Chapter 22 - Can you let me go?

Looking at Tony's smug smile, Alice closed her eyes, trying to suppress that anger.
Only, once she thought of that book. Her first gift from someone else, Alice felt a little uncontrollable.
Her anger washed over her head and she suddenly felt a little dizzy, reaching out to hold on to the bed, her figure unsteady as if she might faint at any moment.
Tony's heart tightened and he didn't think that the book would be so important to her, and his heart followed suit.
"Tony." She opened her eyes and looked at him unusually calmly. The coldness in those eyes was alarming, and she opened her mouth and asked lightly, "Are you relying on the fact that I am particularly fond of you, so you have always felt that I am quite good at bullying you."
He moved his mouth, not knowing what to say.
……
"That was my first gift in twenty-two years." She spoke calmly, so calmly that there was no way to notice her body that was shaking, "I don't know why everything I hold dear you all want to destroy, I don't understand. If it's all just because I like you, that's why. Then now ......"
Alice lifted her head and looked at him seriously, "I don't like you, and I don't hate you. No more thoughts or fantasies about you, so can you, please, let me go."
Tony looked at her, what she had just said was like being drenched with cold water from head to toe, a feeling he did not like.
"Now, please get out. I don't want to see you again, not for the rest of my life."
She smiled as her throat began to react. But she didn't want to be seen in pain, and even more so, she didn't want to see the man in front of her again.
The caretaker came in with hot water, saw that Alice's face was not quite right and immediately went over to support her.
Her head was bowed and the unfastened wig slipped off her head. The bare head was exposed to their eyes.
In order to cure her illness, Alice had shaved off all her hair. Her hairless appearance was unbearable to look at, so Susan had specially bought her a wig to wear on her head without the need to use her own nutrition to maintain its original cleanliness.
Tony could no longer speak, he stopped in place, his legs felt like they were filled with lead. The caretaker said softly, "Miss Smith, it's time for the puncture. Let's go."
"Mm." She was calmly assisted out of the place.
The wig on her head had also been re-secured, so as long as she didn't move too much, no one would notice.
Getting a piercing was a painful thing to do. When she returned to her room in a cold sweat of pain, she looked as if she had just been fished out of the water.
The care worker looked on and couldn't help but feel sorry for her.
Alice was lying on her bed, unmoving. It was only when Susan came over in the afternoon and saw that her condition was not quite right that she secretly asked the caretaker to understand.
As soon as she heard that Tony had come, her face immediately fell.
When she returned to the ward, she did not mention his name again.
Alice apologized to Edward for the destruction of the book, not saying that Tony had done it, and she took all the fault on herself.
"I'm so sorry." She apologized again.
Edward froze, looking at her serious look, he couldn't help but say, "It's okay, it's just a book."
Alice's heart was a bit complicated, and she didn't know what else she could say now except that she was sorry. Edward was not angry and did not pursue the matter, he sent her back to the ward and went back to his busy schedule.
The results of Leonard's match were coming out soon, and the success of the match would depend on these few days.
After a few more days of peace, Alice sat on a bench by the roadside to soak up the sun. The warm, soft sunlight made her limbs feel alive and her hands walked with some strength.
She was over here, quietly closing her eyes to recuperate, and Edward came over from a distance, and when he looked at her, his heart felt a little uncomfortable again.
Sitting down next to her, he hesitated for a long time not knowing whether he should tell her the answer or not.
Alice was still unaware that she had an extra person beside her, the warm sunlight made her whole body couldn't help but relax, she enjoyed the warmth it gave her, and then opened her eyes to see the person beside her.
"You're here?" She asked him with a smile, "When did you come over."
Edward laughed dryly and chatted in a non-committal way, "How do you feel?"
"Not too bad." She didn't know how else to describe her body.
……
"Well ......" he hesitated, seeing that she was in a good mood, so he didn't want to intrude, but he was afraid that if he stayed like this any longer, he wouldn't be able to resist saying come again, and hesitantly found an excuse to leave from her side.
When Susan came over in the afternoon, he said to her solemnly, "The results of Leonard's match have come out, and the two are father and daughter. It's just that the bone marrow match is not compatible."
Susan wrinkled her brows, "It's father and daughter, but not the illegitimate daughter. That's strange, Leonard doesn't have any other women apart from Janet, ah."
"Then it's even more proof that Alice is actually the Smith family's true princess."
Such a result then made people sigh, having lived for so many years without a loving father and mother. After being abandoned by her own family for so many years, she wondered what the Smith family would think if this matter were to be revealed again.
What would Alice think? What would Janet think when she found out that the person she had hated for more than 20 years was her own daughter, who she had raised for someone else for more than 20 years?
