Chapter 42
Rebecca can not go after the man if she will cross the borders. She will be disqualified from the race. And she has to win this race. But it was strange! Who was that man? She shrugged her shoulders took a deep breath then climbed up the cliff.
"I will win this race at any cost," She thought with determination. She has to show them, that she is not so weak. She saw the other participants reaching the cliff. So, without thinking anymore, she ran back towards the pack. Rebecca felt a stare at her back, but it was not time to look back. So, she just focused on her goal.
"Rebecca was unable to see the person who pushed her, but she doesn't care about it. She knows she can still win the race." After running back, she crossed two people. One is Zach, the other one is a she-wolf, her name is Penelope. As her father said, she is the fastest, and he was right, she was the first one to cross the finish line. A proud look came upon her face. The other two also reached the finish line. Zach came in second place and Penelope in this... Rebecca can see it in her eyes. She is mad about something. All of them waited until everyone arrived.
They announced the winner. Rebecca was smiling, she looked happy. All of the people were congratulating her and praising her...
"Rebecca, I am proud of you! It was a great run." Zach said.
"Thank you! Zach, Yes, it was amazing. Congratulations to you too!" She said cheerfully.
"Congratulation, Alpha." A sweet voice said. It was Penelope. She completely ignored Rebecca.
"Thank you, Penelope. You also did good, congratulations." Zach said with a genuine smile.
"Yes, you were also good, Penelops, congratulations," Rebecca said.
"Alpha, come here..." Someone called Zach. So he excused himself.
"So happy aren't you? What do you think of yourself?" Penelope snarled near her face.
"What?" Rebecca is clueless about her behaviour.
"From the day you came into our pack, it is not the same at all. I don't know why you are here but now leave our pack. AND leave Zach alone." Penelope growled near her ear.
"Zach is my friend. This pack is my home too! Half of the territory belongs to my father, so don't give me this behaviour." Rebecca defended her, she can not tolerate this behaviour. Penelope gets closer to her ear.
"You don't know the truth yet! Or you pretend to forget it all?" She whispered. Rebecca again was unaware, what is she talking about?
"I don't understand what are you talking about?" Rebecca asked. Penelope huffed then looked at her from head to toe.
"I wonder, how are you not injured. I am sure I pushed you very hard from that cliff." She said. AND Rebecca's eyes widen with shock.
"Why would you do that? What have I done to you?" Rebecca asked in shock.
"Just go back to your pack or wherever you come from, and stay away from Zach!" Penelope warned then left her alone. Rebecca was frozen at her place.
'Why would she do this with her? What is going on? What is the truth that Rebecca doesn't know about!' The questions gathered in her head. After celebrating her winning with some of the pack members.
Rebecca came back home. She is exhausted. She came into the little sitting area of her house. Her father is sitting on the sofa drinking coffee. She plopped beside her father, put her head on the backrest then closed her eyes.
"My daughter looks tired?" Jacob said. She opened her eyes. A smile came upon her face.
"Yes, dad, I am tired, how was your day? Where is mom?" She asked.
"My day pretty fine. Your mom has to go to the hospital. It was some emergency." He informed her, and she nodded her head.
"How did your race go?" Jacob asked her daughter.
"Dad, I won, it was nice a run," Rebecca said. But there was no happiness or excitement in her tone. AND Jacob noticed it. He turn towards her and then grabbed her hands.
"Rebecca, what is it bothering you?" He questioned. She knows her father will understand, she has to share this burden with him.
So, Rebecca starts telling him from start to end what happened with her today, she is so confused and shocked. After telling everything to her father, she looked at his face.
"Rebecca, have you seen the face of that hooded man?" He questioned. She shook her head in a No manner.
"No, Dad, he was wearing a mask, but..." She said.
"But, what?" Her fathered looked stirred.
"But I felt as the man knew me..." It came out of her mouth. Jacob hummed.
"Dad, I think Penelope is right at some point. Why can't we go back? We do have our pack? AND I miss home so much! I miss my friends. All that happened was in the past. They have selected a new Alpha. So, there shouldn't be any problems now... Please, let's go back." Rebecca pleaded. She felt the grip of her father's hands loosen on her hands.
"Dad!" She called him.
"Rebecca, I know it is very difficult for you to adjust here. AND I know some people will give you a tough time. But this is our life now... I already told you, we can not go back to Royal Moon Pack." Jacob said. The sadness in his tone made Rebecca think, that he also miss the pack.
"Dad, don't you miss home?" She asked. A smile came upon Jacob's face.
"Rebecca, I don't miss the pack. But I can understand why you miss your pack so much!" He said.
"Rebecca, sometimes, it's better to leave your past. Don't take much stress. I want you to be happy. AND this is why we are here. Royal Moon Pack is not our pack now... We are safe and happy here." Jacob said then took a deep sigh!
Jacob knows Rebecca will not buy any excuses after some more time. He doesn't miss the pack because he left it a long time ago... But Rebecca, her story is different. AND once she will remember everything, she will not sit quietly.
Jacob knows that day will also come soon... But for now, it is better to keep everything to himself. He will tell Rebecca everything when she will be ready to hear it all. It is important for her to remember everything by herself, he can not help Rebecca because it's an order. Jacob took a deep sigh and then look at his daughter.
"Okay, dad, I trust you!" She smiled. He kissed her forehead.
"What do you want for dinner?" Rebecca asked.
"I have the mood to cook some pasta..." She said. Her mood was lifted. The smile came back upon her lips.
"Sure!" Jacob said. She got up and then went towards the kitchen. The window and the backdoor of the kitchen were open. A cold wind blows in and she again felt the same sensation with it. The stare on herself...
'What is this feeling?" She thought then looked outside. But it was so quiet. No one was there, she shrugged her shoulders, closed the back door and start cooking the pasta.
