Chapter Sixty: Bloodlines

Elijah raises his eyebrow at me, so I answer his unasked question.

“I found a book here that no one was able to open before me, it seems to be a book naming each of the children of Eos, which from what I understand is a book naming each of the children who are borne from a God or Goddess. I was able to read some of it but I believe the earlier pages on it are in high elven, but I’m not entirely sure. Can you take a look to see if you can understand any of it?

He looks at me apprehensively. “This isn’t going to cause any trouble is it?” He asks eyeing Lukas’ response.

Lukas waves his hand. “Aliana has as much power here as I do. If she wants help with it then it’s ok by me.”

Elijah looks back at me and nods his head. “I’m happy to help. I can try and see what it says. Although I should say my high elven is rusty, to the dismay of Elder Liandor.”

I bring forward my backpack, pulling the book out gently, which causes everyone around our table to gawk at it, unsure what to think.

I open up and flip through the first couple of pages. “These I assume are way before our time, being just symbols that I’ve never seen before.” I continue to flip through until I find more understandable characters, and I turn the book round slightly to allow Elijah to view to see if anything stands out.

We go through what seems to be a couple of names until we reach one where he motions for me to stop so he can take a good look.

“This one here says that the child named Eirene was a child of peace.” He reads over the page. “It shows her birth which seems to be a few thousand years ago, along with her parents’ names……who are Zeus and Themis.” He stops and looks up at me. “What is this Aliana?”

I look him in the eye and decide now is probably the time to come clean about where I’m from.

“Elijah. There’s a lot more to it but I found and have spoken to my true parents. Turns out I am a child of the Moon Goddess Selene and the Sun God Solaris.”

He squints his eyes, not sure if I mean that differently. “I mean, we’re all children of the Gods.”

I shake my head at him. “No, I mean I am their direct child.”

He gasps slightly, still confused. “What does that mean? How does that work?”

The others around the table haven’t heard the full story as they weren’t invited to the meetings Lukas and I had with the Elders. I decide to dive into what happened at the bottom of the lake with them all and by the end, when I’m done, they all have their mouths hung open, in complete shock at what has happened.

“You’re a child of not one, but two Gods and you’ve only just told me?” Elijah asks.

I furrow my brows at him. “I mean, like I‘ve just explained, I’ve only recently found out myself Elijah.”

He wipes his hands over his face, rubbing a bit vigorously. He removes his hands, then looks back at the book and starts going through a few pages. He reads out a few more names, then gets to Nuria, the name that is listed before my own.

“Nuria….this one seems to have been born a century before you. The strange thing is, she’s listed as having a mortal Mother, but her Father is Scotus….Scotus, if my memory serves well, from my elven teachings, goes by a few different names, one of which is Erebus…..which is one of the names on one of the earlier pages but one where the symbols were a bit strange.”

I look at him to try and understand what he’s implying. “Wait, so she’s in that book as a child of the Gods, but she’s a child of a child of a God?”

He nods. “That’s what it looks like.” He says, looking at mean. “Surely that means that you are…”

I put my hand up to him, not wanting to delve into it. A few months ago I was a mere human, then I found out I was a werewolf and now this. I’ve never felt special in my life and I appreciate the Moon Goddess and Sun God giving me more information but this seems a bit much.

The others around the table are all silent, and I gather that they want to dive in to find more but I don’t want to fry my brain trying to figure out if this makes me a Goddess or if I’m simply a werewolf. I decide to go back to the name before mine.

“Are you able to make out much more for Nuria? I couldn’t understand some parts.”

He looks back down at the book, scanning the pages that fall under her name. After a few moments of us all anxiously watching him, he points to certain parts under her name. “This says that she was the daughter of a mortal woman whom has not been named, at least in the book. This mortal woman however seemed to poses some special power to disappear…or make objects disappear….or go invisible, I’m not entirely sure of the translation, but it does say that it was in her bloodline. Anyway, from what this book says, Nuria has the ability to teleport, and that she can teleport anywhere. The last note here says that she last teleported out of the Kingdom of Eos, to find her Father, and I quote ‘Bring down the darkness that will try and reign over all’.”

We all look at each other a bit dumbfounded at those last words. I frown, feeling like I have more questions than answers, but I’m glad I’ve heard more about these other children of the Gods.

