Chapter 27 - Results

DNA
The DNA test results came out, and Edward informed Susan first, although he knew the results from the beginning, but Susan still wanted more definite proof.
The two of them looked at the results and found that Kathy's genes only matched half of Alice's and none of Janet's. The results were obvious.
It was obvious that Kathy was not Janet's biological daughter.
"What should we do, should we talk to her?" Edward looked at the person next to him.
Susan sulked and took the list and rushed off to the ward. Alice was a little surprised to see her come over at this time, but then watched as she hurriedly handed the sheet over.
Alice took a puzzled look at it, and then her face changed.
Susan explained: "According to our findings, you are the daughter of Janet and not the daughter of that surrogate aunt. We did a genetic comparison and your genes and Janet's are a ninety percent match or more."
Alice looked at the results on it, and her hand holding the report sheet couldn't help but tremble, she hadn't thought the results would really be like this either.
Thinking back on all these years, Janet feelings for herself were really thin.
Susan stood to the side and could see that she was struggling in her mind.
"You want the accountability choice, we will all respect you."
Alice closed her eyes and set the paper aside.
"How many people know so far." Alice was unusually calm.
Susan counted them, naming them all.
"That's it, then." She leaned back, the piece of paper didn't matter much anymore.
It didn't make any difference whether the result on it was there or not. She was about to die anyway, it didn't matter anymore if the answer was known or not.
……
Susan was a little uncomfortable, "This thing ......"
"I want to leave." She raised her head to look at the person in front of her, "It's the last time, I don't want to have to get too much more."
Susan was stunned as she looked at the person in front of her, suddenly realizing that she didn't recognize her either. Looking at the calm look, she couldn't help but agree to her request herself.
Alice gave up, not wanting to struggle in this world anymore. She was ready to live out the rest of her life in peace and quiet.
Edward also began to fall silent as he listened to this decision.
Susan sat in her chair and looked at the window in deep silence.
The truth of the matter was harsh, and even though the moment it was determined, the next course was decided, she was still a little unforgiving.
It would be too unfair to Alice.
Even if she told them the results now, no one would believe that Alice and Kathy had swapped identities more than twenty years ago.
The test would only be dismissed as a fake.
Alice knew in her heart that Janet would not recognize herself, and it would be unbearable for anyone to correct her daughter, who had been mistaken for more than 20 years, in an instant.
How was she going to make herself feel when the person she had loathed for years turned out to be her own daughter.
So, without giving everyone a hard time, she chose to leave and let them all rot in their stomachs with this truth.
Susan told Richard the whole story, and the latter was surprised for a moment, but calmed down again.
After a while, she couldn't help but ask, "What does she mean?"
"Probably to leave, she doesn't want to continue to dwell on it."
Richard was silent, "That's very unfair to her."
"God has never treated her fairly." Susan echoed.
The two hung up the phone and she looked at the screen until it blacked out on its own, printing her face, before she came to her senses.
Alice's discharge from the hospital was completed and Susan had arranged her guest room out, taking time off work to come and pick her up personally after her discharge day.
Richard lived next door to them, and on the day she was discharged, she made a point of going over and the two of them picked her up.
When Susan went out to work, it was Richard who took care of her instead. Alice looked at them, her heart filled with a thousand words, but she didn't know which one to say.
The two men could see what she was thinking and couldn't help but comfort her, "Don't worry about some things, we'll sort it out, just be well on your own."
"Yeah." Edward came over and smiled slightly, "Just leave some things to us."
She inexplicably felt her heart warm, at the end of her life, it was her good fortune to know such a group of people.
Even if she went to meet the King of Hell later, she would probably be able to rest in peace.
She wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes and inhaled hard before smiling. Since she had decided to leave the Smith family, she naturally had to be prepared.
It would be that from today onwards, she would be Alice, not that obscure second young miss of the Smith family.
As she watched their backs, she couldn't help but cook a table of delicious food to treat them in the evening.
They were so happy and happy that they looked like a family. After more than twenty years, Alice finally knew what happiness looked like, it was about being thought of and remembered.
She couldn't help the tears in the corners of her eyes as she looked at the group of people in front of her, her heart full of gratitude.
Susan gave her a dish and then picked up the glass of wine next to her and said with a smile, "Cheers to the days to come!"
"Cheers!" They raised the cups in their hands one after another and clinked them together.
