Chapter One-hundred-and-seven: Story time
I stayed with Lukas for the rest of the day and overnight, him gradually coming out of his shell more and his responses improving. I could tell it would take a long time for him to fully recover mentally, but I, among others, would help him.
We hadn’t discussed what we had did during the time he was taken and I went away, we decided we’d discuss this in the morning. We just revelled in each other’s company, enjoying the conversation we had about what we had done before we parted.
Doctor Lowe came back in and removed the cannula that was inserted into his arms. All he had attached to him now was a few suckers on his chest, monitoring his heart beat.
We fell asleep in the early evening, knowing we’d be up early tomorrow for a busy day. I wake up first, finding I had basically slept on top of him with my arm and leg on his. I look at him as he has a large smile plastered over his face, a smile that looks legitimate rather than the ones he was putting on yesterday.
I look out the window and see the dawn rising. I remove myself from Lukas and roll off of the bed gently. I stand off the bed and stretch, my limbs feeling like they’ve not moved in a while. As I look out the window, I hear Lukas start to whimper.
I turn to him to see he’s started sweating instantly, causing me concern. I take the two steps back over to him and place my hand on his forehead. His temperature is fine but I can tell he’s having a nightmare. I shake him slightly, causing his eyes to open and he shoots right up, causing a strained sound to come from him from the sudden movement.
I stroke his hair which instantly calms him. He looks up at me.
“I…I had a nightmare. I’m sorry.” He starts. He looks at me standing. “Please don’t leave.” He begs which causes my heart to hurt.
“I’m not going anywhere Lukas. I was just stretching.” I say, calming him.
He keeps his eyes on my and they roam my body. I hear a deep growl come from his chest, causing me to smirk.
“There’ll be plenty of time for that later.” I suggest, making him pout. I chuckle.
His face turns serious. “You’ll have to tell me what happened whilst I was…away. I’ll need to call a meeting and from what you said last night, only a few know I’m alive?”
I nod. “That’s right. I wanted you to return without anyone’s knowledge, but more selfishly because I wanted you to myself before you were rushed and most likely overwhelmed. But we can’t hinder any longer as we have to hold a Moon funeral for our fallen in the battle. Their families are waiting, Lukas.” I say seriously.
“Very well. Once you’ve filled me in I can call the ranked members to a meeting.” He says with more confidence, like the Alpha I know he is.
I smile, nodding to indicate I’m with him. He sits up in the bed and gets comfortable. I sit down on the bed in front of him between his legs so we’re eye to eye.
“Tell me what happened after I was taken.”
I then go through what happened after the battle. Once I knew he had been taken, finding a weakness to the dark ones, holding the Moon ceremony for those who had fallen and then the months that followed where I became hollow.
I then told him how I decided to leave the pack to find allies we’d need to fight Fedori.
“So you discussed this with my Beta and Gamma?” Lukas says, thinking out loud. “And they approved of it?” He asks, questing.
I shake my head. “Never. They wanted me to stay there. But they knew I would have left with or without their approval.” I respond.
He looks at me but says nothing. Then I remember.
“You’ve also missed something really important.” I say to him. He shuffles a bit but is listening intently. I realise he has no idea and play with the idea of letting him find out himself.
“I won’t tell you.” I decide out loud. “But you need to speak to Mandy.” I say.
He huffs slightly. “I asked you to tell me everything!” He complains, but I shake my head and wag my finger.
“Not this. She will explain. You’ll understand.” I say adamantly, not giving anything away.
He sulks but nods in understanding. I leave it at that.
I then detail the plan I had made with the ranked members and how Elijah and Nuria had volunteered to go with me. I then go in detail on our travels which lasted a while, leaving the pack behind. I go through each person we met and spoke to while he listened to my story. I noticed his nose scrunched up every time I went into who we met and what they were.
“And everyone joined? With no ill intentions?” He asks, worried that they’ll be up to no good on pack lands.
“Yes, they joined us in peace, mostly because they didn’t want to be consumed by an evil God. Some joined us on conditions.” I add.
