them. The gift that can hurt the dark creatures. Our powers entwined with water.

We smile at the scene in front of us, knowing that we’ll have a slight advantage. We look back to Nuria who is now sitting on the ground with her legs crossed, chanting a bit louder, the bracelet in her hand.

It’s not long after that we feel the Earth shake.

“Be ready!” We shout to everyone behind us, hoping all can hear.

The ground below our feet starts to shake more violently, causing a bit of panic between the groups behind me. Athena and I stand our ground, hoping to inspire hope around us.

We see dark clouds rolling in from our East, signalling that Fedori knows we’re pulling him across. He’s sent his army.

Athena and I decide immediately that now was the time to unleash our first idea for a defence. We know that the creatures Fedori sent previously were weak against water, so we decide to create a force field. We doubt it will do too much, but it should give everyone a few minutes to prepare themselves after seeing what they’re up against.

We look to the lake and use our hands to bring up a wave of water and detach it from the lake itself, causing it to hover in the air. We then start to gently move and spread it over everyone here by waving our hands slowly up at the sky and around, as if we’re feeling the top of a globe. It starts covering us in a dome, shadowing over the massive clearing we’re currently in, making sure to cover each edge. It moves in a wave like fashion, and then as it starts to descend, looking like glistening rain over the domes radius.

When finished, we move our hands away. The barrier stays in place, Athena and I happy we’ve achieved it. We look back to Nuria who was still mid chant. We look up to the dark clouds which were just about covering us.

That’s when the first wave hit. We could feel a force against one area of the water barrier we just created and could tell it was already straining. We look towards the East side and feel eyes follow our direction, knowing already what was coming for us.

“East side!” We shout, our voices coming out in unison, loud and clear for all to hear in the barriers perimeter, as if the barrier was projecting our voice. No one would have been able to miss that message which we confirmed by seeing everyone look that way.

The darkness was now covering the whole sky above, leaving little light to be seen. Luckily, both werewolves and vampires could see in the night and the elves and witches had other alternatives to help them.

Athena and I look to our ranked members and comrades besides us. “Now is the time to shift.”

We can hear bones cracking and re-arranging themselves, everyone taking on our advice immediately. It’s not long before we have several hundred wolves on the defence around us.

We look to Nuria who looks to be straining as she continues chanting, slightly louder than before. We know not to interrupt her so we continue to stay close. We can’t leave her side until we know Fedori has been summoned.

A thwacking sound comes from the Eastern barrier and we can already tell that it’s starting to crumble. We receive a mind-link from one of the pack members, named Miron, out that way.

“Luna, they’re starting to push through the water, it’s not long before they get through…..We can see hundreds of them, Luna. Too many to count.”

“May the Goddess be with you, Miron. If your group starts to get overthrown, pull back if needed and let Markus know. We don’t know where we’ll be if that happens.”

Athena and I close of the connection, knowing full well that it will happen, but we didn’t want to instil fear into our packs hearts. We need everyone fighting to their full potential if we’re to survive this.

We feel a tear roll down our cheek knowing full well that this will be the last night for a lot of those here.

We shake it off, seeing a black gleam in front of Nuria. We turn to see the outline of what we believe is Fedori. We look to those surrounding Nuria.

“You all need to step back, now. Who knows what he’ll do when he’s pulled through. Protect the perimeter of Nuria, but do not enter.” We say in a command, and everyone around us obeys. I see Markus’ wolf Renze give us a curious look by cocking his head to one side, but he shrugs it off and moves a few meters out, following my command.

We feel the barrier on the East side break, and look over to it. There was blackness up against it, causing it to crack upwards. We see the water part as if it were a zip, the water then cascading up the way until it was at the top of the dome. Then the force field popped as if it were a bubble, causing rain to shimmer downwards, making everyone feel the droplets in the area.

We send a prayer to the Moon Goddess and turn to face the shape that is now forming in front of Nuria.

Athena and I wait patiently for Nuria to finish bringing Fedori to us. I close my eyes, taking a deep breath, knowing this isn’t going to be easy. This is do or die, and that involves everyone.

Nuria stands whilst still chanting, but steps out of the circle. As soon as she does, Fedori is then no longer a silhouette, but is instead here. We hear a few growls around us towards Fedori so we know that everyone can see him, and he looks at us with a smirk on his face.

“Oh, it’s about time you brought me here. Lukas, however, is on deaths door.”

We say nothing, but start prowling around him, trying to see what he’s got with him.

“Hmm, silent treatment I see.” He points to the East side already knowing what’s happening there. “You realise your warriors are dying.” Putting emphasis on warriors in a sarcastic tone, causing us to growl at him.

We continue to circle him, and we catch Nurias glance. We mouth to her to go, and she immediately understands, walking away to go open a portal that isn’t in her Fathers vicinity.

Fedori’s eyes are kept on us and ours on him. We stop on the opposite side that Nuria was on, hoping he hadn’t noticed that she was moving away. Our plan seems to have worked.

We saw in the distance Nuria dive through a portal, so relief runs through us knowing that our plan so far is going well. Our eyes cross Fedori’s as he has a wicked smile on his face.

“It’s about time we end this, don’t you thin? Bow down to me, let me take your power and be done with it. You can have your precious mate until the end of your days, which I will admit, won’t be long. Your precious parents, along with all those good for nothing deities will perish, along with all they have created.”

Athena and I smirk at him.

“No chance.”
