Chapter Ninety-five: Fight, Part 1
“That’s the wrong choice.” He spits at us, obviously displeased with our decision. We wonder if he actually was that delusional that we’d accept his offer.
He lifts up his hand as soon as we respond it and brings it crashing to the ground, crouching down as he goes, looking slightly irate. When his hand hits the ground, a shockwave is pushed outwards in a circle around us. Not something that’s strong enough to knock us over but certainly a shock to those who had no idea what was happening. We look over our shoulder to see the wolves who were close and unsuspecting knocked back with a lot of pressure.
We stay grounded where we are, but we feel worry for our pack as we notice it’s becoming hard to see through the barrier he’s created. There’s nothing we can do, knowing Fedori just encircled us in a pen with him. As we worry, the cage we’re stuck in turns to black, meaning we can no longer look outside. We look back over to him, keeping our face as straight as possible, even though we fear for our family and friends. There’s no way but forward now.
Fedori has an evil smile on, and we can see his disgusting teeth through the parting in his mouth. His chasm-like eyes are full of hatred towards us. He stands proudly in front of us, evidently pleased with the cage he’s got us in, probably thinking he’s cornered us. We, however, have an idea.
“Now I’ve got you here all to myself, you understand I am aware that my daughter is trying to save your mate?” He spits the last word out as if it burns his tongue to say so.
I say nothing and stand there, ready for any move he’s to make.
“They won’t get out of there alive. They don’t have you. You don’t realise how special you are, do you?”
He tuts before continuing. “You are a Goddess yourself, this you already know. You also know your immortal. But what you don’t know is that you are one of the most powerful, more powerful than some of the originals themselves. You are a child of two of the originals, something that should never have been allowed to happen. You probably have inherited the powers of both your Mother and Father, and then some, your own special mix as well. Too bad that you’ll never get to find them out, because I’ll be taking them and I’ll be using them to conquer this world, and the next, until I reach that damned kingdom of Eos to kill the Gods myself!”
At that moment we see Fedori raise his hand, a ball of darkness appearing in it, circling and spluttering. He then throws his hand our way, pointing it at us, a beam of darkness heading straight for us. Athena and I did the only thing we knew we could do. Shield ourselves using our greatest power. Water.
The water we gathered seems to have come from everywhere around us. Ourselves, the ground, the air. All the little particles being instantly pulled into the shield protecting us from the blast that he’s shooting our way. We look for something to stop the barrage of darkness being forced our way.
We use our free hand to do a pulling motion up from the ground and can see a hand made out of water grabbing his feet. We see him look down and grumble as he loses his balance, the beam hitting our shield starting to disintegrate as he loses his footing. We keep the shield placed neatly on our left arm, in case we needed it again.
The power emitting from his hand vanishes as he tries to gain control, but not before he falls on his arse. We stand up straight and he scrambles to stand up.
“Who’s the weak one now.” We say in unison.
He grunts and stands up, a hateful expression on his face. We glance around at our surroundings and the blackness is still covering us, not leaving much room for manoeuvring. We worry that touching the edge of the cage will harm us in some way.
We decide to charge him in the hopes to knock him down, not liking the barrier he’s got circling us.
We see him smirk just as we get to him, and he easily doges us. He’s much swifter than what we thought originally. We manage to stop ourselves just in time, as our nose comes too close for comfort to that barrier. We hear a humming at the edge, as if it’s electrifying. Well we’ve no doubt that it will hurt if we touch it.
We brush ourselves off whilst turning to face him again. He clasps his hands together and as he pulls them away from each other, he creates a sword made out of dark matter. The sword continues to grow until he unsheathes it, the length of the blade moving like molten lava but the colour of the darkest night sky.
He then stands there with the blade in two hands, as its length wouldn’t allow for one handed combat. His evil glare is now on us.
We decide that the best counter would be to use water, as it seems he’s weaker against it displayed by the fight we had with the dark creature on the last attack and the fact that our shield was able to reject his dark advances.
We keep our shield on our left arm, and create a spear made of water with our right. We hear Fedori exhale loudly, as if huffing, once our weapon of choice was in hand.
“Typical, weapons of the Sun God you’ve chosen. Not that I’m surprised. You show many of their traits already, although I doubt they’ve interacted with you much. Have they even told you why you weren’t with them when you were born, like every childling of either one or both of an original should be?”
We frown, not wanting his words to cause distraction.
He smirks. “Do you wonder why they’ve left their fate up to you? Why they aren’t joining us here?”
“I do not care, for I do not want for something I’ve never had, or never knew I had.” We respond to him.
He cocks his head to one side, looking at us amusingly. Without saying anything further, he wipes the smirk off his face and lunges at us, raising his sword and then thrashing it downwards. We raise our shield up and feel the sword thunder down on it, causing pain in our left arm. We thrust our spear forward which misses but on bringing it back, he seems to miscalculate his movements and we cut his side, causing him to hiss. We see the blood that drips out of him, it’s colour nothing but black.
“Hmm….It seems you’ve scratched me.” He clicks his tongue. “I can’t remember the last time someone drew blood from me. Maybe it was my Father as I tore him down.”
We scrunch our nose up at him openly admitting to murdering his parents.
“Why did you do that to the people who brought you into the world?” We ask curiously, still in a defensive stance.
“They were the ones who suggested to the originals to remove me from Eos. All I did was provide a path for various creations of theirs, along with the others a way to their freedom, a never ending darkness. They said that I should not be allowed this power and cast me out, turned me away when I was weak. They knew I wouldn’t be able to survive and would probably just send my body off to a sarcophagus to lie for eternity. But not me, I survived off of darkness which is hidden in every nook. I fought my way up, being here today. And today will be the day where I start my way back, consuming everything in my way.” He looks at us greedily and wraps around, swinging the sword as if he’s a spinning top. Just as we understand what’s going on, he starts to gain momentum and we look down at our shield, doubting that it would be able to take a beating like this with the amount of momentum he’s harbouring in his spinning attack.
He's closing in to us and we try and find a weak spot for our spear. We notice he’s spinning way too fast for us to get a clink in, so we make the quick decision that up is best, and bring together steps of water for us to climb, like a waterfall being created upwards. We start crouching as the ceiling of the barrier we were in was fast approaching, so we get as far up as possible and look down on him, causing him to stop and to look up at us, an evil gleam in his eyes.
Before we go to jump down or make any other move, we feel a surge of power go through us. We feel invincible, and we can see the fear in Fedori’s eyes, who looks as though he’s just remembered something important. We jump down and as Fedori is still reeling, we shove the spear forward. Fedori’s realises a second too late, trying to move out the way, when we pierce his arm, causing a heavier flow of blood to pour out. He looks at me but his lips flicker upwards, as if he knows somethings about to happen.
“The downfall of your Mother.” He starts. “Is that she paired you with a mate. She gave you a weakness.” He splutters, trying to hold his arm. We see a black gleam crawl across his palm and see the spear hole we just gave to him is closing up.
That’s when we feel a crack to the side of the dome, causing a thump to be heard.