Elijah closes the book and slides it back over to me. “I’m glad I could help, but I think you’ve got a lot more on your plate then you bargained for. Let me know if you need a hand with it or anything else.”

I nod my head, slightly disappointed that we’re back to square one on what to try and do next. I pop the book back into my bag and zip it up. I feel defeated, fearing the same fate will happen to my pack that had happened to the Druida community.

As if reading my mind, Lukas pulls me in for a side hug. “Don’t worry little one, we’ll figure it out. We just need to dig deep.”

I nod, still feeling beat. We stand up, all our plates already cleared and we head for the exit. On our way out, We see Hugo with a few other pack members. I notice Hugo scowl at Loretta and Elijah who are arm in arm, smiling at one another. Lukas sees Hugo’s expression and sends him a warning growl. He looks to Lukas and then turns his face, heading in the other direction with the others he was with in tow.

I look to Luas with a hint of worry and he shakes his head slightly, mouthing ‘later’ to me. I look to Loretta and Elijah who didn’t even notice Hugo at all, which makes me feel slightly better that he’s not going to ruin their day.

“We should do this more often. I think it’s time I started maybe exploring the pack a bit more so I can meet more of them, rather than waiting for formal events.” I say, hoping to take everyone’s mind off of things.

“There’s a ladies’ night every Thursday down in the open hall which is just a ten-minute walk from the Dome. A lot of the packs females go there to just chat and chill out. I don’t go every week but I can make time from my busy schedule so we can go together? What do you say Lottie, do you want to come as well?”

I smile and see Lukas roll his eyes at his sister. “I’d love to come! Just come grab me beforehand and we can head over.”

She gives me a thumbs up and then grabs Nolan’s hand slightly startling him who’s mind was wondering elsewhere. “We’re heading over to Nolan’s parents’ house, we’ll see you all later!” Mandy says, tugging at Nolan who gives us an apologetic smile and heads off with her.

“See you all later!”

I look to Loretta who looks to Elijah quickly, blushes, then looks back at her brother and I. “I’m going to show Elijah a bit more of the pack. We’ll see you later?”

I smile at them, unable to contain my happiness at them both. “Yeah, enjoy yourselves!”

Elijah waves at us both before Loretta takes his hand and pulls him away with her.

“Seems like my sisters’ love dragging their mates around.” Lukas looks to me and says with a hesitant chuckle, and I can’t help but take his hand and start to drag him towards the one thing I want to spend some time doing.

He huffs and I can’t help but give him a laugh which turns his frown upside down. “I really want to get a start in the library if that’s ok. I want to see if there’s anything I can find on Nuria or Erebus. Isn’t it strange that she mentions looking for her Father and then the book quoted her bringing down darkness?”

Lukas takes a moment to think it over. “You’re right. But it’s difficult to tell if the book denotes that her Father is the darkness or if he knows something about it.” He looks at me, and forms an ‘O’ with his mouth, understanding the connection I’m trying to make. “You think that there’s something here related to the dark elf, Fedori, right?”

I nod as we continue walking. “Yes, and if we find anything on them, I suspect that we may end up finding something on Fedori.”

He smiles and places a kiss on my forehead. “You’re so smart. My smart Luna.” I feel my cheeks redden at his words, Athena purring in the back of my mind.

We get to the Library and up the stairs going past the huge columns that hold the front of the building up. I stop before going in once again admiring the beauty of the building.

“You know, one of the werewolf kings of old built this. It was meant as a sanctuary for his mate, his Queen. She loved reading. Or at least that’s what my Father told me.”

“Even if it was a fraction of truth, it’s still beautiful. It’s a lovely building. Back where I was, living with my human parents, there were similar buildings like this. I don’t think they were as old as this one, but still just as breath taking. I used to love going to the library when I was young and just put my nose into a good book. I would sit for hours just reading, anything and everything.” I respond, and I can see a grin forming on his face. I realise I probably haven’t told him much of my childhood, and I hope to change that in the future. But for now, we’re on our own mission.

We push the heavy doors and head into the Library. We start walking towards the restricted area when I see a young looking woman, with her black sleek hair tied up into a ponytail. I’ve not seen her around before and I hear Lukas clears his voice which immediately causes her to drop the book she was about to place back into the bookshelf and look our way.

“Hello Alpha.” She says, dropping her gaze to her feet. “Hello Luna.” She says in a really small voice.

“Hello Sara.”
