Chapter Ninety-seven: Fight, Part 3

We both look at our mate who’s just lying there, lifeless. I feel the tears soak my cheek but forget about them as I look up to Fedori who is still there, watching our reaction. I can see the surprise in his face as he looks between Athena and I, who are now un-merged.

Right as Athena and I start prowling, trying to lock onto his weak points, we hear loud stomps in the distance. I watch Fedori, not wanting to make another mistake costing anyone else’s life. I see Fedori’s face pale slightly as he looks in the direction of the noise.

Athena voice pops up in my mind. “It’s the Geodra.”

I smirk at him. He obviously wasn’t expecting that.

I take a quick glance whilst I know Athena is watching him. The Geodra are moving slowly, but they’re taking out the dark creatures without issues at all. That’s when I remembered something they told me.

“This is Obsidian. It is the rock of darkness. It can bring the dark one immense power…..it can also destroy him.”

I think back to before I met them where I had heard of this before. I then remember Sara’s words. It can be created when water is poured onto lava.

I look to Athena who nods her wolf head slightly, already knowing my plans. It seems we’re still connected as one even though our bodies are separated.

She starts to prowl around Fedori, closing in the circle whilst he’s still distracted. He keeps his eyes on my hands though.

“Think you can do much with those?” He says, unfaltering. I can sense that he’s slightly anxious though, especially since the Geodras have arrived.

My right hand is currently alight with fire, but I need to try and make it flow, like lava.

I look to Athena who understands I need a distraction whilst I try and figure it out. She starts to lunge at Fedori, his eyes turning to her.

“You’re useless without her, mutt.” He spits, leaping back whenever she lunges forward. He isn’t aware we’re still connected.

I concentrate hard on my left arm which is ablaze. I try to think about it oozing fire instead of burning with a flame. I can feel the texture on my skin change slightly, but not enough to change it from fire to lava.

I look at my right hand and see the stream of water, which in a way looks like flowing lava, but just the wrong element. I try to will my left arm and hand again, trying to visualise a flowing fire.

I look at Athena who continues to snap at Fedori’s feet.

“You can do it Aliana! Do it for Lukas and Ares! It’s the only way!” She mind-links me.

I look to Ares’ body just lying there. I feel all of the emotions run through me. My sadness causing my chest to heave. I can hear Athena’s whimpers as well.

I feel the anger build inside me as I watch Fedori fight off my wolf. He starts to create dark objects with his hands and I see dual swords appearing in both hands.

I feel the anger rise inside of me, but I know far too well that anger can lead to harsh consequences. Look at Fedori for example. I decide to put all of the anger into my left arm. I see the fire raging like it hasn’t before. I envision my arm becoming a river of never-ending lava, continuously burning like there’s no way to put it out, circling itself. I close my eyes and focus.

“Ali, it’s done. Get it over with!” Athena reaches to me, and I open my eyes and see the successful creation of lava swirling on my arm.

Fedori stops going for Athena and turns to me with a distasteful and hateful expression on his face.

I create a sword of lava and a spear with water and walk his way, each weapon by my side. Athena backs away and comes beside me, staying there by my side.

We see him slightly back away, as if he knows what’s to come.

“I can’t be killed!” He screeches.

“No, but you can be put away, for eternity. I’ll be sure to put you down and send you to the Gods. They’ll know what to do with you.” I say, knowing he can’t be killed but this is as close as he’ll get to it.

He creates his own shield using his dark powers, unbeknownst to him I have the exact thing I need to break it down. My eyes are taken away from him for a moment to glance at Athena who is waiting for my move.

He says nothing but just watches me, waiting for me to attack, so I do. I charge towards him, Athena next to me. He creates a sword he can wield with one hand. As we approach him, he takes a swipe at us, narrowly missing my side. Athena tries to help by gnashing at his feet when she gets a chance, but he seems too experienced in fighting and is able to easily evade her advances, as well as mine.

I start to lunge my spear towards him, whilst at the same time parrying his sword with my own. It seems we’re just butting heads just now and no weapon is stronger or weaker against the other.

We continue like this for some time, Athena continuing to snap at him, me constantly bombarding him with my blows which he’s easily parrying with his sword or blocking with his shield.

