Chapter One-hundred-and-six: My life
“Luna?” Elder Wyatt asks, his voice cracking as he does. I’m surprised that he’s surprised. I didn’t think I could surprise him.
I smile. “I left out one small detail. For a reward, I was granted one wish. What else would I wish for?” I say looking at him sternly.
“Alpha Lukas is resting. I will not have anyone else disturb him until he is back to good health. Do you understand?” I more or less command, causing them to bow their heads to me, which I feel slight shame for.
“Yes, Luna. Does anyone else know?” Elder Wyatt asks.
“Apart from Markus, Nuria and Doctor Lowe, no. And I want to keep it that way until he announces himself.”
All three of them nod and I see secret smiles on each of their lips, but we say no more.
I stand up and bow my heads to them out of respect, but I then head to the door. I can tell none of them are following me, and are probably still in shock. Nuria stands up and follows me to the door, where I leave and she closes it behind her.
“Do you think I was too harsh? I ask. She shakes her head.
“Not at all. Maybe they’ll be even more humble?” She says whilst chuckling, and I along with her.
Nuria raises her hand out. “I’ll get there quicker.” She says, and I waste no time. I take it and she opens a portal, whisking us away. We exit on the other side and I completely ignore my stomach doing a flip as I race up the stairs. She stops, causing me to turn.
“I will respect your privacy.” She says. I nod, smiling and thanking her for it. She opens a portal and jumps through, leaving me in front of the hospital.
I turn and head up the steps, going through the doors. Doctor Lowe sees me and waves me over.
“Hello, Luna. The Alpha wasn’t fully awake when I was last with him, but I’ve no doubt he’ll wake up soon. I’ll be popping up in a few minutes to do some tests when he’s awake.” She says with a smile.
“Thank you, Doctor. I also appreciate keeping this on the low down whilst I wait for him…..I am selfish, you’ll no doubt think. I wanted to have him for myself before he got mobbed.”
She smiles and says nothing, gesturing for me to head up to see him, which I do right away.
I reach his room, and take a deep breath before walking through the door which had been closed. I close the door behind me softly, not wanting to wake him up unexpectedly.
“Hello little one.”
I feel the tears brimming my eyes, missing his sweet voice. His scent fills the room and Athena goes wild in my mind. I turn and look too him, with his megawatt smile on his face, his eyes firmly on mine. I see his eyes reel over my hair and I can tell they’re flicking between my blue and golden irises, curiosity covering his expression.
I walk towards him and I can see him try to move, but I move my hand onto his arm, ushering him not to. I feel the sparks rush up my arm, stronger than ever. I can see him visibly relax, looking up at me.
“Don’t move. Doctor Lowe will be up soon to do some tests. She wants to make sure you’re on your way to a full recovery.” I say to him, wanting him to relax and not damage anything.
He sighs but nods. He keeps his eyes on me. He shuffles over slightly and winces, and I look at him concerned. He pats the small space next to him and I oblige without hesitation. I cuddle into him, making sure to avoid the mess of wires attached to his arms and his chest.
“I’ve missed you, Aliana. Oh Goddess how I’ve missed you.” He says softly as he nuzzles into my neck.
“How are you feeling?” I finally ask, hoping he’s feeling better than we last exchanged words.
“I’m not doing too bad. A bit thirsty if I’m honest.” He responds.
I make a move to stand up, but he grasps onto my wrist, not wanting me to go. I sigh softly but stay there, knowing I’ll have to get up in a few moments anyway when the Doctor comes in.
We stay there for several minutes, just enjoying each other’s company again. I decide to bring up a decision I’ve been thinking over for a while. I move slightly and look up to him.
“I have a new name, Lukas. I wanted you to hear it first. I want to know your opinion on it.” I say dubiously, unsure how he’d feel about my name changing.
As if he senses my hesitation, he waits patiently with a smile on his face.
“The name my Mother and Father gave to me is Sarelias.”
“Sarelias….Sarelias…” he says, rolling my Goddess name on his tongue. I can tell he’s thinking about it, but he looks at me with a smile.
“I like it. It suits you…..the new you, I suppose with that look.” He says with a slight chuckle.
Just as I go to ask him what he thinks of my new looks, Doctor Lowe walks in.
She frowns, visibly displeased with me sharing his bed space with all the cables around him. She tuts.
“Luna, please can you vacate the bed whilst I run some tests on Alpha Lukas?” She requests and I go to move, but I hear a deep growl come from Lukas’ chest.
I roll my eyes and she gives me a pleading look. I know it’s merely to check him over and I’d be in the way if I were to stay here.
I turn to him and see him calm down. “I will be right there.” I say, pointing at the chair right next to the bed.
Lukas looks anxious, which worries me as he doesn’t usually look anxious. I fear that he has lost confidence, whatever it was Fedori was doing to him.
He looks in my eyes, as if searching my soul. I smile at him, hoping he caves in, which he does with a defeated nod. He keeps watching me like a hawk though as I stand up off the bed and walk around to the chair besides him.
“Thank you Luna. Now, Alpha, I hope you don’t mind if I run some tests on you to make sure you’re healing up nicely?”
“Go ahead, Doctor Lowe. Do what you need.” He says without taking his eyes off of me.
I feel pain run through him. And fear. I can’t help but frown which he notices but I smile at him like it’s nothing. I worry that he’s been taken to a place that he can’t come back from. But I swear to myself that I won’t give up on him. We’ll get through it together.
I watch as Doctor Lowe takes his blood into three separate vials, and she checks his vitals and then looks at the graphs that have been produced from the monitors. She looks down at her clipboard and then over to Lukas.
“Well Alpha, it looks like your body is doing what it’s supposed to and is healing at a good rate. I have no doubt you’ll be ready to leave tomorrow morning.” She says smiling.
“Thank you, Doctor. You may leave.” Lukas responds deadpan.
Doctor Lowe bows her head and looks at me, her expression a bit unsure. I can tell she’s referring to the Alphas emotionless responses. So I take note and nod to her, smiling. She leaves and closes the door gently behind her.
Lukas looks back to me and I to him. He continues to marvel in my new looks, but the smile he has on doesn’t touch his eyes. Athena and I have alarm bells ringing in our minds.
I decide to just push through, wanting to open up about it.
“Lukas, you’re being very….I don’t know how to say. You’re being very direct. What’s wrong?” I say, trying not to come across as worried.
He sighs. “I’m sorry little one. I just see him. Everywhere. He tortured me and the others every day. We had no rest.” I feel the fear on him as he remembers. I feel my heart clench in pain as he does as I feel the fear pour off of him. “We can already tell my body is recovering quickly with my faster healing, my mind is….not. Just…just stay with me, that’s all I need.” He says, his voice breaking.
I lean over the side of the bed and place my head on his chest, just listening to his heart which started accelerating as soon as I did. He moves his hand and starts stroking my hair, like he used to before.
“Do you like it?” I ask bringing my head up to see his reaction.
He looks confused. “Do I like what?” He asks.
I look at him and realise he’s not being sarcastic. “My new…look?” I say.
He smiles. “I love you. Your hair and eyes are a part of you, so of course I do. No change will ever stop me from being yours, or you mine. We are each other’s destiny.”
I move my head back down and he continues to stroke it.
This man was my life.
