Chapter 14 - Homeless
Alice shook her head; she was used to it. Suddenly being worried by someone else suddenly gave her a feeling of being flattered.
This feeling made her a little uncomfortable.
Back in the ward, Susan insisted on taking care of her for the night. Alice could only gently coax her back, and when the nurse came to check on her and saw that she was still there, she immediately coaxed her out.
Only after Susan left did she breathe a sigh of relief, look at the nurse and say, "I want to go through the discharge procedures now."
"Now?" The nurse wrinkled her brows and looked at the time, slightly embarrassed, "It's almost ten o'clock now, the doctors and nurses are all off duty."
"I want to leave." She insisted, "I still have important things to do, and I'm afraid I won't feel safe until I die if I don't finish them."
The nurse still looked at her with difficulty, and Alice said, "If you don't agree, I will jump from here immediately."
She pushed her to death, but the nurse agreed. She took her to check out of the hospital, and only when she saw the medical records did she remember and advise, "Miss Tang, if you want to survive now, you'd better not have this baby first."
"I'll think about it." She signed her name before looking steadily at the nurse.
The doctor on duty also came over and took a look at the discharge slip before saying, "Miss Tang."
"I want to know, do I have to abort this baby now?" She asked suddenly.
Her hand brushed her stomach, as if she could hear the screams of the child that had yet to be born.
This was the only thing Tony had left for himself, and it was the only thing he had left to hold on to; life was already insignificant compared to it.
That doctor explained, "Miss Tang is now in the late stages of symptoms and has missed the best time for treatment, so it's best not to."
"What will happen if I want it?" She wanted to take a gamble.
The doctor didn't hesitate and said the worst possible outcome, "The human fetus will die. The fetus needs normal intake of nutrients, and your body is gradually decaying, your own nutrients are no longer supplied, if the fetus is taken away, you will also soon be dead and will not live to give birth."
Hearing the answer, the last shred of luck in Alice's heart was just dashed, and she smiled and nodded her head. She left the place in a panic, not even packing her things, and left the hospital in a hospital gown.
She didn't have many days left, so the time she had left alive was all the more precious.
The car went from one street to the other in an instant, and she held back the sadness in her heart as she pushed the accelerator to the floor.
When she reached the company, she hit the emergency brake straight away. Sobering herself up quite a bit because of the inertia.
Looking back at the building, she then got out of the car and walked briskly to the office. The letter of resignation was already in the file on the computer and she called the HR office directly.
When she lied that she had got Tony's approval and asked them to sign it, they readily agreed to come down.
There were not many people left on duty in the building, a few in each department, so it wasn't too cold.
The letter of resignation was signed before she went to prepare her things to leave the premises.
The things on the desk were scavenged in a general way into a box and then carried away.
When she got out of the lift, she saw Richard coming, his face not looking too good, and he was walking towards her.
Alice did not want to see him, so she hurried to the side and hid.
She was relieved that the latter didn't notice her either, and she emerged from the darkness. She couldn't go home now, nor to the hospital, and she couldn't stay at the office.
It was only now that she realized that she hadn't had a place to call her own for the past twenty years.
After getting into the car, her things were thrown into a pile in the back. And only after that, she carefully called Susan's phone.
She couldn't stay silent and took the initiative to speak, "This is Alice."
There was something strange there, "What's wrong?"
……
She looked ahead and asked, "Can I come to your place and borrow a room for the night, I ...... don't have anywhere to go."
"Come over, come over and talk about what's going on." Susan also paused for a moment and didn't pursue the question any further.
Only after receiving consent did she drive over. She had already rested during the day, and now she felt a lot better with this wind blowing.
The road was not far, so she arrived in no time. Susan was already waiting for her in her pajamas, and when she saw her coming, she immediately opened the door for her.
The room was filled with the mood of a small girl, and after she took a look at it and moved back, Susan was already holding a bowl of vegetarian noodles in front of her.
Alice was slightly stunned, and her eyes were already red at the corners. Susan pulled her to sit down, and seeing that she was still in her sick clothes, she frowned slightly, "Why are you out."
"I'm not used to staying."
Susan handed her chopsticks over and she lowered her head and ate two bites before eating it all in one gulp.
Susan duly handed over the paper towel again, she propped her head up and looked at the man in front of her like a hungry wolf, finishing the noodles and hating to lick the bowl again.
"There's still some in the pot, do you want to eat it?" She asked again.
Alice nodded and wasn't polite. She took the bowl herself and went to serve some over.
