Chapter Thirty-four: The thief

A thousand and one questions run through my head, and all the emotions along with them. I continue staring at the Moon Goddess before me, trying to comprehend what she’s just told me.

I look at the Sun God who is watching me intently, possibly trying to see what my reaction would be.

How do I feel about this? I’m unsure. In a sense I’m finally glad to know who my real parents are, but the list of questions that followed are endless. As I try to slow my thoughts down, the deities in front of me speak up.

“Unfortunately we do not have time to dwell on the many, many questions you have, little love. We can only discuss a few.” Selene says, side glancing towards Helios. She then looks back to me.

“You were created from the love both the Sun God and I hold for each other. You are a one in a million, and could have been any one of our creations, however we both decided to create you as one of my direct beloveds, a Werewolf.
As you are…a deity of such yourself, it is not safe for you to be kept here, in the Kingdom of Eos. There are other Gods and Goddess’ that dwell here, and we are all banned to have children of our own….between ourselves.
I cannot go into detail as to why you were created, as it is against our laws to speak of it. We were forced to send you to one of the mortal realms, and the one you’re in currently best suits…you.”

I stood there, absolutely dumbfounded as she tells her my story, and I see a single tear roll from her eyes. The tear itself is like a sapphire, the water a deep blue.

The Sun God looked at the Moon Goddess and all I could see was the love he had for her in his eyes. He turned back to me.

“We had no choice, but to give you over to one of the worlds and somewhere we thought you’d feel safe. I took you down, then, after changing into one of my own creations forms, gave you over to what they call an orphanage. I tipped them of a family I approved of, and you had lived with them, up until my own creations killed themselves off.”

I could see a look of pain flit through his eyes as he said that. I feel sad to think that my family were killed because of others, but I don’t dwell on it as it feels like a lifetime ago and I’ve since come to terms with it.

“The other deities are aware of our meeting, and they know about you, and we’re all watching. The reason why no more like you have been created in a millennium is because one of the other Gods created what we call a devil, an evil being, created in union, similar to yourself. He’s so powerful that he has the ability to kill us himself.
He has already managed to kill his own creators, and has stolen their eternal powers. Much like ours is the Moon and water, the Sun and fire, theirs was what you call darkness and necromancy. He has visited your world, among many others, causing havoc and fear. He comes to find you, Aliana.”

I gasp slightly, not understanding why this evil being wants to find me. Before I answer, the Sun God speaks.

“Daughter, he comes for you as you are also very powerful. You’re starting to figure this out as a childling, but you are no ordinary werewolf. You have a set of gifts. You will find these out in time as even we cannot predict what these will be.

You must be wary. The evil one will come for you, he will sense your presence as your powers start to manifest. Your wolf, who has named herself Athena, was chosen by ourselves for you, but we could not give her to you until you had got close to your destined family. We removed her memories so she could experience everything with you. She and you are one when together.”

I just look at him, again, understanding why certain things have been done the way they have but I’m finding more and more questions populating in my head as we go along, and I furrow my brows in evident confusion.

The Moon Goddess smiles, certainly understanding that I am confused.

“I am sorry, my love. I wish we could provide you with everything to help you understand, but we’ve got limited time here ourselves. You must be wary of the evil that is about to come into your life. You were born from the brightest of us, and under no circumstances must you succumb to the darkness, that will try and lure you in.

You are strong and powerful, but you are also kind and level-headed. This is what we have seen whilst watching you on your path so far. I will be watching you forever my love, and I cannot wait until we meet again.”

“Will we meet again?” I ask, unsure if we will.

“Under different circumstances, yes. However, when this will be we cannot say, we leave this to the fates.”

The Sun God grabs my attention by continuing on from that.

“Soon, you will go back to your mortal body, and you will still be in the lake of the wolf territory. Tell the wolves of our warnings and that terror will soon come. Be ready. There will be those who do not believe you daughter, but you must make them.
Lukas is a strong Alpha….possibly one of the strongest in a long time that I have seen. Trust him, but be wary, as many generations of his family have been tainted by evil. Many others are easy targets for the evil one that will come. Keep watch daughter.”

I think for a second as I am aware that our time together is wearing out. “What is the evil one’s name?”

The deities look between each other very briefly, I think unsure they should be telling me this. The Sun God makes a move to speak. “I believe in current times and histories, his name is Fedori, although we have heard he may use other names.”

The Moon Goddess looks to the Sun God and back at me. “I have chosen Lukas for you specifically to be your blessed mate.” She smiles and I smile back at her, knowing she’s made the right choice and I bow my head to her.

Athena started to move towards the deities and I saw the Moon Goddess embrace her with outstretched arms.

“Thank you Mother, for choosing me. I love my other half and will protect her with my life.” I heard Athena whisper and all I could feel is a surge of overwhelming love for my wolf, who is the other half of me.

I walked over to all of them and the Moon Goddess opened her arms to me as well. I felt a bit cooler in her arms as she hugged me, and I could feel the water circling around her skin as well.

The Sun God also placed his hand on my shoulder, and I felt the heat coming from him.

I looked up at them both, who had smiles on their faces, looking between both me and Athena. Before I could ask more questions, I see a black light in the distance coming towards us slowly and I can feel my smile fall as I know it’s coming to take me away from the deities before me.

“It’s time for us to go Aliana. Remember everything we have told you. We will meet again. Be brave, and learn, learn about yourself and your powers. Who knows how much time is left before Erebus finds you.”

Athena and I move away from them both, knowing they need to leave by some other sort of method.

“Aliana. We will be watching. We cannot intervene where we want in the mortal worlds whilst he is around, it is out of our hands because of this. Good luck, we all rely on you.”

The Sun God moves towards the Moon Goddess and extends his hands to hers, and she goes to take it. AS they touch, I see what I can only describe as a black crystal form at the points where they touch, but it doesn’t spread. I see behind them the black light starting to devour all of the grass plains around, slowly encapsulating us. I then notice a bright light coming from my Mothers and Fathers hands where they were joined together, which starts to hurt my eyes that I have to scrunch them closed so I’m not blinded by it.

I feel a slight pull in the direction where Athena was and was unable to stop myself from moving towards her. Before I knew it, it felt like I was falling slightly.

I felt a small, sharp pain and as I did, I opened my eyes and I can immediately tell we’re under the water again.

“Aliana, are you ok?” Athena asks, and I can tell she’s back in my mind rather than in her own separate body.

“Yeah, I’m fine.” I go to swim about, but instead I look down and realise I’m naked, but back in my own body.

“I guess the Gods shifted me and put us back here, in the lake.”

I try to figure out where I am, and I can see what seems to be the surface above me.

Before I start swimming up the way I stop, realising something.

“Ali? What’s wrong?” Athena asks after a few moments, on alert, and I can feel she’s a bit panicked at my abrupt stop.

“Athena…..I’m breathing.”