I try to take glances around me and I see so much death. The dark creatures are being crushed, but at what cost? I feel the sadness consume me as we continue on, fighting the maniac.

I look at Athena and she instantly knows what I’m requesting. She runs towards Nuria, who’s not too far in the distance. It’s not long before they both return.

Nuria stands a few meters away from us, causing Fedori to jump back to look at his daughter, not wanting to be taken out by me whilst she grabs his attention.

“It’s time to stop this Father. Your time is over.” She says calmly to him.

“You would take their side over mine, daughter? After the gifts I’ve given you?” He spits at her and I can see disgust in his eyes.

Nuria’s resolve is firm, and she stands her ground. “You’ve given me nothing. My Mother has given me everything I need. You are just the donor she never asked for.”

His eyes and body language speak volumes as he looks at her, saying nothing more. In an instant he starts to charge at her with the sword in hand, not even bothering to glance my way.

I feel a sort of rattle in my pocket. I can feel the power from the pouch that Eloise gave me a while back vibrate and a power I’m unable to understand revolves around me. I take this as fate and I take the extremely slim chance I have and I merge together the spear and the sword, causing a sizzle to occur as they clash, the two elements that are never meant to be together. It creates a beautiful spear made from obsidian, feeling both cool and hot in my hand as I hold it.

I raise my throwing hand with the spear pointing right at Fedori, and leap a few steps, throwing it like I would a javelin, putting all my might into the spear. The spear spirals right towards him, causing a thunderous sound as it whizzes through the air. As I stand there, I feel as if time slows down, just enough for me to watch it pierce him in the shoulder and it hurling him several feet till he smashes along the ground. I let go of the breath that I had been keeping in as I realise it was just a few inches before he would have hurt Nuria, his own daughter.

I see him look at me, his expression now one of fear. He looks to his wound but this one is one he cannot heal.

He shakes his head at me, looking up at the sky. He then looks to his daughter. “You’ve done this, stupid girl. One day, I’ll return no doubt. That’ll be the day where you’ll regret doing this.”

I look around us and I see the dark creatures start to diminish, disintegrating into the sky as if they were being torn into a thousand pieces….it is as if what was keeping them here has let go. I assume that they were part of Fedori himself, and now that his life is leaking out of him, his powers or control over them is gone.

I look up and see the dark barrier above also dissolves and flies away, as if it were ash in the wind. I then see the sky opening up and a light shining down onto me, encircling me.

“The Gods are calling you.” I hear Nuria call. “It’s up to you to go to them.”

I look up but decide the Gods can wait a few minutes. I look at Athena who walks up to my side. I place my hand on her snout and she nuzzles up to me. I notice she has blood stains all over her gorgeous white coat, but at this moment I don’t care about them, instead we both emanate sadness, which I’m not restraining from those around us as we both look over to our fallen mate.

I walk to him, his family and pack already surrounding him. They make way for Athena and I, where we drop to our knees at his side. I feel the tears return, sliding down my cheeks, and this time I let them fall. He’s gone, his beautiful black coat covered in his blood. Athena goes to snuggle under his snout whilst I embrace him, encircling my hands around his massive body as far as I can reach.

We both stay there, by his side. After a few minutes, I stand up, wiping the tears from my face. I look to Athena who nods slightly at me, standing up and walking to my side.
I look to Nuria. “I don’t know how long I’ll be. Look after them while I’m away.” I request and she nods. “Don’t leave or fulfil anything before I return, unless necessary.” I ask.
“Don’t worry, we’ll wait for you.” She looks over the field. “We’ll pick up what we can.”

I nod, grateful she’s taken the role of temporary leader. I look around me and see a lot of those close by have shifted and are already wearing temporary clothes. I see Melinda who is sobbing uncontrollably, and Markus who lets his tears fall to grieve his son. Loretta is by their side, on her knees in disbelief. I’m glad Nuria is ready to take over for now as I doubt they’d be able to think straight to take command. I think about Mandy in the bunker with Rochelle and how she probably doesn’t know yet.

I shake my head, wiping my face once again. I place my hand gently on Athena’s head and look to the sky.

“Bring me up.” Is all I whisper before I’m whisked away in a second, feeling the similar sensation when Nuria teleports me.
