Chapter 34 - Kathy's Car Accident
The day also seemed to be starting to get on track, and Susan's film had been promoted. He gave them each a ticket and invited them to see the premiere.
On the day of the premiere, Susan came straight to the door and dragged people. Alice, who had been dormant at home for a few days, couldn't help but bow her head when she suddenly saw the sun.
On the way, he always felt that the eyes of those people were looking at him intentionally or unintentionally.
Alice was a bit uncomfortable.
When she arrived at the cinema, she was pushed aside to sit. She went for a stroll while Alice waited for someone over here.
She was a bit different from her usual intellectual appearance, with a change of style and a big sunglasses.
Richard also came over and immediately walked over when she saw Alice. Seeing her sitting alone, he stood next to her, not knowing how to greet her.
……
Only after a long time did he cautiously ask, "How are you ...... feel lately?"
Alice turned her head, her cheeks had not improved because of her health, but had remained in that period of time. The whiteness was frightening and her cheeks were so thin and sunken in that they squeezed her chin out to a point where she could poke people.
"After a few retests, the doctor said there was a chance of it coming back, so I was told to pay some attention to it." Alice finished and began to fall silent again. The two men were so embarrassed that they didn't know how to take the words that followed.
Alice didn't know that he would meet Tony here by chance.
Kathy was standing next to him, holding his arm tightly. When she saw that Alice was also here, her face changed, but she had to maintain her poise. She still smiled and went forward, greeting them.
"Alice, how is your health?" Kathy asked cordially, making it seem to outsiders that they were still on good terms.
Alice smiled back and said, "The doctor says that she can still live for a few more years."
Tony's gaze lit up, but then he suppressed it without moving. Kathy at the side stiffened for a moment, seemingly not expecting her to suddenly get better either, but in the end, he could only say something sarcastic: "That's good then."
They didn't stay long, and the film was about to start before Kathy took the excuse to leave.
Susan, who had temporarily left, also came over, holding two baby toys in her hands and dangling them in front of her. She seemed a bit torn and handed them to Alice and asked bitterly, "Which one do you think looks good?"
"The pink one, I guess." Alice looked at it and wasn't really sure. Both dolls were handed to her, and Susan sat down next to her and said happily, "I recently took on a baby commercial, and that boss was so happy that he gave me two cases of baby milk powder. When the little baby comes out, the baby can drink it."
Alice laughed and didn't say anything more.
The three of them were eerily silent until it was time for the movie to start and they walked in together.
Alice didn't even watch it very carefully. She was just thinking about this child, what would happen to it after it was born.
She no longer wanted to bother with what was right and wrong, so she planned to open a small shop of her own and then live in that place where she didn't know anyone well until she was old.
Alice listened to the person chanting, "Betty is so poor, she doesn't deserve this."
Betty is the heroine of this film, who blindly falls in love with someone she shouldn't, causing her life to collapse. Her life experience is somewhat similar to Alice's.
Knowing this moment, she then reacted, and she couldn't help but look at Susan on the side, who also just hooked a smile in satisfaction.
The ending of the film was very powerless. Alice was also very powerless.
Susan sent them back home and went back to the party herself. Alice stayed her house and couldn't help but touch her belly with her hands.
She still had something to fall back on, and only when she thought about it did her heart feel more comfortable.
Kathy suddenly sent a text message, interrupting her fantasy of the future. She was probably still upset about what had happened during the day and wanted to talk to her about it.
Alice didn't think twice about it and agreed to meet her. He was dressed in an unfashionable overcoat, a far cry from the well-groomed Kathy.
The two of them stood on the side of the street, discussing where to go. Alice was indifferent and followed her across the street.
Kathy walked proudly and confidently in front of her, while behind her Alice was like a little maid. Kathy looked at her with contempt and then pretended to break her foot, only not realizing that a car would leap out next to her.
Alice had never seen such a bloody scene in her life, and she still hadn't slowed down until she was in the hospital.