“Any of them taking you away from the pack?” He asks quickly after I finish.
“No, my love, nothing like that. In fact, most of the requests have been fulfilled before you woke up.” I say.
He nods in acceptance, but says nothing more, allowing me to carry on.
I tell him that I managed to mind-link Mandy from the distance I was which caused his jaw to drop quite literally. I then explain the meeting I had with the Geodra which set us on our way back to the pack with Nurias’ help. How we came back and the discussion I had with Hugo. Then summoning Fedori.
“That traitorous bastard!” He exclaims in regards to Hugo. “And he’s in the dungeon? I can’t wait to get my hands on him, this is all on him!” He shouts in rage and I feel the anger release from him.
Well, it’s not worse than fear.
I try to calm him down. “We can deal with Hugo later. He realised his mistake when he got his Father killed. He essentially helped us summon him which we would never have been able to do without him. But he deserves everything he gets.”
He sighs heavily then returns to listening. I detail the battle, the powers the Moon Goddess helped Athena and I with, and I continued to the point where he joined and scarified himself. He says nothing but continues to sit there.
“I saw you were in trouble. I felt it. I would never allow you to succumb to him.” He says, causing my lips to tremble remembering him falling before me.
“I will never need you to do that again.” I say to him sternly.
He gives me a look which would say otherwise and he smiles sweetly at me, and I at him.
“So what happened once you took him down?” He asks.
“I was summoned.” I say, then jump into what Zeus, Selene and Solaris said to me as he listens in awe. He looks stunned as I finish up telling him what happened when I returned.
“So you’re a Goddess? Like fully pledged?” he asks.
I nod. “I mean, I always was but I wasn’t welcome because of my mission.” I say, emphasizing on the word mission.
“Is that why I feel the constant need to bow to you?” He asks, and I laugh at his truthfulness.
“I believe so. In all honesty I wasn’t told much about being an approved Goddess. I guess I will learn more about it as it comes.” I respond honestly.
He smiles and I feel my knees go weak. I may be a Goddess in the flesh but that doesn’t stop me from falling before the man before me.
He pulls me towards him and turns me in an instant, his warm chest on my back. He inhales my scent through my hair. I enjoy being close to him and feeling his chest rise and fall, breathing.
We hear the door opening and he holds onto me tighter, not wanting me to move, so I don’t try to. Doctor Lowe enters the room and raises an eyebrow at our positioning but says nothing, knowing Lukas will disagree with anything she says, as he has all night whenever she’s come in.
She looks at the monitor and then down to her clipboard. She smiles and looks at the Alpha and I.
“I think we’re good to go, Alpha, Luna. You’re free to leave when you wish.” She says and I smile at her.
“Thank you, Doctor. I really appreciate it, and I appreciate you keeping it quiet. I’ve no doubt we’ll get bombarded soon enough.” I say with a chuckle.
She smirks. “Good luck to both of you.” She looks to Lukas. “Alpha, you will need to take it easy for the next week or so. If you have any complaints at all, please reach out to me. Don’t leave anything, even a small pain, as I have no idea what could have been put into your body when you were…away.” She says as a warning.
“Thank you, Doctor.” He responds, a bit comelier. I feel gleeful just knowing he’s already being more positive.
She smiles and nods, leaving the room and closing the door.
I stand up and he starts to move too, shuffling off of the bed. I move over to the cabinet and pull out some clothes for him to put on so he’s not in the hospital gown. He pulls off the suckers attached to his chest and stands.
I can tell he’s still pretty weak, and he’s lost a lot of weight. But he’s still muscly and manages to become steady as he stands. He stretches his arms and flexes his biceps, making me giggle.
He stretches his legs as if he’s not used them in a while and walks over to me, a bit off balance. He manages to regain his composure after a few walking laps around the room.
I pass him over his clothes after his short display and he puts them on with ease.
“It’s time to start a meeting.” He says with a serious face, his eyes turning to black as he starts a mind-link.
